Oral argument scheduled for February 6? Hopefully that is a typo and Jan 6 is what's meant? Or has JSS already conceded that the trial will still be in full swing through February? Whatever happened to her resolve to at least set a deadline, even if there is no hope she'll bother to enforce it?

Hi Hope. February 6th argument is about the motion to dismiss DP. It's a group action by several facing death right now. What disturbs me is that JSS is not even hearing an oral argument of the media to release transcript of JA's testimony until the 5th. This judge has consistently made bad rulings. She either is anti DP or anti Juan Martinez and it shows. She is very biased and there is no relief or recourse for the victim and his family. I am glad for the break for the next two weeks. This trial is more disturbing than the Anthony trial. And I didn't believe anything could be more bizarre than that. We could thank the jurors there but here we have a judge who is so pro defense or so inept it is insane. I guess there's no remedy in sight.

Good Morning. I am just hoping that Juan gets at least an afternoon chance at cross before the break to mellow some of the toxic poison that has been poured into the jurors minds.

With any luck the DT's poor victim CMJA story will fail because it's directed to the wrong audience. This is a very young jury- almost all are under age 40, and the majority are young women.

These women are being insulted with a sexist fairy tale--a mean bad Travis troll who preyed upon a delicate damsel who was too innocent and naive and powerless to even know she was being victimized.

And when she did begun to suspect he was a troll, her response was sadness unto death. Woe!!! Because she was powerless, and lo! had no control over her own decisions or even thoughts. She was just a little fragile damsel, wasting away in distress, a shadow of her former self. Travis could make her cower or deny reality; verily, his darkness could even dim that shining light she used to be. Woe!

Not sure the women on this jury believe in that kind of fairy tale anymore. In any case, no fairy tale I've ever read has the princess galloping 1,000 miles ---twice---chasing after a Prince Charming who told her the slipper didn't fit.

So Judge set a hearing to unseal the transcript (from reporters motion) for January (links in previous thread)? We won't be seeing that transcript anytime soon, will we?

That January 5 date made me angry. It is 2 1/2 weeks away. It looks like JSS is giving this enough time for Nurmi to file an appeal with the Supreme Court and for them to decide whether to hear the issue or not. If the Supreme Court declines to hear the motion, it would seem that there is no need for oral arguments, just follow the directive of the Court of Appeals., but hey, this trial does not follow any kind of predictable course.

Why is there a hearing for Oral Arguments regarding the COA's order to release the transcripts? What can the DT argue to change the COA's ruling--besides more of the same that we have already heard countless times before?

We already know exactly how the hearing will go: Nurmi will whine, threaten (again) to appeal to the ASC, tell the court CMJA will not testify until the ASC rules and then run to file another motion. Juan will simply say release it and let's get this show on the road.

Meanwhile, the Alexander family (God bless them) has yet another Christmas without justice for Travis. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

ARIAS: Yes. After that incident occurred with Bobby -- I had worked at Denny`s for about a year at that point. And if you`re a full-time employee at Denny`s, or I think a minimum of, like, 32 hours a week, you get vacation benefits. And so I decided to use that time to spend away from him, and I flew back to Costa Rica for a week-and-a-half.

NURMI: And am I correct in assuming that was to spend time with Victor?

Gayla Lynch is the co worker that worked with JA at Denny's. Are you kidding me??? When JA was 18! Yet she claims how sweet and passive Jodi "IS" ?? :gaah:

JA promised that she would sully Travis's reputation and torture his family.

What we didn't count on was an enabling judge as her accomplice.

I dont understand it about the judge not following the COA ruling to release the transcripts. When I read it there was no question about it being up for debate.

It said to release them. So release them. There is a COA ruling to abide by.

Instead of worrying about appeals of this case how about worrying about finishing the trial and abiding by the COA ruling.

:seeya: Good Morning, Y'all !

:cheer: It's a miracle: 4 days of trial in a row this week !

:) Now how about another miracle today:

Immediately unseal that Transcript of the Secret Witness Testiphony, JSS !

It would be a HUGE WASTE for Nurmi to even try to appeal the COA's ruling to the Az Supreme Court -- and Nurmi knows this as does JSS !

Oh, how I hope Juan gets to cross Geffner today ... but I guess that would another miracle !

I do not believe the jury is buying anyof this. But I do think one or more will hang the jury, not out of sympathy for JA but just because they won't vote for the DP. And they will see the judge as an enabler.

No miracle while JSS in charge. Not even having a hearing to release transcript until January 5. Yes or No posted minutes on sidebar.

Please tell me what there is to argue now. They said do it.

Dr. Geffner said he interviewed 10 people. Can we figure out who they are? He mentioned some, but not all, IIRC.

  1. Brother Carl
  2. Aunt Sue
  3. Former boyfriend Matt McCartney
  4. Former boyfriend Darryl Brewer
  5. Laura, sister of Darryl Brewer
  6. Friend from teenage years
  7. Former co-worker, male
  8. Friend of Travis (and we believe this how?)
  9. ?
  10. ?

It did not seem as if Geffner interviewed her parents, which is sketchy.

JSS is beyond ridiculous at this point. She acts as haggard as she looks.

We do have a waitress who said that JA was only nice to good-looking men. This was post-murder, I believe. There are quite a few such examples. Juan will easily prove that Arias is the mistress of manipulation. It would actually be difficult to find an example of her NOT being manipulative.

8. Starbuck's skater dude

9. Fictional boyfriend

10. Gus 'Lawyerless' Searcy

I thought I saw a tweet that said Geffner had interviewed one of Travis' friends.

I don't understand why there needs to be oral arguments on the request to release the transcript of testimony. The COA ordered it. What's there to argue?

I thought the reason for the secret testimony was because JA felt intimidated by the press. They would be releasing her transcript not a video of her testimony. It will be released when this retrial is over so what difference can it possibly make if it is released now. Her words are already out and documented. Plus JM has the right to cross. If she refuses to testify further can JM bring in evidence that would dispute her testimony so far?
