Well, our church sure isn't promoting this idea!!!

It's surreal, isn't it? The Coleman case is almost epic in it's portrayal of the battle between good and evil. You can look around and see how deceived and deceiving religious leaders have completely invalidated "Matthew 5", In which Jesus holds out the keys to the Kingdom of God.

There are a couple of churches in St. Louis that are directly involved with and supported by Joyce Meyer Ministries. One of these churches is the St. Louis Dream Center. Those who work for The Dream Center will usually say that they work for JMM because the two are so closely related. There is another church in St. Louis other than The Dream Center that is also closely linked with JMM but the name escapes me.

The church that CC and SC attended is not a church that is unusually close to JMM; they share a common theological viewpoint and many at Destiny are followers of JMM. There are other JMM employees who attend Destiny Church which may've been how CC and SC ended up there.

So tell me .. how many more people would have been killed in the church in Colorado had not a security guard (female) been armed?

I don't remember Jesus going all Krav Maga on the moneylenders in the temple...

He drove them out with a whip. Conversely, they had no firearms in those times but firearms exist and fall into the hands of the wrong people in many instances in the times we live in.

You got that right! Well, the Bible does say that in the end times there will be an increase of heresy. SCARY!!!

Security is one thing...hand to hand combat is just...SCARY! Those people in Colorado wouldn't have a chance if all they used was hand to hand combat, right?

Jesus wasn't defending Himself - totally different context.

Sorry - not following. What happened in Colorado and how does it figure into this case?

And you are right, it doesn't figure in this case. Analytical, we can take this to the PP in the basement but need to stop the discussion here. Thanks! :)

If I recall correctly that CC (Credit Card) that was in SC's name was a HSBC CC or a Capital One CC.

Anyhow both HSBC and CAP1 offer secured CC's for people who are trying to build credit.

It's an apples and oranges conversation - and without going down too much of a rabbit trail for this already convoluted thread (speaking of epic!), suffice to say that Jesus Christ was a radical revolutionary who exposed memetic violence (programmed, taught, generational) as the obstacle to the Kingdom:

"Jesus explicitly rejects the saving of his life if it means that violence is to be deployed. Jesus will have nothing to do with popular expectations of a retributive (“just”) messiah. A retributive messiah does not embody the will of his heavenly Abba because the heavenly Father is non-retributive. Rather Jesus forgives and loves by imitating his heavenly Father who forgives because the heavenly Father is Love. God is willing to lose God’s life in order that we, humans, may be reconciled, redeemed and transformed." Rene Girard

Impossible that Coleman could have received threats? It happened in this case ... http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,316322,00.html

Colorado Church Gunman Had Grudge Against Christian Group, Cops Say
Monday, December 10, 2007

<snip>

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The gunman believed to have killed four people in a pair of shooting sprees at a megachurch in Colorado Springs and a missionary training school near Denver had been thrown out of the missionary school a few years ago and had been sending it hate mail, police said in court papers Monday.

The gunman was identified as Matthew Murray, 24, who was home-schooled in what a friend said was a deeply religious Christian household. Murray's father is a neurologist and a leading multiple-sclerosis researcher.

Sorry, but I take the scripture at face value and don't put any stock in extra-Biblical "opinions"

I had a Capital One card when I first started building my own credit. It wasn't secured, but it had a very low limit which was increased as I made my payments on time etc. I think HSBC administrates a lot of different credit cards. Do you think Sheri may have been trying to get her own credit card as part of an escape plan?

Sorry, I wasn't referring to a conference. I was asking if it was usual for the members of Destiny church to also be involved in JMM? I think there's a difference between volunteering for a conference (which I have done) and getting involved in JMM - ie; mission trips etc.

I don't know that you have to be a member of JMM to volunteer for her missions, but you do for Destiny Church's missions:

Sorry if this has already been posted - I'm still catching up.
