Retrial for Sentencing of Jodi Arias - Day 18

After reading the press' motion I think it is that Nurmi is wanting to hold off until he can appeal to the Supreme Court. They ask either the judge release the transcript immediately or advise Nurmi to file an expedited motion for the sc to review the COA's decision. And it sounds like media anticipated Nurmi would stall in this way.

IMHO, the SC will pass on this one, anyway.

She already issued an order "unsealing" the transcript IIRC (I'm on my phone so not easily able to look up minute entries). The official "transcript" at this point is the video recording taken by the crappy court cameras. The only thing she ordered to be held pending further order was the written transcript. I don't see why the media couldn't have obtained the video in the meantime. And once the media got the COA order, why file a motion to release the transcript at all? Why not just show up with a copy of the order and say, "I'm here for the transcript?"

I'm too annoyed with this court to type a sensible rebuttal to media motion/JSS' oral argument (?!?) on something that's been decided by a higher power - is everything in this court upside down and inside out??

Thank you, AZL--I am still a bit confused regarding the transcripts. Why is the video, versus written, the official transcript? Does one carry more weight than the other? Does this become an argument of semantics as JSS has ruled no video released until the trial is over? I thought the pending order JSS was waiting on to release the written transcripts was the COA order, which has now been issued.

I'm left to believe JSS strongly disagrees with the COA. That's the only conclusion I can come to based on her adding a hearing on 1/5, instead at lunch or before trail today. :gaah:

AZL.....think its possible for a group of WS's to file an amicus brief in this case, as representatives of the public, requesting that the transcripts be made available immediately?

That's kinda tongue and cheek, and kinda not. The COA has already reminded JSS that as the public we have inherent standing in this or any other case.
