I'm not sure about the police chief, but I would hope that if someone knows anything about what happened to Natalee and has been afraid to talk up to now, may feel a little easier about it now.

I wondered that also Panthera.

As for the Holloway case, there is no evidence to connect him to the death of Natalee. That's because there is no evidence that a crime was even committed. She disappeared without a trace, and nothing has been found of her since then. Of course, logic compels the supposition that something happened to her, but without a body, or any forensic evidence at all, Aruba could not convict Joran or anyone else of a crime it can't prove happened. Now, perhaps Peru could manage to do that.

My speculation is just the same as most of yours, just not as popular.

I don't agree with the no body no crime theory you seem to embrace. You have to look at all the circumstances and in some cases concluding foul play is warranted. In Natalees case there was lots of circumstantial evidence and even witnesses that were ignored. They could have build a case but they did not even try. It must be tough to write an online book and then find out you missed the obvious.

I wonder if, now that Joran's father is dead and Joran is in jail in Peru, someone on Aruba might come forward with new info on Natalee's case. Maybe the fear of retailation may be gone. Does the same police chief (as when Natalee died) still hold office in Aruba?

I don't know about the police chief, either. But the Aruban gov't is as corrupt as ever, IMO, and they have a LOT of skeletons in their own closet relating to the Holloway case they'd like to keep buried. They don't want any more digging.

Jan Van Der Straaten JVDS godfather was the Chief of Police when NH went missing. The current Chief of Police is Peter De Witte.

I'm not talking conspiracy theory now. My analysis of this case is just as valid as yours, or anyone else's.

Facts- we have been told, so far, that: there was no murder weapon found (direct quote from the head of the police investigation); a baseball bat was found; a tennis racket was found; there were multiple stab wounds; there was a bloody mess everywhere, and the body was horribly mutilated, with Stephany's brother graphically describing her missing an eye; the body was found fully clothed, face down, wrapped in a bloody sheet; the body was found face up, clad only in a tee shirt and red panties; the neck was broken, but there was no blood other than a trickle from her nose and/or ear; she was actually strangled with Joran's own shirt.

No theory, no conspiracy in this post at all. But plenty of room for skepticism and doubt.

What you should be investigating is the sad state of our reporting media. What they don't know they make up for the headlines.

You are correct. I heard that on Greta's show. And I believe he left office about two months after Joran's first arrest.

Again thanks for posting this link

thank you for this -- I find the following statement very moving -- it's honesty and his use of the word honor is fair warning for JVDS et al - he's got a very small window in which to 'come clean' or the window may shut like a guillotine

bold emphasis is mine

"The Dutchman will be held in a solitary cell for at least four or five months," a prison official told The Daily Beast. "For his own safety we cannot mix him with the other prisoners. This murder case is so infamous that he could easily be killed. There are a lot of murderers in this prison, especially hit men who can easily be contracted from outside … To the criminal mind, it's an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. They feel affronted that he's murdered a Peruvian girl and they would kill him for the honor of their country."

~Respectfully snipped~

3. It makes more sense that the coffee would seem most essential before a long, arduous early morning emergency trek away from the scene of a crime. Why would the pair want to stay up any later than they already had?

I totally agree that the coffee was essential for the getaway after a long night.

The problem is, this murder happened on the weekend. We have no idea when either one of these young 20 somethings woke up to begin their day. I'm sure the hotel has footage of when Joran entered his room to sleep and when he left for an evening of gambling prior to arriving at ACC. Maybe he and even Stephany slept the day away and arose to party and gamble in the evening hours making a full nighter not all that difficult.

Regardless, the camera outside Joran's room 309 is PRICELESS! Days before and up until he fled.

ETA: I'm not implying that they slept together. Just seperately and all day long in order to play poker at the Casino in the wee hours of the morning. Being sleepy while playing A.M. poker isn't condusive to winning, IMHO.

This video of the 'wine tossing incident' is pretty telling. Joran apparently admits that his anger was building up and he "couldn't control" himself. Note his expression as the interview ends, you can see it on his face!

I think that's his mother seated next to the interviewer when this occurs.

MOO

bumping...so everyone has a chance to see how in normal day-to-day public life how insensitive, off-the-cuff hostile and easily angered he can be...during a taped interview! Thanks for posting FLNY!

Most Dutch newspapers are now reporting that Joran has offered to disclose Natalee's remains location providing that he can sit out his jail time in Aruba LOL. Somebody has to tell this no good poker player that he has no trump card left. He must be getting desperate.

Beth should send him a personal note letting him know his offer has been officially declined and he can stay right where he is.

Now is the time for her to offer up the reward money for the location of the remains. One of his slimy little friends knows where they are, and Joran is now where he can't harm anyone.

Does he really think Peru would let him go into a nice jail in Aruba?
By the way, if her body was dumped in the ocean (which I suppose is the most likely outcome) then I doubt there is anything left of the body.

When the story first came out about poor Stephany being beaten to death with a tennis racket I started thinking..Hmmm?? Paulus died playing tennis..How ironic that the downfall of these two low-lifes would be something so simple as a tennis racket. When in all actuality it was their lies, cover-ups and deception. Thank you, God that my son is just lazy!

I wonder how night two is going for the new prisoner? If he has figured out yet that his temper did him in. Is his new home the nightmare he imagined it would be. Nah he is still protected. He better enjoy these next few months of being treated like a baby. He will play with the big boys soon and from the sound of it he will not be playing long. Sounds like they want his head on a platter. Thank you newone for your post!

  for the part of your post I bolded. I really hope Beth does exactly that.

Hi Mel. I was looking for thread number 5 and since I'm on my son's netbook with an itty bitty screen and even smaller keyboard to type on I can't seem to find it today.

We had poster that posted that she/he had remembered that rumor (JVDS having an incident that required him to have some sort of psych care) originated from JDVS' parents during an interview (I don't know if it was written or video interview) during the Holloway case.

I can't go back and find that but there's a clue right there if anyone wants to go back and comb through the past five years of interviews with his parents.

I would try to search but I can't until a few more weeks. If no one finds it I'll be happy to try to find it also once I get my new home set up. :)

Thanks! After reading "most" of the posts, I wonder if came from JVS's book. I wish the book was in English, but perhaps someone on this MB read it. In any case, I've yet to find a reliable link about the dog on Google :(

here's an online source (that quotes four local peru newspaper sources) that indicate his ''fear'' :)croc:

I don't want to be in prison in Peru. I am afraid I might be killed,” said van der Sloot to police authorities, according to reports published in El Comercio, La Republica, Peru21 and RPP.

According to Ruben Rodriguez, Chief of the Inpe (Peru's Prison System), van der Sloot feels he is hated and has asked for guarantees for his life, and he has been jailed at an individual cell, a privilege that very few inmates can have in Peru.
