We don't know the subject matter of JA's motion that was referred to another judge, do we? I seriously doubt it's about not receiving a speedy trial. That doesn't make sense. Wasn't that suggested only as a joke?
I think it's ridiculous. I guarantee she waived her right to a speedy trial long ago, and IIRC most of the delay requests have come from the defense. I also think Nurmi has done the best he can with the hand he was dealt, and JA has never come up with a decent reason why she wants so badly to get rid of him.
No, we don't know what the subject matter is from her motion. It's not a joke about her thinking she didn't get a speedy trial. She is going to throw anything and everything against the wall, hoping something sticks. The speedy trial will not stick. She waived her right to a speedy trial and most of the delays were at her defense's request. Hope that helps.
Thanks rose. I'm actually really fuzzy on what exactly happened here. I though the judge precluded them too but then I also remember reading that the DT pulled the letters themselves so I don't know exactly what happened. If that is what happened then I don't expect it to be any different now.
Dug up an old thread regarding the letters. it can be found here:
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?200050-The-TEN-letters-Discuss-them-here
(forgive me if this has been posted already)
JA attempted to represent herself and filed a motion to enter the letters as evidence. The state filed a motion to preclude them, JA objected.
More specifically... on August 15, 2011 JA filed a motion to have her council reinstated, and the motion was granted. The very next item in the minutes is to withdraw the objection to the state's motion to preclude the letters. So the State's motion to preclude was granted.
This can be found on page 2 of the minutes:

From what I remember, The State had an expert that could prove that the letters were fakes. Hopefully they will stay out as they are just another failed attempt by JA to appear innocent. I am just baffled at how JA seems to still think she needs to prove her innocence. This trial isn't to find her guilty, that already happened and she conveniently likes to forget that. Ugh..what a horrid place her mind must be. :notgood:
Hope everyone is well..
:lurk:
HMMMM, if they withdrew their objection then they withdrew the letters, no? That doesn't sound like the states's motion was granted, it sounds like it wasn't necessary anymore as the defense threw in the towel.

I'll be covering the Arias penalty phase retrial through a new website called Karas on Crime at https://karasoncrime.com/. When you go to the site, you'll see an introductory video where I describe my plan. I will give you a live report on the website every night along with updates, photos from the courtroom pool camera, analysis, and more. I've already posted some documents and analysis, a timeline from the first trial, etc. This is a members-only subscription site. If you want all the details from the retrial, please join!

I'm fine wth her charging if she provides good information. She can't run ads like tv shows and needs to make some decent money for all the (daily) work she'll have to put in.
her "PLAN"......What..... the plan to rip us off?
I think ill pass and stick with the lousy tweets. I really think she would have been better off just asking for donations. I bet she would have gotten more money that way if she needs money.
I really don't understand why a news network hasn't offered her the moon and stars to work for them. Or to go back to work for them. Nobody expects Beth Karas to work for free, I know that. But this is a bad idea.
http://trialtalklive.com I understand. But BK... she's got to be advertising gold at some TV network, right?
