Poker player tipped off police

The body of Stephany Flores was found after a 'mysterious' foreign poker player asked to send someone to Jorans room, police interrogation reports show.

The 35 year old male has been interrogated a couple of times last days. He stayed at the same hotel as Joran did. He met him earlier and had Jorans Peruvian phonenumber saved in his cellphone.

According to his papers he is Albanian and naturalized Uruguayan. Two weeks before Joran entered Peru they had contact on multiple occassions.

The man, 'Elton Garcia' can temporary not leave Peru. He said to police that he is a professional poker player who played with Joran and Stephany at a 'free table'.

The evening before Stephany was found he would have had dinner with Joran but Joran didn't show up. On Tuesday night, 2 days after the murder, they had an appointment at 9.00 pm. "He didn't show up and I started to worry. I thought they where kidnapped together."

The 'mysterious' poker player tells investigators that he heard that Stephany was missing on Tuesday. He says he feared that Joran and Stephany where kidnapped together.

In the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, this man asked the head of the Atlantic City casino to call to the hotel room of Joran. After this phonecall the body of Stephany Flores was found.

In the interrogations, the police didn't ask throughly why Garcia led people to the crime scene. Garcia says he barely knew Joran and has never been to his hotelroom. "I'm absolutely not a friend of him. We just played poker together in the Atlantic City casino."

Hmmm, I find this article, if accurate, very very interesting, and it also makes me a little bit nervous.

He says he was absolutely not a friend of Joran, just someone he met there. Then he goes on to say he was worried that they were both kidnapped and asks the Casino owner to call Joran's room? WTH. Who does that for someone you just met, and what on earth made him assume they were both kidnapped. I didn't want to have any doubts about JVDS and this situation but there's something about this story that just doesn't make sense.

Oh and another thing that just came to me as I was waking up.

I really want to see the video of JVDS leaving and returning with the 2 coffees and bread. Were the 2 coffees in one of those cup holders or did he have one in each hand? If he had one in each hand, and some bread, if she were alive at that time (which I still highly highly doubt), one would assume that she would open the door for him when he came back with 2 coffees and bread.

If he comes back and doesn't even hesitate and places the items on the floor to open the door, we can probably assume he wasn't expecting anyone to answer the door.

Otherwise, I want to see how he managed to open a hotel room door, with a regular key, with 2 cups of hot coffee in his hands, and a loaf of bread. :waitasec:

I think that Stefany was still alive when Joran went out for coffee. I can't see him leisurely strolling to a market, purchasing coffee and bread, after committing murder. What might have happened was she was ready to go home, checked her wallet and found the money missing. He might have tried to convince her that she lost it or it was stolen at the casino and when she demanded the money back and started to get loud he flew into a rage and killed her. I am still troubled by the videos of them entering the hostel, without communicating or even acknowledging the others presence. Stefany with head bowed walking passively behind Joran looked like a lamb going to the slaughter. I think she might have gone to his room because she was in no condition to drive and wanted to sober up. Does anyone know how far from the hostel/casino Stefany lived?

According to de Telegraaf:

Op een shirt van Joran van der Sloot zijn bloedsporen aangetroffen van de vermoorde 21-jarige Peruaanse Stephany Flores. Dat meldt de Peruaanse politie maandag tegenover de krant Ajá.

There are blood stains found on the shirt of Joran van der Sloot. According to the Peruvian police it is the blood of Stephany Flores.

Source.

It is the only thing the article says and I don't know if it's true but it says that the Peruvian police told this to the newspaper Ajá.

This is a good video because it shows Stephany parking her car at the casino and a clear shot of her walking in pants, shows them both walking out of the casino, and also Joran with his shirt off during his physical.

In the quick clip they showed of the 2 of them walking to the hotel, from the casino, she looked much more alert, walking side by side with him. Perhaps her demeanor in the hotel lobby video with head bowed and following him was simply because she was going to a hotel room at 5 a.m. with a man she just recently met, not wanting to call attention to herself from the hotel lobby workers.

