In the beginning of this video you can see the guy at the left (you can only see his hand) holding Jorans passport. I don't know if he had it with him when he was arrested. I think he did because this is filmed in the same room where they look at all his belongings.

Joran

First of all, congrats and thank you to all for all you do. Amazing work!
I am a long time lurker, however just recently registered. While I was waiting for my registration to go through, there were a couple of issues I wanted to add.

In the earlier vid, sorry I don't know which post it is now, of Joran sitting while the officials are going through the plastic bag, when they are counting the money and pictures, you can see a black what looks like to be a passport still in the plastic bag. Thank you md for this vid, I was busting at the seems wanting to post that. :) I know in Cuba, they will take your passport, however a photocopy is fine to leave at the front desk. I think this is what's happened in this case, he might have left a photocopy because we can clearly see he doesn't get it on the way out. Or, do we know when he paid for the 14 days? Could it have been when he left for coffee, paid for 14 days retrieved his passport at that time?

Also, with regards to the panties, and SF being found fully cloathed, is it possible that she was undressed, and Joran dressed her not pulling up her pants all the way exposing the panties? In his sick twisted mind, making it look like a robbery?

I have been reading all the posts, however it is not clear to me where her vehicle was found? Was it at the casino, or was it at the hotel, or did he drive it somewhere?

I don't see her carrying a clutch, purse or anything. Is it possible she was following him, head down because she is well known, and was just going to his room to get paid back money she lent him?

When he leaves the hotel room, very casual, the first thing I thought of, the look on his face looks like, he trying to act normal, however clearly there is something wrong.

And finally, I'm sorry Flores family, :( do we know for certain that SF's sexual preference was women? If Joran didn't know that, I can see that being the motive, considering his charachter and history.

I can't imagine one would surrender their actual Passport to a hotel. They probably make a copy of it and keep it to identify who's staying in the hotel and then hand the original back to the guest. I would never give my Passport to anybody to keep - I'd always keep it with me while in a foreign country.

I agree. That's the only thing that makes sense to me, that the hotel had a copy of his passport, not the original.

Good question! In the video surveillance you can see Joran locking the door with his key so I guess it's not one of those doors that locks automatically when you shut it. If he left the key in the room the door would have been open (I mean not locked). I don't know if that was the case? I think I read somewhere that the door was eventually opened using a spare key. My guess is that he took the key with him.

If that's the case, then the keys on the nighttable that were visable in one of the vids, could have been her car keys? She could have held them while walking into the hotel, however its difficult to tell if she was holding anything. Maybe she had her car keys, left her purse clutch or whatever in her car, and was just going to his hotel to get repaid money he owed?

IMO if you are following someone into a hotel room, with the anticipation of spending the night, you would have a purse or something. To me, it appears or maybe just a gut feeling, she had no intention of staying long.

Joran

Around 5:00, you see the female in the white coat pick up his passport and then the male in the white coat looks at his passport.

I think it is safe to say now, Joran has his original passport with him when he left the hotel. It is very possible that the hotel took a copy of his passport.

Welcome aboard, G_Angel! The only reports I have read say that Joran left the hotel Tac in Stephany's SUV and left it 50 blocks away.

http://wdef.com/news/peru_murder_update/06/2010

THIS IS THE CAR THAT BELONGED TO STEPHANY FLORES. PERUVIAN POLICE SAY VAN DER SLOOT DROVE AWAY IN THIS CAR AND LEFT IT ABOUT 50 BLOCKS AWAY FROM THE HOTEL. THAT'S WHY THE FAMILY SAYS THEY ORIGINALLY THOUGHT THEY WERE DEALING WITH A KIDNAPPING.

TV saying needs more investigation. Joran spending week in holding cell, Will be transferred to down, held 24 hours, up to judge where he is transfer too. Go to low security might go to a jail, didn't catch name, but one for violent offenders.
Wait for translator. He can refus to give a depostiion, just on the record, but cannot held against him if he doesn't.

Saying tapes edited. Saying Stephany goes willingly. Saying edited tape, saying she could have been alive when he left, so depending on tape to tell the story.
Computer being checked could be looking at that so extended investigation.

Very excellent spotting, and if you look at the link below it matches the picture of the Dutch Passport Picture I found on Google.

My US Passport is Navy Blue.

In the surveillance video of VDS wearing a striped shirt when he leaves his hotel room, he does not use a room key to lock the door. Upon exiting his room, in the videotape, you can see him twisting the doorknob as he checks to see that the door is locked.

Didn't Joran drive her car away and abandon the vehicle?

I have looked at the upclose video many, many times now on CNN News of his departure from the room. Really don't see a key being used in the door. However, there are keys in his right hand that look like car keys. JMO

I'm sorry. I didn't know that there were keys visable on the nightstand. Hmm then maybe he did leave them in the room. Like you said it could also have been her car keys. But then again I read in one of the articles that he supposedley moved her car. I wish we had all the correct information available!

In the video where he is picking up his room key you can see he has something in his right hand and takes the room key with his left. I thought all along that he had her car keys in his right hand but now am not sure. What do you think? The footage I'm talking about can be viewed in post #2 of this thread.

Nope, no key and no coffee in his hand.

The book, "People of the Lie", discusses the difference between regular people and people that commit horrendous crimes. Basically it talks about regular people want to understand how something could have happened, they want to package it for their perspective. In other words, what would make THEM do something this awful, be it child abuse, bad upbringing, bad circumstances, mental illness etc.. but the point is these people don't think, act, or respond like normal people - they are people of the lie.

This is a very useful concept. Certainly, it has to apply to psychopath (in my opinion, Joran.)

It might not apply to someone who is essentially an acquaintance. I think we will need to see how this Garcia's relationship with Joran is characterized by investigators, both LE and reporters (I mean, here, not news reporters but investigative ones).

Thanks for clearing that up! I'm sorry if I confused anyone by saying that he did use a key. I really thought he did but I just looked again and you can see clearly that he didn't. Sorry
