Thanks again. And to everyone else who has posted links!
I was wondering if there is a discrepancy?
From here:

"Flores was arrested in Curacaví by the PDI (Policía de Investigaciones de Chile It is believed that he was making his way to Viña del Mar as he was traveling on Route 68."
From here:
http://abcnews.go.com/International...oran-van-der-sloot-arrested/story?id=10817535
"Chilean media reports that van der Sloot was captured by police while travelling in a taxi on the highway between Santiago and Valparaiso "
So one piece involves Vina del Mar, and the other Valparaiso. But those seem to be in the same area according to Wiki. But then the one piece cites Curacavi where he was allegedly nabbed, and this may be a discrepancy (or not) and that is said to be in the Santiago district. But I guess they could have nabbed him just out of Santiago and not near the final destiantion--whatever that was.
But I sure wish they had more details like--"police in a car riding alongside his taxi recognized him and pulled it over" or such. It wasn;t a any kind of checkpoint. And look a thow far this region is from the Peruvian border! If he had no money left--how did he pay for such a long ride?
Of course, it got my curiosity because I recognized the deeper matters that Vina Del Mar is known for.
Maybe you saw the fine movie "Missing" with Jack Lemon and Sissy Spacek. That movie, based on a true story, showed a young American journalist who was bragged to by an ONI or CIA agent while in Vina Del Mar. The agent bragged about the impending overthrow on 9/11/73 that he was there working on. And allegedly because of what he had been told by the ONI/CIA agent, the young American was ordered killed. The father/Jack Lemmon sued all the way up from the American Ambassador to Henry Kissinger, and the intelligence agencies, in the murder of his son. I believe it was finally disallowed by the US Supreme Court or such.
Of course, Vina Del Mar has casinos itself.
Only problem again is that by then Joran supposdly had no money--and not even his watch to hock?
