There are several investigations going on ( financial, criminal, and civil ) . They want immunity because telling their story may expose them in one or all of these investigations.

Financial investigation? I haven't heard about that, but I sure hope that's right!

It is and you wont ever hear a word about it . There were many complaints about the donation jars and t shirt sales - trust funds etc . If wrong doing is found I believe they will once again get the grieving family break and be allowed to come into compliance .

If they disregard the report and dont correct - then other measures will
be taken.

I hope they are investigating, there are things that have happened that make me question where the money is coming from. The only one working in the home, at this point, is Lee. How are they making it ? I really do hope the investigation is thorough.

Unfortunately, I believe that you are correct. The senior A's are the parents of the alleged perp but are also the grandparents of the victim. This may provide them with a 'get out of jail free' card.

Their behaviour may be disgusting but is it illegal? I am not a lawyer, so I do not know, and we do not have all the info that LE is privy to. I seriously doubt there will be any charges laid against the A's (unless a MAJOR infraction of the law has/is/will occur)

Do you all think we may need a Department devoted to them? OCSO Anthony Division!

I voted no because I don't have enough facts to say they are guilty of anything except hysteria. I don't think anything they said or did would reach the level that is required to "charge them " with something.
Unless other facts become available and then I reserve my right to change my mind.

Did anyone forget possible obstruction( washing pants that smelled like a dead body), not telling LE that Pooh blanket was missing, not giving correct hair brush to LE for Caylee, not giving all pertinent receipts to LE and last but not least- Possibly collecting funds for a live child when they may have known she was gone( based on those searches for her prior to RK finding her).
Those things all seem to be illegal to me! JMO.

Seems that way to me also. twomanywords, but does it seem that way to a court of law? Is there a certain level a crime must rise to before it is worthwhile to bring charges?

I am sure the SA has some discretion in deciding who to charge for what and must take several factors into account. Weighing the cost of the trial and the courts time against what? Maybe the SA's office will decide that the A's are just not worth it.

I've often wondered this myself, Paintr. We know some of the things that they have done that raises the ire of the public at large, but do they actually break a law, and does the SA think it is a case that can be won in a court of law? Or, are they just waiting to put the A's on the stand at KC's trial before they 'move in'? We will just have to wait and see.

There is a saying around here, chefmom. 'Dont sweat the small, petty stuff and don't pet the small, sweaty stuff'. LOL! Maybe the SA has heard this saying.

Guess what it boils down to is what is the 'benefit' to the state of Florida, to bring the Anthonys up on charges (if they have indeed reached that level)?

I wonder about the example it sets for future cases if they are allowed to seemingly obstruct justice without any consequences. What will the family of the next perp do to prevent their relative facing justice? Maybe next time it won't be hairbrushes and mistruths.

Lol! I'll have to remember that saying! But, ya know I worry about what other, future "families of the perp" may take from this as well. I honestly can't remember a case where there has been so much lying and seeming covering up in my life. I have followed true crime since I was a little kid and would sneak into my dad's room and read his detective novels. Can't remember the name, but they talked about true crimes and I know the word detective was in the title, and I was just a kid then. But, with all of those, and every one I have followed since, I can't remember one where it seemed that everything was based on a lie. Sure, there was some lying. There almost always is some. But not like this one. It is simply off the charts.

ITA! Could you imagine if this 'nanny' had really taken Caylee? Cindy would be standing on the courthouse steps demanding retribution at the top of her lungs. Instead we get 'mother of the year.'

I keep telling myself that this family and this case are not the norm. There are responsible, law abiding people out there who stick to their beliefs even in the face of horrible tragedy. Remember the family of Mark Hackings?

Not long ago, the wealthy parents of preppy rapist smuggled him out of the country while he was out on bail and supported him royally for years while telling LE they didn't know where their son was. They even visited him in (Switzerland? Sweden?) and took family photos.

After several years, LE finally got ahold of an envelope with his return address sent to another relative who threw it out in the trash. It seems to me LE contacted Interpol and had him picked up in Europe.

I apologize for not having the exact names and facts at hand, but the point of this is that his parents were never charged with obstruction, lying to LE, or anything else. If they weren't charged, I can't imagine how the A's could be charged.

Although...the story I just related did not involve the murder of an innocent toddler. (Not to imply that rape isn't bad enough!)

Re my bold: I regret to say that part of the reason is that concepts like "honesty" and "integrity" and "keeping your word" have lost much of their importance over the last couple generations. Evidently, so have evils like "perjury," and "swearing a false oath on the bible."

So sad.

You are so right, Friday! I had forgotten about that one. A.K.. His parents paid for him to be on the lam in Switzerland for 8 years, I believe. He was finally brought back to CT and convicted of rape. They were never charged with anything, IIRC. So, we probably won't see anything done to the A's if FL is anything like CT.

Again, you are so right. And, it is so sad.

..i remember this story from magazine-through-internet days.

I know as a parent my first priority ... if I got my daughters car back after being abandoned for two weeks wreaking of death.. Would be to find my daughter and granddaughter and make sure they were both ok... not clean the car and do laundry.

I could hardly believe my eyes, when I learned there was a poll, I had never voted on before now, dealing with an issue that makes my blood boil. I've been gripping about this for months. I've LOTS to say, but find just one little factoid enough to say for starters. After this arrest, I'll unleash all my other "charges" against these people...
George (a 12 year cop vet) recognized the "smell of death" in KC's car. Therefore, (no matter who's death stink it was!!!) the car was a CRIME SCENE. To KNOWINGLY drive off the lot in a CRIME SCENE vehicle is a CRIME in of itself. Nuff said. Read him his rights Dano!
