The story told to dispatch sounded scripted as well.....moo

......"he grabbed my taser"......liar liar.....I hate liars.

Is this guy actually driving a Mercedes Benz? And he owes back child support? Or was that just a rumor?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/ushome/index.html

I still feel it was murder...but I'm also shaking my head in disbelief.....

My father had vacation homes in Aspen and Sanibel, really nice vehicles and even nicer girlfriends, and often stiffed my mom for child support as well as our college tuition monies.

But I don't think shooting him in the back 8 times would have been an exacting measure.

Pretty sure that is just murder.

who cares what the car was......it was an older model fgs....entry level, even.....do we even know the mileage??

Bottom line this man was no threat....

eta:...is this even legal in the Geneva whats it ?

I believe I said that, as well.

Moreover, the Geneva Convention also defines the rights and protections afforded to non-combatants, yet, because the Geneva Conventions are about people in war, the articles do not address warfare proper—the use of weapons of war—

The Geneva Conventions are international treaties binding on all States which have accepted them

Imo, laws are all well and good as long as they are enforced correctly !!

I read that it was an old, 1990 model. not exactly living high off the hog.

My first car as a 17 year old was a BMW. It was under $2,000.
It ran until my brother totaled it when I was 27 ($300k miles.)
I currently drive a BMW. It was $1,000.
The older German cars are a great way to drive a reliable, cheap car.
(Especially for me since my brother and his friends work on my car for really cheap if it needs it.) :twocents:

A brand new car would be a much less cost effective choice.

I'm not driving a Mercedes.

My husband and I are both educators. So our income is not considered even middle class (sadly). He drives a really nice BMW, but it is a dozen years old. I drive an SUV that is 10 years old but paid for. And maintained in pristine condition. And our home is modest and older, but kept in the best of care.

We live modestly and save our money and to be honest, have more in savings than our friends who earn MUCH more than do we. Because we are careful with our money and take care of our things so they last for a long time,

So having a nice, but 25-year-old car is not necessarily indicative of being a spendthrift.

Also, this poor man is dead not because he was driving a Mercedes.

Word.

That was supposed to be in response to msF's post about her old beemer.

My family actually owns 12 BMW's total.
Even all added up they don't equal HALF what my Dad paid for his new truck. :twocents:
So yeah... I think the "he was driving a Mercedes" is MEANT to be inflammatory.
For those who don't realize it was cheaper than a new Honda. :twocents:

Oh and my current BMW? It's name is Wobbles. So clearly... I'm not living in luxury. :giggle:

Lol, great (frugal) minds think alike!

ETA: i grew up on hand-me-down Volvos and those dadgum things run forever! I got 300k on my old wagon that got me through college!

Gotta agree here. Buying a 25 year old merc doesn't suggest wealth to me. In fact, quite the opposite.

We are trying to clear up the confusion, because people keep thinking the two cases are the same.
A mod would have to clean up the thread at this point and remove all references to the other case.
And as far as I know, there is not a thread for the other case.

People reading the entire thread from start to finish would also eliminate the confusion.
I cleared it up quickly after it was initially mentioned.

I don't think that's a realistic expectation, Ms.F. Some of these threads are 90+ pages long!

But as soon as the first poster pointed out to me that I had conflated two unrelated cases, I quickly deleted the confusing posts. And I was happy to do so. I'm confident we can police ourselves most of the time--because you and other posters correct us so graciously.

When I watched the video I was nervous for the guy filming it. He probably wasn't as close as it seemed, and yes there WAS a fence between them, bit I kept thinking "if they see him filming they will go after him and he could end up just as dead".

Course realistically if they HAD seen him and caught him they just would have destroyed the video and no one would believe his story anyway.

I think they DID see him and they asked him to remain on-the-scene so that they could take the video into evidence or take his statement and he ran.

Santana says it himself on this video, IIRC.

I agree, but this was when the thread was 2 pages long. I don't think that is unreasonable.
Besides, it would have kept this thread a page shorter without all the confusion posts! :giggle:

I wonder why her told LE that he had the video. I would have been too terrified & paranoid.

Watching it air on CNN right now. It looked like he was pretty obvious to me, not hiding or anything. I think one of the officers (maybe both) looked straight at him.
