I take offense to that, myself being Dutch. We do not think we are superior to anyone. Actually, if you go back to Calvin and the way the Dutch personality and social demeanor was formed you would find that the Dutch are a very sober folk that feel required by society to be modest and never to toot their own horn so to speak. Generally speaking, of course, and all exceptions aside.

I would be careful about lumping the Dutch and Aruba (Antillians) into one common denominator. Aruba, while one of the colonized Antillan islands, has its own government locally and also has its own judicial system. Their manner of dealing with Joran is different than the Netherlands proper would deal with him.

He is an embarassment to the Dutch people and we do not want to be associated with him at all. Most of us think along the same lines as Peter R. De Vries. We also call it Karma and she is kicking his *advertiser censored* in a big way. I hope he rots in Peru as long as he can stay alive in that prison.

If I may ask, how do you explain Joran's pscyhology? The way he
came to the present course? How did his path take him off the main
stream, from a Dutch perspective?

Why does he have so many supporters among some loud young people
in Amsterdam? I assume you would say these young supporters are a minority?

I think that was a much earlier video from when Trujillo got taken to Castro Castro.
IIRC, they were showing photos and video of Trujillo O. to give a background on him after the video where he was at Joran's cell. MOO

I am rolling over here! I'm trying to catch up ...and read he was whining about a headache and not eating for two days? ROFLMAO! Like who cares? There are MILLIONS of GOOD people in the world that are REALLY starving...I can't squeeze out a single drop of compassion for him.

Oftentimes.... HERE in the USA inmates go without eating for days...it happens.

Do I care he has an 8x3 foot cell with no toilet ? Heck no....people all over the world, good people, working people, squat over a hole in the ground. There are TONS of countries where even toilet paper is considered a luxury and only the wealthy can afford it!

Am I seriously supposed to feel sorry for a double murderer that preys on defenseless women? It ain't ever gonna happen..................and I will never apologize for feeling the way I do.

It appears that JVS got many of his morals from PVS. He seemed to let the young prince do anything he wanted just as he seems to have done. I wonder why he did not become a Judge before he died? Maybe his morals?

I would venture to guess he learned his objectifying/hating and using women from his father...I think he was spoiled beyond belief and probably dropped on his head one too many times....;) Seriously...I don't really care how he got to be the way he is...he arrived at murdering psychopath...

As far as his supporters....Even Charles Manson has fans. There is no shortage of STUPID. That's how I would explain it.

I can only proffer guesses but it could have to do with privilege that he felt and experienced within his own family situation on Aruba. In addition, his mother was in denial and may have been very submissive to his father. He's basically a spoiled brat.

Take that and an inherent sociopathic or worse, psychopathic personality and the narcissism that he has exhibited (reminds me so much of Scott Peterson) and this entitlement will get him into huge trouble. I think it's a lot like throwing a temper tantrum for not getting his way, but he kills people (and animals) when he has these tantrums.

The "supporters" you speak of in Amsterdam are generally young students who are quite socialistic and believe that you have to prove someone's guilt before you brand them a murderer. They also believe in many cases that there are political motivations for making an example out of alleged criminals (not talking about Joran here but in general) and that this right should be reserved for judges who decide their fate. Being tried in the media upsets a lot of Dutch people because they don't think it's fair or social. There have been mistakes made in the recent past and some people have been unjustly imprisoned. Things like that.

How would you describe Joran's pscyhology? You met him.

Is he a deep person, intellectually?

What is his major asset as a human being? His physical size? His
atheletic ability? His mental superiority?

Studies show it only takes about 30 seconds to size people up ..
I should have said when I saw him on tv after he was being accused of Natalie Holloway's disappearance. I didn't see him personally if that's what you meant.

WOW good picture! I wonder if his hand is so swollen because he hit her so hard. It looks like it's really swollen and that there is some dried blood on his arm.

either that or the Peruvian LE was a little bit rough on him.

Hmmmm...

That picture was taken before he was turned over to the Peruvians. IIRC, it was just as the long journey to Peru was beginning

Dutchie Treat, If you don't mind what picture? I would like to see it. What did I miss. Thank you.

I think he's a tad dehydrated ...contracting the skin a bit, so you're just seeing more of the shaft down by the root. It was shaved rather short and after about a week...I expect to see some dark patches where regrowth is fastest.

I would have a lot more sympathy for Joran's downward spiral, if he had not killed two beautiful young women on the way down. MOO!

We literally do not know that he killed more than Stephany.
We only assume he killed Natalie. She was very drunk on her own
by everyone's admission even before Joran got involved with her -
his story about her convulsing and him panicking could be the literal
truth of this.

I really am sure Joran is no mental or criminal genius - just one
monumental schmuck and halfwit running from trouble to trouble.
This guy cant even ride a bicycle or a motorcycle correctly! This
guy should have been a male model for Vogue .... not on the NBA lineup!

This guy could very easily be playing a shell game, with nothing under
the shells. And the whole world twisted up by the world's own grid lock
in beaurocracy and media hype. The only place on Earth Joran has succeeded at all is in Aruba, as distinct from everywhere else. Without
Aruba there would be no Joran van der Sloot as we know him today!

Either that, or he has really been sweatin' it!
Now if that happened there would be hair dye running down his face and onto his clothes. Maybe the Peruvian LE were nice and let him take a bath before going to his new "home". MOO

OT but interesting just the same, A wrongly convicted nurse, Lucia de Berk, spent 7 years in prison prior to being released in april of this year after she won her appeal to the Supreme Court. The media and everyone in the Netherlands was basically sure that she had done it. They called her the angel of death. They thought she was actively euthanizing these patients. It wasn't true. It has since been proven by forensics. Good read.

Speaking for myself, I have ZERO doubt he murdered Natalee.

With his temper I am sure there are many door and walls with holes left in his path. Maybe he slammed his fist into one. I think it was probably poor SF though. Takes a big, big man to hit a woman. Furhman was right he was a wife abuser in the making.

The only thing that the Dutch media and government had a problem with, was the perp walk.

Parading Joran around like that for the media and for maddened throngs is like a flash back to the second world war for the Netherlands when that type of behavior was exhibited in concentration camps before some groups were brought to firing squads or worse.

The rest of everything that is Joran van der Sloot sickens us collectively as a people. Truly. We are afraid of him when we see his eyes in pictures or on TV.

Spoiled, frighted children with a learning disability grow up.
They become brain damaged people in big bodies with bigger problems.
Society (all societies) are supposed to manage that somehow for the
protection of society itself. That is a cultural mandate. Obviously the
system failed in Joran's case ... and the media is making a lot of money
off of it as we all sit and wonder why.

Im not judging you or anyone, just trying to be objective. God knows we
are full of similar problems here in the USA and everywhere and no
family is immune to trouble. We are all in this together ...
