OKG,

Someone posted another good maps site the other day. Did you see it?
I wanted to check it out but now cannot remember.

Possibly, but I don't really remember. This one is pretty nifty though, if you're looking for something specific:

http://www.horrycounty.org/apps/gis/view.html

I want to know what they were doing in Georgetown! At 10:30 at night. No good reason to go to G'twn late at night. Very suspicious journey

Wait, what?

ETA: Oh, do you mean the night in February when they were alleged shot at?

Do you know if LE has had to share all the evidence that they have at this time? Do all the cards have to be on the table right now?

No I dont believe they shared everything with him. or that they even had to share everything. but they showed him something. and he abruptly did an about face with in 2 weeks. Im hoping LE has the evidence that they really need to bring this case to prosecution.

In keeping with what OkieGranny said about Conway, I just assumed that the area the Moorers were in when the IE charge happened was searched. Now I wonder if it was. This is going to sound really stupid, but there is this huge, empty field, right there on that corner. There is also a small fenced in area (like for holding dumpsters, but it doesn't have any dumpster showing in it) covered with bushes and trees that looks like a perfect place to leave...anything.

Look here and zoom in near what I have marked with the 1st IE charge. Drop the walking guy on the corner.

I have not heard anything. Ever since they announced they were stopping, I had a few thoughts. I was hoping others may know more from other cases and could shed some light.

Could they be searching and just don't want it known to the public or the Moorer's? I hope yes and think yes, because anything is possible.
If no, is this common at around 6 weeks or so to stop searching, especially when you have made arrests?
Could it be because they have run out of ideas of where to look and need more tips?
Any other thoughts as to why they stopped the search?

Thanks.

I don't think they have any ideas on where she is and they know the M's aren't going to talk.

They said if they get credible leads they'll search, even if it's an area they've searched previously. But they need tips. Tips seem unlikely unless someone who was part of the crime talks. I think they're resigned to not finding her and that's reflected in the remarks about not needing a body to get the M's prosecuted.

And I don't think this will be a case of someone just coming across her body.

I am hoping that whatever evidence they took from the house the day of the arrest will be important, I don't know how long it takes to process, although SLED was helping.
Also, in regards to the guns that were out in plain view when they came to serve the search warrants and arrest warrants, could these guns have been in another place the first time that LE searched? Could TM and SM started to believe that they were in the clear and thought that LE wouldn't come back. I wonder if any of those guns were collected as evidence?

"No good reason to go to G'town late at night." Georgetown is a county, right? So, why shouldn't people go there at 10:30? Maybe they were visiting a friend or family. Maybe they decide to go out shopping or dinner and/or a movie and because of everything they didn't want to go as a family out in Horry County. I am not familiar with the population in your counties. But, in one of the two states I live, our county population is well over 5 million and I often, bump into someone I know. So, maybe they didn't want to bump into anyone they knew if they were in a public place.

Hi, that big empty field is in use every weekend, if you look closely in the field you will see several soccer goals. That is a popular place for soccer on the weekends, in the warm and cold weather. Also, beside of the field to the left where you see the large flat black roof. That is part of CCU(coastal carolina univeristy). There is also a plant where they bottle water, a beer distribution plant and numerous small businesses. It is very busy industrial area right off of highway 501. Also if you follow Atlantic Ave to the left where the road curves is a weather station and a tower. All of these places are businesses and part of the school, so sure to be cameras from many angles.
Hope that this helps.

Georgetown from the M's house isn't too far. About 30-40 minutes. On the way there is a lot of open land, marsh land, rivers and swamps. They cross over the Waccamaw and Great Pee Dee river going over the bridges on 17 into Georgetown. Places where rivers meet together are pretty broad and have quicker currents.
JMO, I as a parent woudn't make the drive to Georgetown at night unless it was an emergency. It doesn't make sense to me.

But does anyone ever look in that little fenced area? Or the trees surrounding it? This is another one of those "experience leads me to ask" things where some kids playing in a similar type of area (near a ball field that was used every weekend it wasn't raining-cameras all over the field to keep the copper wiring from being stolen) where I live found a plastic bag full of jewelry. It turned out it was from a burglary from two years previous. Fingerprints on the jewelry confirmed it was the same person who was arrested burglarizing another house the day after that bag of jewelry went missing. The theory was that he intended to go back for it and got incarcerated instead. But that bag was there for two years and no one found it. My point being, what if some evidence was left in that area? Not Heather, but just some evidence of some kind?

