I always thought it was weird Thomas thought the "incest" photo was significant since his whole theory was that JB wasn't a victim of incest and the injuries came from "corporal cleansing" instead. He released a lot of info about her possible molestation, it made me wonder if he just went with the PDI/not molested scenario because he thought it would be the easiest to prove with the evidence provided.

Or maybe his PDI theory was nothing but bait.

Often times, people will confess to certain aspects of a crime while leaving out what they think their target audience will find to be the most disturbing. So for instance, yes it's super creepy that Criminal kidnapped and murdered a child but not as creepy as if they'd also told you they raped and then dismembered the body.

So perhaps LE intended to add in the molestation bit as a way to get PR to admit to the parts of the crime she *was* involved in because it would be easier for her to admit to "accidentally" causing an incident to occur that led to JBR's death. I study police interrogation tactics and this is a technique that is used quite often.

Anyone know why the "Forensic Handwriting" thread got locked before anyone posted? Or did I miss some posts, maybe they were removed.

It's this brown door with multi panes of glass I believe

colorado-jonbenet-ramsey-house-in-boulder-picture-id51060407

What's the point of him mentioning to go and check that door actually? He knew that there was no intruder. He apparently went out that night for another reason . My guess is he went out with the flashlight to break the basement window from outside . He was clever enought to know that Le would determine from where the window was broken. And hence the flashlight was wiped clean as well as the glass pieces.

Problem is no broken glass was found other than a tiny shard. The flashlight was wiped clean because it was very likely the murder weapon. The window was broken in advance Im pretty sure.

Over the past little while, having seen the new video of the house and having read the filing against CBS, there are some things that I have seen that lead me to believe that things may not have happened how we think they happened.

First of all, from the video, a couple of things stand out to me. In the downstairs Laundry room there appears to be a half wrapped present on the washer. Almost certainly someone (an adult) stopped wrapping that present for some reason. Why? And who was the present for? We know the Rs were going to Michigan the next morning, then off too Miami immediately upon their return. It does not seem sensible that any Christmas wrapping would be continued well in to the new year.

Next, at the end of the video we see a dark shot of the Christmas tree. What appears to be wrapping paper is strewn all over the floor. Why was this not picked up as most families do, right after presents are opened.

From the CBS Filing we learn (or are reminded of) fibre evidence from the brown rope bag in JARs room. Similar fibres are found on both the garrotte chord and on JBs bed.

I am getting a picture of a family in turmoil here. I believe this began before Christmas, the Dec 23 911 call being part of it. I see the parents going through the motions on Christmas morning, not even bothering to take more than a couple of token photos. John immediately leaves for the better part of the day. Patsy doesn't even bother cleaning the wrapping paper or even making the kids lunch. The only thing she specifies doing is colouring her hair which may take an hour at best. So we have John abandoning his family, Patsy alone and unaccounted for, and JB not wanting to play with the other children. All on Christmas day!

I know that we have all focused on the basement as being the crime scene, but I am starting to believe that at some point after she was struck (who knows where?) she was carried up to her bed to be assessed. That would explain the bag fibres being transferred to the rope, then to her bed. Or maybe the ropes were applied in her bed?

Just some random thought, feel free to discuss.

I'm new here, but I've been lurking for a few weeks and catching up on some of the threads. I was referred here from another forum that I frequent because we often discuss true crime (but it is not a true crime forum).

I was 16 in 1996, and had some interest in the case but sort of lost interest when nothing new came about. I had not read all of the newer literature and thought it had been settled on that IDI, and the RDI theory had fallen out of favor. I was wrong.

I finished Kolar's book recently and I am in the BDI camp although I am about to start Steve Thomas's book for a different perspective and additional information.

Anyway, my question is something that I have not seen mentioned/ discussed before. I always thought it was odd that they named her JonBenet Patricia, essentially three names all from her parents. Typically, aren't first born children named after their parents? Why wasn't Burke given any of his parents names? Has this ever been asked/ mentioned/ discussed before?

Other than that I just want to say that I'm glad I have found this forum, I have learned a great deal so far.

:wagon:Hi hh! Welcome to the fray! As part of your initiation, please be prepared to add your signature to a forum-wide thank you note to the Ramseys. After all, these are the people who make us look good!!
:scared: :skip: :gaah: :happydance:

(ahem)

As to Burke's name -- You're right, being named for the parents often falls to the first born. In this case, for the first boy, it's John Andrew Ramsey, John's son from his first marriage. They also had two daughters -- Beth, who died in a highway accident, and Melinda. The way JR tells it, he and PR couldn't settle on a boy's name for their first son together and eventually chose Burke because they saw it on a sign somewhere around the (IIRC) Atlanta Metro Area. However, his middle name, Hamilton, is a family name.

It's understandable about JAR getting the name first, but I always thought the story about BR's name was better left untold. No one feels better knowing their parents essentially picked their name out of a phone book -- especially when, as you've said, your little sister gets the all inclusive name.

Welcome - Glad to have you here!

The issue about JB's name has been discussed some before. Even with some speculation that BR might have had some jealousy about it. But BR wasn't actually JR's eldest son, John Andrew was by his first wife, Lucinda. So JR did already have a son named John.

Sorry, Meara.. didn't mean to double up on you. I was slow in my response.

Oh not at all, kanzz. I'm usually the slow one! Besides, welcoming newcomers is always so fun.

I saw an interview with John recently wherein he said JonBenet was very proud to have been named after him. As this is John, it may well be a lie, but I can see this troubling Billboard Burke a bit, especially if little sister liked to bring it up. Just another little thing...

Are you able to post a screenshot of the spiral staircase for me? I have trouble viewing the video on radaronline.com. Thanks.
Will this one work?

An IDI slapped this together and called it a full profile. It doesn't look like a full profile to me. What say ya?

DNA in doubt

Oh, I'm no DNA analyst at all. But - what? Is this what came back from BODE? Very strange that an IDI is using this to support their theory. It says, "contains mixture of at least two individuals", which supports all of the recent news about how wrong Mary Lacy was.
My verdict = Bogus.

Thank you so much. I had heard that the garland was taken off the spiral staircase banister before the 911 call. True? Radaronline.com video would show if it really was off.

Also since JonBenet had garland in her hair, it was mentioned, could they have been fighting on the staircase and she got hung on the garland somehow? The stairs are open in the back could she have fallen through and hung like halfway down. I don't like those stairs being open like that. Moo.
