Jean Casarez reporting now on HLN -

-- Chile wanted him out of their country ASAP

-- discovered that he allegedly stole $5,000

-- in re. extortion sting & mail fraud. Fed complaint = preliminary charges, must go before Grand Jury before indicted

-- get an extradition packet and upon release from Peru, U.S. would immediately file extradition proceedings

Serious? Why would the U.S. do that? Do we want to foot his bill and house him (in luxury) in this country? I vote 'no'.

Oh, do they mean after he serves his 35 years in Peru?

I sure hope that is after he has served his time on the murder charges.
(if he is still living)

I am sure it's only something they will pursue should he "get off" again. Their delayed timing may have cost a girl her life.

If that hotel has cameras all over the place, after two weeks he knew that. This whole crime does not make sense. No sense at all.

Even for really large wins?

I don't do casinos. They give me a headache, with all the noise.

IDK because I'm not a high roller, LOL. But I did win 175.00 in Vegas! Perhaps Carrington can elaborate a little more.

The noise bothers me too after about an hour or so.

I do the local ones here. I've won $1200. and $800. (my two largest jackpots). The $800. was just a ticket that spit out of the machine and I cashed it at the window. The $1200. one I had to sign "tax" papers and they asked me how I wanted it. I took the cash and asked for an escort to my car. But I think you can "split" it - part cash part check - if its big enough. I think for the really big ones $10K and up - they give you a check.

It's so good to see you Niner, Hopefully it will be Breaking News tomoz, at least on CNN or HLN. I was just going to look at the time difference between Oregon {PST} and Peru. I bet it will be first thing in the morning, as from the time her body was found I think the case has moved at a very rapid pace.

:blowkiss:

Hey Scandi - nice to see you here too!! :seeya:
I too was wondering about HOW they had Joran's DNA?? I guess we shall hopefully find out about this!
Okay on the "crossing the border" - I'll go to CNN!!

AFTER

The AL U.S. Atty. yesterday made it clear they did not want to interfere in anyway with the murder charges in Peru.

I am a little confused about winning large amounts of money at casino's. Is everyone who wins walking around with a pocket full of cash or do the casino's issue checks?

I'm guessing here - the casino may give you your winnings in cash so that you'll return it to the casino by gambling it away back to them. They say that the house always wins.

Most people (US) take cash to avoid the IRS tax on winning.
My daughter won 6K playing slots and I asked for a check.
The casino didn't like that, but did issue the check after about an hour wait.
Turning in your chips for cash leaves no paper trail for tax purposes.

IMO

I doubt any amount of "professional help" could have straightened out VDS's mind...short of a labotomy.

Being given everything you have ever wanted may turn you into a spoiled brat, who feels entitled to everything but I highly doubt it turns one into a serial killer and/or rapist. That's just a bunch of balogna, IMO.

If his mother has covered for him, I can blame her for that but not that her parenting completely turned him into what he is today. There is something wrong in the brains of people like this. This is something for Neurologists to figure out how to fix, IMO, not some counselor or shrink.

I agree! Dr. Robert Hare has been researching the psychopath for decades - his research is premiere, with excellent methodology. His book 'Without Conscience' is brilliant. He contends some babies are born lacking the ability to process emotions and that this occurs on a continuum explaining the 'office sociopath' right down to the murderous serial killer. Interesting reading - and he doesn't even find it necessary to blame mom. moo mho

Is Joran going to San Juan de Lurigancho or El Frontón?

I re-recorded only the part regarding the Peruvian Prison video so we have only that segment to reference and for any member unable to view the original video. :blowkiss:

I am shocked at the extent of Stephany's injuries also. Seems so unnecessary. Overkill.

BB, I totally agree with you! This is why I do not think he 'planned' to kill her in his hotel room. I think something went very wrong, thus leading to him feeling he had no alternative but to kill her there and then no choice except to make a quick escape out of the country. Stephany's reasons for leaving her jacket on in the hotel room could have been from an 'intuitive' feeling females get. I think his 'evil' was obvious to most. Stephany might have thought his were sexual in nature and decided to use her clothing as a defense mechanism, keeping on outer clothing as well during her time in his room as a means of distancing herself from him. Maybe he planned to bond with her and sexually woo her into allowing him to gamble with her by his side using her winnings. Apparently he seriously misjudged Stephany, and instead found her to be admittedly gay, highly athletic and not a pushover for the VDS BS 'charm'. Her screaming in a crowded, tourist type hotel room might be more easily detected and frowned upon than the struggles of a young girl on a lonely dark beach with the waves crashing ashore...

May 10th? I wonder if they had acted sooner if this young lady might still be alive?

As posted by another poster a couple of pages back the indictment they were working on out of Alabama is not a crime that is extraditable. I think they were either luring in him to a higher dollar amount that would have increased the charge, or lured him to a US property where he could be arrested.

He has been out an about for five years, they had no way to know he would murder a girl while they were working on this case. Perhaps them keeping tabs on him is part of the reason his escape didn't work.

And the smoke.
There is no smoking in our casinos - except for the Seminoles (American Indians) since the casino is on tribal land - its their rules. But the ones at the race tracks - nope - no smoking.

They had no way of knowing what the perp was going to do next. No one can be blamed but the perp himself imo.

Anyway, Aruba dropped the ball on this one.

Whoever the lady is on HLN, she is saying that in Peru the judge does the investigation...and no jury trials.
