She was not killed at the location in her neighborhood. She was killed shortly after she went missing, according to coroner.

Faye grabbed their hearts, will not be forgotten. Condolences to family, friends, classmates, teachers, school district, neighbors.

UPDATE: Following autopsy of six year old #FayeSwetlik, authorities have announced the following:
- Death did not occur at location where body was found
- Death took place within a few hours of abduction
- Ruled as asphyxiation
- Coty Taylor's autopsy to come out today

The Lexington County Coroner says Faye Swetlik’s cause of death is asphyxiation. The coroner says Swetlik’s death took place within a few hours after her abduction.

Spoke to every car going in and out. Asked for consent to look in vehicles.
Used FBI questionnaire to glean info from people LE talked to.
Searched homes, goal to speak to every occupant of every home.
Asked for consent to enter.

Yeah, I thought that from very early on. Hearing the specific details here, shows that this was a masterclass in responding to a missing child.

Absolutely incredible effort.

K9 searched. New grid search. Brought in more resource - Sanitation Department.
Officers followed sanitation trucks and combed through garbage as it was dumped.
10am, found polka-dot boot and soup ladle with fresh dirt.
 
Approx 10 a.m. they found a child's polka dot boot and a soup ladle with freshly-dug dirt in it.
They were then notified of a man bleeding on the patio at 602 Picadilly Square. They collected DNA...

Evidence leads them to believe CT abducted Faye and he is the perpetrator of this crime.

Faye's body moved in the shadow of night early morning hours the day she was found.
