I read the ruling. It is limited to the stay issue, so the immediate effect of it is that the trial cannot continue IN SECRET, although it certainly can continue. The confusion is no doubt caused by the appellate court adding that JSS may impose SOME restriction upon public access to the courtroom, as long as she follows the constitution and the rules of criminal procedure (strongly implying that the "clear the courtroom" ruling will be overturned on Nov. 25). The appellate court noted that JSS had considered lesser restrictions on Oct 30 (during the secret hearing), which IMO was a hint to her that something she had considered and rejected would be OK with them (perhaps the "kick the public out and send media to the overflow room" option).

For me it was when she tried to outsmart Juan on the stand. She would not back down.

Psychopaths don't 'break'. Ever. They always think they're smarter than everyone else. ALWAYS. Talk talk talk talk talk, manipulate, dodge, weave, adopt, talk talk talk. That's what they do.

I don't think any other trial judge is going to conduct his or her courtroom or a murder trial in this same way. I think the chance of that is almost zero %. This is a very bizarre situation with a bizarre set of behaviors by this judge. Her rulings will not become precedent and I don't think any future defendant in some other trial in some other judge's court will pull these kind of shenanigans.

I think that's very optimistic. Other attorneys in other cases have already taken to accusing Juan of grandstanding and playing to the media, no doubt inspired by the complaints made in this case. Willmott was even there one day when a defense attorney made this charge.

But perhaps lawyers in the future will probably not be so willing to ask for sealed cases now that an appeals court is this close to ruling that it's not constitutional.

Appellate court heard argument in public (imagine such a thing lol) at 11 am IIRC. Secret trial was suspended because Nurmi and JM needed to go to the Ct App for that argument. Secret trial may have resumed at 1:15 pm. Ruling from Ct App came down at 3 pm staying enforcement of the order closing the courtroom. The merits of the special action are scheduled for consideration Nov. 25.

JM, Nurmi and JSS couldn't immediately agree how to handle the 1st Amendment going forward, so trial is off until Wed. at 10 am for them to think. Hearing tomorrow at 1:30 re: same.

She just turned 3 months [emoji1] seems like time is flying and she's getting so big! Ironically her due date was Travis Alexanders birthday but she was born 4 days early. During the last trial I was struggling to get pregnant so for sure this trial has really dragged on ....

Not to derail but my grandson was born July 4th. Life does go on in spite of JA...except for Travis.

I am typically not pro-death penalty but I make exceptions such as the Manson Murderers and definitely the Arias case.

However, a part of me almost wishes they would have given her life without the possibility of parole and this would have been over with. I feel so sorry for Travis' family. They have been through pure hell. I hate Arias and she didn't personally do anything to me. I can't imagine what Travis' family feels. They have to keep seeing her ugly, murderous mug. This has to conclude!

Indeed, but she disagreed and stated as "not true" with what I actually posted: that Sharon Rocha no longer thinks of Laci's killer (which is exactly what Sharon said in interviews within a couple years of SP being sentenced) and she also disagreed that the Alexanders will not eventually be able to think of Travis first and foremost and the importance of his killer and worrying about the killer's feelings will fade to the background once she is sentenced and gone. That's what I posted.

This is may not be the place for this discussion (sidebar?) but your first post implied you believed most family members of a violent crime victim over time would no longer focus on the murderer. At least that is how I read it. Tulessa was just reacting with a heartfelt "Not true" in her circumstance. to which she did not add "JMO". I don't think she intended it to be the same for everyone, or any others. Neither she nor you nor any of us can be sure how the Rochas and Alexander's will think in the future. I personally don't feel thoughts of the "killers feelings" ever completely fade, just get pushed aside for as long as possible.

Isnt the constitutional amendments, pretty much taught in your first year in lawyer 101? "how to handle the first amendment" I almost fell on the floor in laughter.

She doesn't miss him. Not in the least. She doesn't even respect his memory. The lies she told during the trial about Travis sexually attracted to children is sickening and something she never could have even thought to do, let alone gone through with it, if she missed him or had any real feelings.

I keep watching the interrogation tapes and I find it so disgusting when she wants Flores to show her the pictures, she wanted to see her handy work, she wanted to get off on seeing his slaughtered body.

Most people I've know who speak in that manner have Cerebral Palsey. Could be other condition as well.

??? Not sure who you are referring to. Surely not Nurmi's slow speech? He shows no other signs of CP. I have a brother with CP, and had a cousin with a milder version. I have been around a lot of CP individuals and none talk like KN, if that is who you meant. Halting speech, guttural sounds, but not a similar slowness. If not, I am confused and must have overlooked a post. thanks

No, No... She wanted to see how to twist her story THEN to fit the evidence. She wanted to see their cards so to speak.
