Not interested? It's been covered by The Sun, People magazine, US News and World Report, Fox News, Nancy Grace, the Polly Klaas Foundation, Live PD and others. If you google her name, 78,000 results come up. Every missing child should get this much coverage. It's been 6 months. MSM isn't going to give any more updates until there's something to report on the case.

This case had little to no attention and in the beginning it was felt a thread or few may not even result. I remember well popping in just to bump the case that had little interest.

I went back and read yesterday posts in the first few threads.

The attention came after people not letting it go imo, and probably due to online efforts that were finally picked up. There were locals saying they had not even heard of it or that nothing was going on.

Every person I talked to in the first months had never heard of it.

There were also a lot of locals in the first months providing some relevant information as to the state, ability to search and the home.

Every missing child should get this much attention as you say but Serenity did not start out that way--in fact, she looked like she was going to be a runaway throwaway problem child case that looked like it was just going to go away and be forgotten and this is how she caught my heart. We agonized over lack of searches.

People on here also wanted more info on her and her background/life for a long time, many posts relate to that as well and the senator and some parents finally provided that and brought attention to it as well. Nothing political about my statement, I have no idea of her political views, I am talking about her bringing attention to this child.

Not meant to argue but my opinion differs vastly from yours as do I believe a few others. Happy to agree to disagree and jmo.

The post I replied to said there was no MSM interest in this case. I said IMO there was, and gave examples. That was the extent of it. If that's what we're agreeing to disagree about, I'm all for it.

Soooooo much more media attention than the majority of cases we see here... MOO
Yes, sort of. I wouldn't say she has really become a " media darling" or anything like that. And truthfully, there really hasnt been much to really report. Not one solid lead or piece of evidence since she disappeared, other than the occasional scent of something (which may or not be related) by dogs. That leaves MSM often to have to resort to mere speculation.

I wonder, could her scent have been from an earlier time in the year- maybe if she went on a hike or ran away before, but they found her?

My understanding is that cadaver scent is distinct from tracking/live scent, and cadaver dogs were what alerted to the scent reported.

Also, live scent is more ephemeral - it may linger for a few weeks, but not many months. This was just being discussed on another thread today. WY - WY - Aubree Corona, 28, did not return to campsite, Sublette County, 13 Jul 2019

My amateur opinion only!

I don't disagree. There is now more attention and I am happy about it. Not that I think they will find her necessarily.

Jmo.

Authorities spent the weekend in western South Dakota looking for signs of Serenity Dennard.

On Sunday, the Pennington County Sheriff's Office posted a video of Hawk, one of the Search & Rescue Dogs of America, hard at work.

[...]

According to the Facebook post, Hawk will be assisting the sheriff's office until Thursday.

From the article:
  • The dog team from Colorado joined in a two-mile radius search.
  • They continue to hit on scents but still no other evidence.
  • Thom said they are still narrowing in and eliminating certain areas.
  • He says odors can carry for 5 to 10 miles but walking just one square mile of the rough terrain is a challenge for search teams.
  • Nearly 4,400 hours have been logged with the help of dog teams from 5 states.
  • Thom said the search is still weather dependent but the volunteer dog team from Colorado will remain in the area till Thursday.
  • Investigators continue to look into new leads from other states as well.

We have a missing child report made quite a while after Serenity supposedly bolted and we have an eye witness putting a little girl outside the home some time after they noticed she was missing otherwise we don't have much. Serenity is somewhere. I'm just not sure anymore that she is there. While I've always suspected she succumbed to the elements, who knows when she really disappeared? Who knows what really happened?

Yep, Joe Public has not been provided one shred of irrefutable proof of when she actually went missing in the way of video or such.

I don't believe she is in the woods and, if she is found there, I do not believe it is due to her voluntary actions without cause.

Others will disagree but it remains my opinion.

Hawk and handler Melissa follow scent leads this morning and evening. The cooler weather provides better working conditions for the canines looking for Serenity Dennard. #missingCHILD

From SARDUS (Search and Rescue Dogs of the United States), Melissa and her dog Hawk worked hard morning and night for the last five days. We thank them for their effort and expertise. The search and investigation continue for Serenity Dennard, who ran away from the Black Hills Children's Home February 3.