It could also mean she didn't want to be recognized because of her father being well known. For some reason, that is the first thing that popped in my head when I saw her. In the states we call that "doing the walk of shame" which is when you are going home with a guy that you just met.

I also feel the reason Stephany was walking with her head down is because she was embarrassed walking into a hotel room at 5:00 AM with Joran especially since she might get recognized because of her father's status.

This is the video I so want to see and wonder why this part was not released with the other videos. It made no sense to cut that portion out when they released showing Stephany going into the room.

This story doesn't seem strange to me, it actually makes me think that Joran will eventually be convicted.

Prosecutor: Why didn't you meet your friend for dinner?
WAS IT BECAUSE YOU KILLED STEPHANY?

Prosecutor: Why didn't you show up for the 9:00 pm meeting with your friend?
WAS IT BECAUSE YOU HAD TO GET OUT OF THE COUNTRY FAST?

I can only assume since both of them were foreigners, then they talked about kidnappings in Peru. When Joran pulled a couple of no shows then he thought Joran might be kidnapped.

I doubt this friend would go to the cops if he took part in or had knowledge of any type of set-up/murder

Nope this solidifys the fact that Joran acted alone.

Why was Garcia worried that Joran and Stephany had both been kidnapped? Because by then it was news that Stephany's family had reported her missing and possibly kidnapped. Garcia knew that Stephany & Joran were together that night and that Joran was now MIA, too.

This is the video I so want to see and wonder why this part was not released with the other videos. It made no sense to cut that portion out when they released showing Stephany going into the room.

Me too, I especially want to see his demeanor when he left to get the coffee. If he seemed as calm and relaxed as when he left the final time with his bags, like everything had been taken care of.

Also, in the video that was released when he left for the final time, was that the time he told the hotel workers not to disturb "his girl"? It didn't look like he talked to anyone on that final exit, like he just rounded the bend and headed out the lobby door. I'd like to see that exchange also. (Disregard. I just watched the video again and realized there was a woman in white standing there when he first was rounding the bend. I suppose that's when the exchange was made)

I also feel the reason Stephany was walking with her head down is because she was embarrassed walking into a hotel room at 5:00 AM with Joran especially since she might get recognized because of her father's status.

That could explain her demeaner in the lobby but I would think it would be different in the hall outside his room since it appears there is no one else around. I would think he would as hold the door open for her.

It is just so different from what the clip showed of them leaving casino, walking closely side by side and then at the 2:38 mark you see him bend down close to her face to talk or something. They look so much like a couple there.

Here is some information and pics of the Hotel Tac in Lima. It looks like the most expensive room is $40 a day and includes a bathroom, king size bed and a 29" television. The next room (pricewise) down is $35 and doesn't have a bathroom per se, but does include a jacuzzi tub in the room. The hostel is 7 stories high and has 80 rooms.

Yes, I think we all want to see that video.

In fact I am to the point that I want to see ALL the video from time they stepped into his room until her body was found....yes, all 3 days of it.

There is one thing that bugs me about this situation. If the murder weapon was a baseball bat then where did it come from. Who packs and brings a bat with them on vacation. Did Joran go and buy a bat and if so then he planned the murder.

I am having a heard time seeing the coffee cup in his hand when he exists the room. Although I see what appears to be a coffee cup in his hand as he is leaving the hotel lobby. Could he have left one of the cups of coffee in another area and then picked it up as he left the room and out of sight of the camera?

Snipped from CNN article "Van der Sloot remains jailed as murder investigation continues"

The Embassy has told Peruvian authorities that it is not comfortable with the way van der Sloot has been presented to the media, Neyra said. The Peruvian interior minister is asking authorities not to talk about the case without his authorization.

So the Netherlands is uncomfortable huh? How about the way Joran has presented HIMSELF to the media and the world in general over these years that NH has been missing? When is the Netherlands and Aruba going to hold this guy accountable for his own actions?? Big deal, they paraded him in from of the camera's at least they gave him a bullet proof vest.

i think it has been determined that the "bat" is actually a tennis racquet (sp?)
