how would you do it? brick on the gas pedal? Too much noise? you could NOT push it in without some part of the vehicle sticking out above water. its not a dead fall down past the ramp.

You'd have to brick the gas pedal and tie off the steering wheel to get it all the way in. Pushing would leave it sticking out. A few years ago, someone did this to two cars and aimed them at a local school. One of the cars missed the front windows and crashed into the wall. The other went into the windows, across the cafeteria, and just missed taking out a support pillar that would've sent the 2nd floor balcony crashing down.

My guess is that they couldn't make it work properly or thought they saw someone watching, so they just took off.

(oh, oh, Wondergirl's in the house, look out) Hi Wondergirl :seeya:

Truth Prevails, thanks for joining us! :)

Heather is my niece. She did indeed call from the condo. The lady who reported Heather's car at PTL was mistaken about the day.
Thank you for all the brainstorming, time and effort everyone has put into this case. I've read every single post and am most appreciative. We are heartbroken and pray for Heather's safe return.

:heartbeat: We are all hoping for Heather's safe return! :heartbeat:

A lot of people her age live in those condos (Coastal Carolina Students), I remember I looked into getting an apartment there at one point with a girlfriend. Also delivered pizzas there ALOT when I worked at the dominos on 501. Granted it was the summer but every time I delivered to River Oaks at night there were people in there mid 20's hanging out outside smoking cigarettes or walking around the parking lot talking on the phone. Fair share of house parties. Its not like most other condo areas around here where its exclusively older retired residents who mainly keep to themselves (although theres a little of that in river oaks as well)

The closest gas station is right across 501 from the River Oaks condos although I don't remember if its 24 hours ( http://bit.ly/19x6ZWI ).

The next closest is indeed open 24/7 located on waccamaw blvd which travels parallel to 501 going north( http://bit.ly/1hNMxmN ) **The route is wrong. You should be able to make a right onto 501 from River Oaks Dr.**.

Closest grocery store is Food Lion ( http://bit.ly/1ejzqHK ) on the entrance to forest brook rd.

Her closest Walmart is on seaboard street ( http://bit.ly/18RJSYS ) but if I lived in River Oaks I would frequent the nicer Walmart the opposite direction on 501 closer to Carolina Forest ( http://bit.ly/Kdy20l ). ...Seaboard street walmart is dirty

Here is a consolidated map pointing to everything at once.

A lot of those younger people in those condos had just gone home for Christmas break, so foot traffic would be much lighter after that. Especially at that time of night. This area is a lot less crowded in the winter when the college kids are gone and there aren't many tourists.

Also, the Wal-Mart in Carolina Forest is most of the way to Conway. It's farther from River Oaks than the Seaboard Wal-Mart by a good bit. I've gone to the Seaboard location in the middle of the night because it was convenient. The other one is just so far away comparatively, and feels further when you're driving there.

I agree 100%
I just say I like to avoid the seaboard street walmart because I don't like it. yet I'm always too lazy to travel further and end up going there anyway.

Welcome all new members and 30 Guests :)

:welcome:

Thank you locals for your eyes, ears and feet on the ground. Your efforts are invaluable.

Hoping today is the day that Heather comes home.

I also think she would know the bad areas and where not to go. She is local so how could she not.

You guys are rockin it here. Keep up the great work!

Anyone want to explain to me how tumblr is used? I saw a link to what was said to be Heather's account in another thread and wondered. Thanks...

I have been wondering about the condo. What kind of condition, signs of a struggle, stuff missing etc...

Ommited the link to tweet

HE roommate tweet suggests she was cleared to go home when she returned. if there was signs of any kind of foul play in the apartment then LE would have blocked it off.

its a blogging website where you can follow or be followed much like twitter. you can posts blogs, put usually (as I do) people tend to just re-blog (or retweet) blogs. thats what she was doing between 1:57 and 2:09AM on dec 18th. re-blogging exactly 10 posts. could have been done by smart phone or computer. by her twitter selfie pictures taken through a mirror we can see that she had an android smart phone. there is a tumblr application available for android devices so she could have either been at home with her laptop, at home on her cellphone or out and about on her cellphone.

If this was a suicide would Le still be doing all this. The same question for the search group

Thanks so much for explaining it! So that makes the discovery of the car on Thursday morning slightly over 24 hours from when "something" happened.

If she was bored enough to browse tmblr I'm like 95% sure she got on Facebook, maybe instant messaged some people. That access to her Facebook account provides valuable information I'm sure. I hope/sure LE has contacted her cell provider and Facebook and other social networking sites with the proper legal paperwork to get her passwords, texting history and voicemails

Re: my post above, can someone please read the twitter and fb links so I can immediately update; my eyes can't read them. TIA.

One thing I forgot to mention is this:

Pure speculation here, but since the car was askew and facing the water, I wonder if someone tried to tie off the wheel and block the accelerator to send the car into the water, but they didn't know how to do it properly and the car was left as it was found. Had it worked, the car may not have been found for a while.

PS: How do I find the scanner thread?

Here is the link to the Heather Elvis Scanner Thread
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?p=10071768&posted=1#post10071768

Please take a look at the Scanner Rules first:
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=215996

TOS requires that anything discussed in the in the Scanner Thread must remain there and not here. I'm new to the Scanner Thread myself.

Hope this helps! :)

Let's remember Alice Donovan~abducted from Wal*Mart in Conway Nov. 14, 2002. Monica Caison and crew spent years looking for her. Alice's remains were recovered from a wooded area near Watertower Road and Long Bay Road in Horry County. That's in close proximity of River Oaks. Makes me sick thinking about it.

This is why I said in the first thread that Watertower Rd feels to me like a place that needs to be searched. Alice Donovan's body was not the only body that has been dumped there in the past. After the forest fire in 2009, there were rumored to be 6 or 7 burned bodies found throughout the woods in that area after they put the fire out. Whether any of those were identified, I have not heard. It was kept hush hush, but I know a firefighter who worked that fire who told me this. I drive this road often being that I have family that moved there a few years ago. As I said in my first post, I often get an uneasy feeling driving down it at night. I myself have called the police in the past due to suspicious looking circumstances. They didn't seem too interested in hearing what I had to say though.
