Man, it would seem like he was a good possibility but for this:
The remains have been in the Waccamaw area for years, according to Lt. Robert Kegler with the Horry County Police Department.

Wonder if they could be that off?

But I can't get over search teams finding remains TWICE and seeming to be unrelated to the people they're actually looking for! Have we ever seen that happen in anything that isn't seeming like a serial murder situation?

Investigators are going to be busy - two sets of remains and a slew of recent missing people all in the same area (never mind any older missing people...)

I saw an interview on TV with Zach's dad. He was helping with the search for Heather Elvis. He said he had never heard of CUE before Zach went missing but now he would always be a part of it. (paraphrased) Feel so badly for him. Hope they can find out what happened to their son.

Malinowski's step-dad, Lonnie Jordan, is calling for a change in how missing persons cases are dealt with in the county. "I hate seeing other families, like the Elvis family going through this. You try to reach out, but they're not very receptive, because during that time you pull in, you don't know who to trust," said Jordan. No family chooses this ordeal, and many don't know the first steps to take.

I may be wrong here and I'm sorry if I'm mistaken but as far as the remains go (that were found a few weeks ago) they couldn't be Zach because the clothes and necklace didn't match what he was last seen wearing, right?

Right. And the remains have been there too long. In addition the remains show that the UID once had a halo device.

Saturday, March 1 there will be a candlelight vigil held for missing woman Angie Pipkin, and others missing from Horry County at 7 p.m. in Aynor Town Park.

Family members of Aynor's missing Zack Malinowski are organizing the event.

Horry County has a number of current missing person's cases. More information on those cases can be found here: http://www.wmbfnews.com/story/24331448/questions-surround-the-human-remains-found-on-tidewater-rd

Malinowski’s mother told police she last heard he was going to Aynor to play basketball with a friend.

When his mother went to look for her son, the friend refused to answer any questions, according to an Aug. 27 police report.

Some new information here. Zach was staying with his grandparents at the time he disappeared. His grandfather tells about finding the car and that Zach's sandals were found nearby which led them to search there.

Marcus said he has heard that Zachary's cell phone also pinged earlier that evening at his home, which suggests Zachary made it back home at some point. Marcus made another discovery, shortly after Zachary's disappearance. He noticed a dent in his truck. Zachary's car was always parked next to Marcus' truck when he was home. He said he showed police and told them the only place the truck is parked, is at home and work. He said when it's at work, he parks on the outside lane, where no other cars park. He thinks an altercation involving Zachary may have caused it, and thinks maybe Zachary was taken from home.

Zachary's case was featured in an article about the CUE's Roadside Rally.

"Lonnie Jordon's stepson went missing in August 2013 after he was playing basketball with friends. He said his stepson's friends have not been cooperative in answering questions about events leading up to Jordon's disappearance, especially after his car was found burned to the ground."

I see similarities with the case of Dalton Pruitt, who went missing from Columbia last month.
