Missing 13-year-old girl whose body was found near a Pennsylvania river may have been abducted as father says he saw her 'talking to*an older man in a Buick'

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-father-says-saw-talking-older-man-Buick.html

'Shevy had walked a few minutes from her home to the Comet Food Warehouse on South Fifth Avenue near a Dollar General to buy a coloring book.

It was around 7pm and it was raining as well as getting dark. Police said the investigation is ongoing'

Who let's their 13-year-old out at night alone when it's raining??

Dad says he saw her talking to an older man in a Buick.. so did dad follow her to the store to know this? Did he notice her talking to this 'older man' yet still leave her or did this older man drive off?

If I saw my 13-year-old daughter talking to an older man in a dark car on a rainy night I wouldn't be letting her out of my reach! Something just doesn't feel right to me here. We've seen it before where perps create these imaginary villains to try and deflect attention elsewhere...

The cashier told dad she bought the coloring book and then left but is there any proof of this or just dad's word? CCTV?

Am I the only one who would never let my 13-year-old walk alone to the store at night (while raining) just for a coloring book? I'd either go with her, or at least say wait until the morning.

I could be wrong but my first instinct was that something is wrong with this story. But I suppose some parents wouldn't think twice about letting their 13-year-old walk alone at night, and if it was raining I could see Shevy accepting a ride home from a stranger.

While I agree with you that this story stinks, I don't think letting a 13 year old walk such a short distance to the store during daylight hours is a big deal at all. I'd let my 13 year old do it, even in the rain if they wanted to. Not lightning, but rain :).

However, I'm doubting the validity of this story.

Her dad has a video of her under his videos of her graduating what I assume is grade 6. So many cheers for her. Made me super sad. This shouldn't happen. But it does daily. I just can't wrap my head around murdering children. Anyone really let alone our future. Sometimes I want to step back from WS but then remember our victims and how they couldn't step back. Heavy heart today. Hugs to all.

I sure can, no problem at all.

Thanks skibaboo! You're the best!
There may not be much to add to a map in this case but when I looked up how far she was walking I understood why her parents would let her walk to the store. It was super close by.

I don't want to feel hinky, I don't want to feel hinky, I don't want to feel hinky, I don't want to.....

If I saw my daughter talking to a man or woman in a car, I think I would go immediately to that spot and ask if I could help the person rather than taking note and letting it go. I am certainly having some uncomfortable feelings about this scenario.

I can not find the original video (before she was found) but they said a worker at Comet saw her through a window, as she left after buying the coloring book, talking to the Buick man.
It was NOT her Dad who saw her speaking to him, it was a Comet employee. It's in one of the earlier reports, and they haven't bothered to fix the story.
.
Seriously will find them, hunt them down, and make them correct their story.

They have added 3000% more pain to this mans grief.

Consider it rumor since it's not a MSM comment, but this relative says parents are separated and dad was at work. Mom was home.

Oh, I hope that is correct. I couldn't find any place where the mom said the father saw the girl. All the quotes just say "he" and somehow the reports jumped to that "he" being the dad. After seeing his tears and how distraught the father was I don't want to believe he could be the one who saw her and didn't say anything. The father has spoken to media--if he saw her he would be the one saying he saw her, IMO. I think you are right and it was the employee who saw her. Oh, I hope there is video from that parking lot. :please:

No idea what to make of all this! Whatever happened, I hope they catch the perp soon.

