I have a basic question here for those who understand more about criminal charges. She was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and of course there were just the two babies.

Where did the third charge come from? Was there evidence that one of the babies had been attacked more than once?
That’s a good question.
Pittsburgh police charged Virzi on Sunday with criminal homicide, three counts of aggravated assault, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
1. We know what the criminal homicide is about.
2. We know what the 2 counts of endangering a child is about.
3. The 3 counts of assault must include 1. Injury to the live infant 2. Skull injury to the deceased infant. So the third maybe additional skull trauma (the brain bleeds and blunt force trauma?)

Hypothetically

Misses chatting with her online friend.
Jealous of the babies
Wants the babies and husband out of the way.
Genital injury is to frame the husband.
Maybe hurting the second child was more impulsive when her friend didn't immediately blame the father???

All my lame opinion.
It’s plausible.
But why would the genital injury point to the father? You think NV pointed it out to the woman first, to cast suspicion on him?

Thanks for this! Very informative.

How long had NV been in town visiting at the time this occured? What was the nature of the visit? Was she invited specifically to help with the twins? Offered? Just a social visit to catch up with her friends? Staying at seperate accommodations/the airB&B-was that a preference of the hosts, or the guest?

What were the circumstances of her abuse to the first baby with the genital injuries? Had she babysat while parents were away or just alone with him while parents were in another room? What was the intention in doing that, getting away with it at that time so to speak but then pointing it out later? An attempt to not look guilty? An attempt to make one or both parents appear inept or less observant by noticing something with the baby that they had missed?

I wonder if its possible this was a matter of built-up anger/resentment/stress/frustration due to what was thought to be just a social visit turning out to be more of a childcare/help with the babies visit?