I live in Myrtle Beach right around the corner from the M's. I have been to PTL to put my jet skis in. Our boat was too big to launch there. We used Enterprise Landing for the boat. but on holidays or when EL was too busy we used PTL. that is a lonely desolate place late at night. My kids graduated from Socastee High School. I have been on the Jonbenet Ramsey forums for years. I am an avid true crime follower.

MB is a big, small town. If that makes sense. I asked my son if they used to party at PTL during and after high school and he said no they went to EL down by Waccatee Zoo. There was no good reason for HE to be there. I fully believe the M's are the right people to be in jail. Whether it can be proven is another matter.
The affidavits for the SW had to spell out what LE thinks happened. We have not seen those yet. I hope Monday brings out some new info to give us more confidence that LE has compelling evidence.
In the Ramsey case, neither parent was arrested because they didnt know who did what. you cant just charge both, have a trial and see what sticks. Both M's are arrested in this case so LE must have a pretty good idea who did what, when, where and how. Maybe the why is not so important as the rest. The why matters to us.
I too have been to Disney many times. Had a time share there at Old Key West. The only reason I ever went to Georgetown was on my way to Charleston or Disney. There are no good shopping places or restaurants. Not when compared to MB anyways. No malls or outlets. I dont have a clue why the M's would be there late at night unless they were visiting someone.
And I dont think either one will talk this early. They may still think they can walk away. but as time goes on and more of LE evidence is revealed they may rethink their options. one may take the fall so that the other can go home and raise the kids. better to have one parent than no parent. or they may claim accidental death hoping to make a better deal. the closer we get to trial may make a difference. until then
all we can do is speculate, guess and hope there are some real answers and that LE has those answers.

Okay I see where you are talking about now, there is a dumpster there, the gravel/grassy area and along the road is where people park when they play. There are easily 50-150 people there with 1 or 2 games going at but with freezing temps or rain they would be there that coming weekend,
also TM could have found out the weekly schedule from waste managment and knew when they emptied the dumpster.

I think for Heather to go to PTL at that hour she had to be familiar and comfortable with the area. I believe she was, also comfortable with who she was going to meet there, there again I believe she was. Those two things combined I myself wouldn't worry about the time if were something or someone really important.

Okay, so I've been studying satellite images and there are a number of swamps up north of Conway. I'd show you a map of them, but am out of bandwith on Photobucket until the 19th. :banghead:

Obviously, I'm still wondering about the reason the Ms went to Conway during that particular period of time. Has any searching been done in that area?

I wish we new what time that IE happened! :banghead:

Can anyone local tell me what they know about Don's Car Crushing in Conway?

not to belabor the point but here is what is a red flag to me-- the state of the "evidence" that SM defense attorney saw went from "there will be a trial" on Feb 24th to "I dont even know how they could arrest him with this evidence" by March 7th. in that 2 week time span more investigation was done, more tests came back, more experts weighed in, he had more time to review what LE had presented to him. Maybe he conferred with other attys who gave him insight into the "evidence". According to the comments by the defense atty, the "evidence" became weaker in his eyes as the 2 weeks passed, not stronger. red flag? I would say so. imho.

Not necessarily. "There will be a trial" could mean that he thought the prosecution's case was weak, hence worth trying from his stand point. Besides, I think he's just doing what defense attorneys do. ;)

I'm confused about the Georgetown issue. Did the M's go to Georgetown, the city to the south of MB, late at night? I thought we were talking about the IE incident that happened near Conway. . .and the Horry Georgetown Technical College.

well I was at dons today(its after midnight, so was there Friday around 1-1:30pm)

Do they have very large dumpsters for scrap metal? Do they lock up tight at night? I have a similar place near me and they leave a huge dumpster outside the fences that people can throw the scrap that doesn't pay in. . like toasters, etc.

The address for IE charge in conway is actually beside a building that is part of CCU. Horry georgetown is across hwy 501 not the address listed for the charge.

I know the spot of the IE. I was just saying in general. Obviously I'm not local, so I thought maybe that area was called "Georgetown" because of the technical college. Did the M's actually travel to Georgetown the city to the south of MB? I missed that if they did.

Georgetown is a county mostly made up of very small communities, in addition to the city of Georgetown, and there's nothing to do in those communities... no movie theaters, shopping plazas, etcetera. The city of GTown does have quite a few local shops and such, but they all close up shop pretty early. AFAIK, there isn't a movie theater or anything much to do there either. Plus, as I think someone else may have already mentioned... there's a huge paper mill in Georgetown and that smell takes some getting used to for most people.

The actual city of Georgetown. That's where the first police report was filed by SM... regarding gun shots coming from a truck that appeared to be following him and his family.
