where I live and it's not anywhere near Oregon, we cannot bring household trash to the landfill.

I wish we could get an answer on this, but I really feel Portland is the same way.

There are disposal sites where you can go. My local trash company doesn't have one, but there is one in Eugene that you can take your trash. They weight you on the way in and weigh you on the way out and you pay based on the weight.

In the U.S., the states of Arizona, California, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Nevada, and Oregon have grand juries at the county level.<snipped>

Most courts have rules that prohibit disclosure of grand jury proceedings. The rules typically apply to the government attorneys, the grand jury members, and the court personnel. Violators of the rules can be held in contempt of court if a case against them is proven. However, proving that the leaked information came out of the grand jury proceeding and identifying exactly who made the prohibited disclosure is difficult in most cases.<snipped>

Thanks for responding. I understand that people who are subpoenaed and the grand jury cannot discuss the testimonies, but I have heard that in some cases (maybe specific states or federal cases?) that people who are subpoenaed cannot even tell others that they were called to testify??? If subpoenaed people can't tell others that they were called to testify, how will we find out that a grand jury has been seated for this case???

We're probably going to need a local whose been on the grand jury or knows someone who has. Each county has their own so the answer will be county specific.

Just wanted to say Hi to all of the locals that have taken the time to answer our questions. It is greatly appreciated ... and yes, I have more questions for you!

1.) I am wondering if the locals still feel that Terri is involved somehow; and, that their kids are safe?

2.) Several people have voiced concerns about school starting back. What about the locals & parents w/ kids that go to Skyline? How do you feel?

3.) What is the general consensus as to weather Kyron may still be alive?

4.) If the locals still feel that Terri is involved, has there been any kind of wave of relief or other feelings since Terri has moved? TIA!

1. It is a frequent topic of conversation with people I interact with. Everyone strongly believes that Terri is involved. For that reason, there seems to be no heightened concern about kids. Kids are out playing at all the city parks as they normally are this time of year.

2. We don't attend Skyline but do attend PPS. No one seems to think PPS is at fault since the assumption is that he left with stepmom.

3. I see that little guy's face all over town...but I think most people fear the worst.

4. Personally...I am angry she has moved away. They need to bring her back and hold her accountable for whatever it is she is not talking about.

Thanks CASH for saying how you see it. Let's just hope the 'War Room' is not empty tonight at 11:30pm. That they are still working to put one fact with another to bring Kyron on home. xox

I was subpeaned {sp} before a Washington County Grand Jury. The person was a man who was living with me when he was arrested.

It was very formal. I was quite tense sitting out in the waiting room to get called in. Then when I went in I was the only one they had called. :waitasec: I told them what had happened, took about 10 min, and that was that. There were probably 8 people sitting around a large wooden table in an enclosed room. They were very concentrated and then did come down with an order to indite him for what he had supposedly done. xox

Hi Pensfan, I think it is so secretive that unless one is involved in the case they wouldn't even know thay are meeting.

I read the Daily Journal of Commerce in Portland and don't remember seeing cases like this published before they are heard. I'll look into it tomoz. ;}

OMG, Three posts in a row and I'm out a here. LOLOLOL Eufta meta, as my grandma always said, and that was never good.

Are there wells or mine shafts in Portland?

None of either in urban Portland, but in the area around Skyline, there are probably wells and cisterns, but there wouldn't be any mine shafts in that area.

ETA: I think with wells, it depends on how early the area was settled. Today's wells aren't the "fall in and get trapped" kind. However, there are cisterns in urban Portland. See this tragic story about a man falling into a 100-year-old cistern on his property in a densely populated part of Portland:

There is a TUNNEL near the area that Kyron went missing! I don't know a lot about it. Those who are living/have lived near Beaverton might be able to help on that!

I'm not in Beaverton, but I believe it is Cornelius Pass Tunnel. Search on "Cornelius Pass" on these pages:

I know I saw some locals' pics and an excellent map on WS somewhere also.

Gotta run, or I'd find the links. :)

Is the Sheriff elected and is it an election year in Multnomah County?

Is the Sheriff elected and is it an election year in Multnomah County?

Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) serves the close to 700,000 residents[1][2] of Multomah County, [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon"]Oregon[/ame], [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States"]United States[/ame]. Multnomah County Sheriff's Office is a County Law Enforcement agency that handles 9-1-1 calls and assists other city agencies such as [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portland_Police_Bureau"]Portland Police Bureau[/ame]. The current Sheriff is Dan Staton. The cities of Maywood Park and Wood Village contract out the law enforcement services of Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.[3]

The sheriff is elected by popular vote, and oversees a budget of $118 million.

I am running for both the Interim Sheriff’s position, which runs until January 2011, and for the full position of Sheriff, which runs from 2011 to 2015.

Are you talking about the tunnel on Hwy 26? I'm trying to think of what other tunnels there could be .... Train tunnels?

It's the one mentioned a couple of posts above, the Cornelius Pass tunnel.

This is an active railway also...

To touch on the landfill subject ~ when my husband and I lived in Forest Grove (20 miles from Skyline), we took our trash to Waste Management (for a fee, of course). We didn't have regular garbage service where we lived, so we had to make trips to WM.

Skyline Blvd goes through the edge of Forest Park. There are several bicycle trails into Forest Park off of Skyline.

I seem to recall someone on a local online news site who repeatedly posted that LE should be searching Forest Park. Wish I could recall the name. I'll check oregonlive.

I assumed LE checked it out.
