Her attorney asked the Judge for a private in chambers meeting when they were in court today so they could discuss her "medical issues" without it being heard in open court and he denied the request.

The judge did say he would "evaluate" her medical information next week. I do agree she needs to pay her "debt" but what they did to her was cruel. In-Out-In and she has no control over any of it. I don't get the "hate" over this - Paris was not in control of ANY of decisions that were made AFTER she surrendered herself to jail.

My Opinion
But she was in charge of decisions before jail. Not to mention driving drunk, she should have reported any illness or medical needs when she checked herself in. There is protocol to be followed during intake. It's just common sense to tell people you need meds when you are going to be locked. There is protocol to be followed when an inmate needs special attention. none of it was followed and she is paying the price.
The judge only wants he to follow the same procedure that anyone else would. If someone else had this issue they would submit for a hearing, get it on court calendar and plead their case. She didn't do that, but will next week.

My thoughts on this are she went to jail and at some point became hysterical. Daddy and Mommy probably got involved and somehow the thought of a lawsuit popped into the sheriff's mind. He said give me a reason.
Calls to medical doctors and shrinks followed, looking for a reason.

If there were a prior reason, it would be like JBean said. They would have made sure to bring it up as a means to try to keep her out of jail. Same with meds, if she was on some type of meds they would have made sure that she had access to them while in jail (including Valtrex.) And if she had had a flare up of some existing illness, she would have been transferred to a med. facility for treatment. To the other jail possibly or to a hospital if it was something they couldn't handle. Federal gov. requires that all jails have plans in place to treat medical, dental and psychiatric emergencies.

This is the part that just doesn't add up to me.
If this illness was so severe or had the potential of becoming severe, who in the world would not make sure they had access?
The sheriff said she was medicated when she came in and they were not notified that she needed ongoing meds.
Now why would anyone not make sure that was covered?
I cannot reconcile that in my mind in any way.

I can't either JBean. If you go to the hospital or any other facility where someone else is going to control your medications and treatment, you tell them what other problems and meds you are on. (and that isn't open court, so you don't have to worry as much about the media.)

Especially if it is as severe as they are saying. I believe them that it is bad, I guess. But can you imagine not asking the attorney how it is handled to get her meds? he would have told her what to do, notified the court privately and would have sent her to TT straight away.
OH! Maybe that is it. Twin Towers is not a good place. It has high level offenders and I sure wouldn't want to be there in particular. I haveheard it is just awful! Maybe they were hoping she could get by, because they knew the minute they notified the court that she had a medical issue, she would be sentenced there.
Also, the news reported that if health issues are discussed in court, public access is not allowed due to privacy issues.

Maybe the drugs she was taking were illegal. Maybe she didn't want anyone to know just how many party chemicals she has been ingesting. Maybe this explains the withdrawal type symptoms. Could also be alcohol withdrawal.

It didn't really sound like that from the sheriff's press conference. But ya never know I suppose.

Phew, finally got caught with this thread - what a day!! I can't believe all the drama surrounding Paris.

Does anyone know if the Hiltons have made any official statements since Paris was put back in the slammer?

Off to bed, can't keep my eyes open any longer to read about Paris!! Will check back tomorrow for updates.

G'night all.

One other thing- didn't Paris say something before she went into jail about how she 'could' have gone into one of those "pay jails"? Looks like if she was really ill or concerned about her meds she would have taken that arrangement.

I wonder if Dog and Beth would be so sympathetic if one of their kids was killed by a drunk driver.

I went to jail recently, (I'm innocent of my charges, I swear) and almost went "hysterical" when I found out I wasn't getting out for three days...
I don't feel sympathy for Paris but they DO treat you like an animal in there. On my 1st night there in my sleep I started my period...sorry to be so gross, but when I woke up I was covered in blood from the waist down...I asked for a shower (I was kept in the holding cell) and clean pants and was given neither for almost 7 hours...thankfully I DON'T have any kind of disease, but it kinda makes you wonder who has been laying there before you and what they might have had...

He was saying that he had it in his hand, but was not going to distribute it.
He also said, it was not like a broken arm or something physical that they could see and fix. The report was from a private psychiatrist and backed up by a county shrink that had seen her as late as 2 today. IIRC.

I thought he meant he wasn't going to distribute it to the press. Nevermind - I just learned Baca wasn't even in the courtroom today!!! This is a mess.

OK, I have another question:D (I think I'll change my nic to ?).

So they figure the appeal will be heard on Monday and Paris will be released on bail.

About the appeal. Do you think the Judge's sentence can be overturned on the basis that other people get lesser sentences?

I'm sorry for your trouble. But did you try to get out on a medical or psychiatric discharge? Or did you suck it up, serve your time and then get discharged?
Most likely PH would have had at least some of the guards who would have given some concessions to her, simply to cover their own butts. Because they would know that if word got back to Daddy and Mommy that someone would call the top people and they would be in trouble.

I didn't try to get out on ANY discharge...it wouldn't have done any good, and even if it would for a normal person you don't go in there showing weakness... You have to act like you are THE baddest person in the world. I know the guards where I was didn't give a hoot about anyone...not to say they wouldn't have if a celeb was there...but I have NEVER seen a more unprofessional group of people in my life...I kid you not, they acted WORSE than the inmates, it didn't matter what time of day/night it was they would walk by singing (badly!) at the top of their lungs and frequently cussed at one another using language I don't even use, and I'm a cusser! They talked loudly about how they were going clubbing and getting laid (not in those terms!), ok, whatever, I was obviously in no position to judge, but how unprofessional!
Paris needs to SUCK it up and quit acting like mommy/daddy/money can save the world. They/it can't...get over it b*tch and do your time!

Paris pleaded guilty to RECKLESS DRIVING..not DUI.

She was caught driving in a suspended license.....very few people are sent to jail for this. It's a simple traffic infraction and her sentence is harsh.

Also....just because the law states inmates are supposed to get their meds, doesn't mean it happens. Jail is a very cruel place.

I'm not really into Paris and could care less...but I hate to see injustice, and what is happening to her is so unfair....

I believe in punishment for crimes, but this just isn't right.....

LOL, all good points White Rain.

I was thinking.....(a dangerous occupation for me)....if she gets out on Monday, we ought to try to find an email address for her and start filling her addy with DUI/accident related deaths from the news. Or personal stories.

I doubt she would read any of it...probably just change her email addy IF we were able to find hers at all, but anything is worth a try. I have never had a personal experience, but went to school with one guy whose mom was killed in a DUI accident, and also went to school with two kids who died during a DUI accident, and two more in the car...the driver went to jail, can't remember how long he went down for though. The two that died burned to death in the backseat...horrible!

Maybe someone else knows, but Dog's daughter was killed in an accident last year. I don't know if a drunk driver was involved though. I'm interested to know why they are defending Paris. Maybe it has something to do with his own legal troubles and all the scum they have had to deal with over the years.

Just thought I'd add: Paris is going to jail for driving with a suspended license, recklessly and Mary Winkler is going to a mental health facility (not jail) for not too many more days.
