Joran arrived in Peru from Colombia on May 14th for a poker tournament.

This is a poker tournament I knew about and gave a half-hearted bid to get in. I believe one can work/or not and still go to poker tournaments. 'Course I'm not sure JVS had a job, in the way we think of jobs, but I don't know. Playing poker is not anathema to working.

I dont know Suzi...I know this is Peru we are talking about but just about ALL hotels these days have the card system, so guests cards can be deactivated after a certain date. They walk away with a certain 'key' they can always come back days later and gain access to a room now occupied by others - in a gambling city I would just think they would have all converted by now, even the seedier places.

All the lower price hotels here have them, RRI, Super 8, Comfort Inn. I would think only the old 'motor inns' on Rte 66 may still use traditional keys - LOL.

I'm trying to find that out too! Saying they went into the room together at 5am and they seem sure that she died at 8am. Not sure when HE left. The suicide story is spreading like mad on the net, but can't tell if that's just people reporting on the rumour, or not. Too good to be true perhaps?

Two months ago I tried to leave Costa Rica early because of the death of a dear friend. Just four hours early. My Mom had called the airlines and gotten my ticket switched.

My aunts, who were on my original flight, tried to get on the earlier flight with me. They couldn't do it, not because of space, but because it wasn't planned ahead of time.

I'm sure if you had enough money, you could leave somewhere early. Also, Costa Rica is fairly with-it in laws.

It isn't as easy as hopping on a flight to leave.

Though living openly as a lesbian, Flores struggled to balance her sexuality with her parents' intense disapproval, her ex-girlfriend Stephanie Jimenez told "Good Morning America" today.

Jimenez said that Flores had recently been hitting the casinos especially hard, spending thousands of dollars at a time.

Jimenez, now living in Miami, said that Flores would often flirt with men while gambling at the casino with her father, Peruvian businessman and racecar driver Ricardo Flores, even though she was out to the gay community.

Jimenez said it wasn't unusual for either Flores or her father to disappear for a few days at a time

It sounds like Fox News is saying that Stephany's body was discovered because her father became concerned about her missing. He found out that she was with Joran that night and went to the hotel. OMG! I had thought one of the maids discovered her. The father is politically connected and is able to give out info that LE is not disclosing to reporters. The description of blood in the room reminds me of the rocks Aruba painted over.

You're right! But in this case, Joran is not known as a professional poker player, and he doesn't seem like he just flew in for this 1 tournament and went back to the Netherlands for his 9-5 er.
Trust me, we go to Atlantic City a few times a year so I am not judging his gambling- hobby or not.

OK he left the room 'about 4 hours later' so that's 9am.
