I think the word "flight" here refers to her leaving rather than being on a plane. Similar to "she took flight".It is a New York MSM source that is saying "her flight".

It's strange word choice though. It's as if they've copied an article in another language and translated it?
Nothing to add really, a friend spoke who stated how kind Sam and her husband were/are, and that 'she just doesn't want anyone to forget about Sam.'Just watching the 7.30 report on the ABC, there is a story running right now!
"All I know is that she was due to come back for brunch, and [her husband] Mick has called Sam and her phone was off and her phone's never off. So after that, he put out the alert.""She was going for more and more runs and she went for the run and that's the last we've heard," Ms Murphy's friend and former neighbour Bianca Card said.

Former detective warns volunteer searchers may be hurting police investigation into Samantha Murphy
Volunteers have been desperately searching for missing mother Samantha Murphy but their efforts could unfortunately be hampering the police, a former detective tells 7.30.www.abc.net.au
Also if this is true and I've got the timeline slightly correct..the pinging must have happened 'early' as her phone was off when he called."All I know is that she was due to come back for brunch, and [her husband] Mick has called Sam and her phone was off and her phone's never off. So after that, he put out the alert."
Interesting...i don't think i've heard that before or i'm just not remembering
I do worry that the perps may be a flight risk. Her flight?! Gee my friend had a dream after Sam went missing (we both follow the case her having grown up in Mt Clear and me in another searched suburb) that I changed identity and flew overseas. It couldn't be a real possibility, or could it?! Strange wording ..
Surely the meant plight
I watched too. Are there any tech wizards out there who would know how to get the 7.30 report from tonight off ABCiview and load it in a way that our overseas members can watch? I have no idea how to do that ... being a luddite.Nothing to add really, a friend spoke who stated how kind Sam and her husband were/are, and that 'she just doesn't want anyone to forget about Sam.'
Can't help with the video, but this article has a few paragraphs on what Sam's friend said :I watched too. Sam's friend in the story said words to the effect "Sam would do anything for anyone. Please don't forget Sam".
Phone Twist In Search For Missing Mum Samantha Murphy: Police To Try A New Tactic In Search - Ny Breaking News
Investigators are set to look at mobile phone tower data to identify the movements of people in the area where Victorian woman Samantha Murphy disappeared.nybreaking.com
"Detectives are now ready to trace mobile data from the Ballarat area,
with particular interest in phones ‘pinging’ from towers covering the area they believe Ms Murphy was in hours after her flight".
Does that mean - they have data from her watch?? - suggesting movement hours after she left Mt Clear heading towards the Ballarat area? (is that more general Ballarat - away from bushland?) JMO

Its an idiom
to take flight by definition: to run away or leave a place
- The burglars took flight when the alarm sounded.
- Startled, the herd of deer took flight.
- In dangerous situations, many people freeze, fight, or take flight.
- The startled birds took flight.
None of the above actually mean to travel in a plane. Its an expression whose meaning is more in line with: to run away, flee, make a run for it, be gone, to leave a place as quick as one can. This idiom probably originating, possibly from watching birds take flight [literally, with wings]