Hello all!!! Don't really post much on here but have been a longtime member & occasionally check in on here for various cases. Since this sad case happened in the county directly above mine, in a town maybe a half hour from mine & having a child myself, this one really hits home. I checked real quick through most of the posts on this thread & didn't see this mentioned but last night after hearing they found this little girl dead & discovering where exactly they found her, I decided to jump on Pa's Megan's List & do a quick run down of all the offenders for Clarion County. I was sickened by what I saw. Living not far from Shevy was at least a couple of convicted kidnappers, multiple rapists, & the most promising of all (if it turns out that the man in the Buick is legit info) there is a 45-50 year old convicted pedophile who lives within 10 minutes of Shevy/Dollar General/Comet and get this-- HE DRIVES A BROWN BUICK!!!! Brand new 2016 Envoy. He was convicted of an aggravated indecent assault without consent incident that occurred in either '05 or '07. I've searched the distance from his address to the Plaza Shevy was last seen at & it's literally a hop, skip, & jump away. Also a hop, skip, & jump away from that same plaza is Shevy's residence. It is LITERALLY NEXT DOOR to the Comet & Dollar General. All she would have to do is cross tiny Trout run (ironically the same creek she was found dead in, but way farther down & on the opposite side of the highway) or walk a minute along the two lane highway & she's in the parking lot of Comet. Where she was found is fishy because if you follow Trout run on Google maps, it snakes through a heavily wooded & unpopulated area before it meets with the Clarion river. They are saying she was found IN Trout run, CLOSE to the Clarion river. For her to be found there & that far away from where she was walking to, someone had to put her there. That creek is way too shallow & rocky for her body to have floated down that far so where she was found was exactly where she was placed by someone else. This rules out the possibility of an accident & her falling into the creek herself & drowning/dying. Also ruling the accident theory out is the fact that Clarion county seen wicked storms with torrential downpours, tons of lightning, & tons of reported downed trees in Clarion county on the night & TIME that she disappeared... No way, in that weather, did she walk the woods herself (& on her own volition) to get to the spot she was found. Especially after one of her great aunts stated she was afraid of the dark.....
I have a feeling that those storms are going to play into her disappearance. I believe that when she walked to the stores, it was still pretty light out & not raining. Coming out of the store to head home was a different story though... It got dark quick that night & the rain was coming down like waterfalls. Maybe a predator, such as the Buick man, spots this young girl alone in the store looking at coloring books & knows how bad it is outside & uses her vulnerability & the inclement weather to his advantage. He sees an opportunity to get her easily into his car (& voluntarily) by offering her a ride home. Worst she can say is no & then he would go on his way until the next opportunity arises down the road that is to his advantage. Shevy, being afraid of the dark, exits the store & walks into a much darker sky with blinding rain. A nice man in the Buick offers her shelter from the darkness/rain/lightning & her fear of having to walk home, by herself, in that situation blinds her to having any fear of accepting a ride from this man. She could've assumed what's the worst thing that could happen to her since she lives immediately next door to where they are at but once she voluntarily got into that vehicle, the man didn't take her home. We all know sexual perps and abductors often commit crimes of opportunity. Seeing Shevy young, alone, & caught in a hellish storm was a perfect opportunity. This is just my theory.... I could very well be completely wrong but I don't know any other plausible scenario where she would end up where she is considering all of the circumstances & factors that evening. The plaza she disappeared from is a fairly populated area so I don't believe this was a forced abduction. Although it probably was not quite as populated during that particular time that evening as the weather was really bad. There were a lot of downed trees across road ways & the like. The only other scenario I could see happening is if -God forbid- someone in her family had something to do with her death & faked the abduction & plugged the "man in a Brown Buick" scenario into the equation as a red herring. The Clarion PD surely would have already checked the sex offender registry in the area & seen there is an older local sex offender who drives the exact color/make of vehicle; I hope that they have questioned him already to rule him either in or out.
Sorry this is so long. I didn't know how else to state it in a lesser word count & didn't want to create multiple posts for it all. Just playing armchair detective here.

Here you go, I'll add more as we go and add a bit more detail later too - Case Map

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Jb3BuEd84XFzt6T6zRCwja4pDBI&usp=sharing

Thanks for the map. I can't scale the distance from the Dollar General to where she was found, but I'm guessing it is about 3-4 miles ?

Far too great of a distance for her to have walked..........For now I'm buying the story about the guy in the Buick. We all know how slick and manipulative those child predators can be. This smells a lot like one of those , "Can you help me find my little dog ?" type stories.

I have a feeling this is going to end up being someone she may be familiar with, and wasn't alarmed when she was approached. It's a small town, the suspect pool can't be all that extensive.

This one caught my eye because we have close to the same last name (I'm Giffin) and all its spellings tend to be distantly related. Poor girl. Sadly it seems this is an Occam's razor scenario if there is a predator that close by driving a Buick...
