I wonder if the reluctant defense witness who does not want to give a deposition is Matt? I would think JW and KN would have been on of the witnesses they did not want to call that Jodi would have wanted. I do not think he would make a good witness for her at this point. jmo

Arias will have to ask Juan Martinez for the evidence held by Detective Flores she wants to examine or investigate. Don't you wonder what this evidence is? I do. Partly, I am curious because it will provide some insight into what she is thinking will be effective before a jury in mitigating her hideous offenses.

Wheely is adorable!

I hope JM makes her wish she never stepped foot into that court room when the time comes..

BBM She did say that someone-( can't remember who- maybe Matt Macarthy?)- could verify that she had the bruises. Don't remember why this person didn't testify for her. Maybe she will try to have that person testify in the retrial?

Anyone else remember that?
Pretty sure it was Matt who was supposed to have seen these alleged bruises. I don't remember why he was never called to testify, but isn't he suspected of being the person the message written in the pages of the magazine were directed to? Maybe that's it?

Or- wasn't he the one who helped with that 10 page pedo letter that was suppose to have been written by Travis (confessing that he was a pedophile)? It was proven by a hadwriting expert that it wasn't Travis that wrote them. Maybe she will bring in her own expert to say that Travis did write them?

I'm going to take a guess and say it was the magazine because JM never gave her the chance to deny she wrote in code.

Just reading that article brought back memories. The killer is a real piece of work. Demanding that anyone come see her to "fix this" before they are interviewed further. Seems she has a real hold on men, well her ex boyfriends anyway. Don't get it at all.

And please remind me. Who was Ann Campbell? Was she the first mitigation specialist and therefore had to resign due to being caught up in this? Article says she was a friend to Arias.

I always assumed JM didn't call him because he didn't need him and defense didn't call him because they knew prosecutor would eat him alive if they did. I wonder if JA thinks all her past associates will come and defend her if she compels them to testify. Does she believe they would lie for her? Probably. And how about that old guy who worked with Travis, the one Jodi stayed with at his trailer, could she be planning to call him? Seems defense didn't want ANY of those folks on the stand because of what JM would do to them and to the case. Is she so arrogant as to believe these people will help her case? I think she is.

Tuba, I am very curious. What is it and what could she do with it? She believes in her sick mind that she can bring forth some information that will help her. I can see her opening the doors for JM to blow it up in her face. Wish we had immediate access to viewing the courtroom as it unfolds.

I agree. Wheely is just too cute!

Searcy was the name of Travis's associate. He claimed to know things that could either hurt or help her. Such a character.

Yes he did, allegedly. If he testified to bruises that would be a lie because I would never believe Travis harmed her in any way. With any luck, she will bury herself.

I believe the "reluctant" witness could be anyone and everyone who ever knew her. I still believe a lot of people are afraid of her.

Jenise's killer has been apprehended. A 17 year old.

My stomach always lurches when the profile I come up with is almost spot on. If the TOD comes in within my time frame, I think I'll throw up. Thinking like a perp may help us solve the crime.........but damnit if it doesn't take a toll when the arrest comes.

RIP, Jenise........what a precious gift she was.

Although the killer didn't have statutory mitigators, she wanted to refer to lesser included factors. These were allegations she was never able to substantiate but which did (creatively) make her feel oh, so sorry for herself. Remember the many times she asserted she was bruised here and bruised there? Despite all of the snapshots & selfies, she had no pictures. Then too, she says she suffered post traumatic stress. I guess that happens when you cause the trauma & know there will be hell to pay. Interesting that she didn't introduce these in any way in her allocution. So why blame her lawyers for omitting them?

I don't know how to bold part of your post. It was priceless! "I guess that happens when you cause trauma and know there will be hell to pay.". LOL. LOL. LOL

I do believe in the DP, live in a DP state. I think the killer will get life. Narcissists are masters at charming and convincing people to their views. With the killer representing herself, the jury will become connected to her as a person and not the monster that she is. I think the person image will work in her favor. Me, I would have given her DP the first trial.

I sure would like to believe you are wrong Kensie. It's scary to think this could happen. Wish you were going to be on that jury!

We've come to a strange pass. In her interview with AZ Central, Arias did assert that there were mitigators and witnesses her attorneys refused to bring forward. She also said she was at odds with their theory of the case at that point. She made clear that she and Nurmi did not like one another. Nurmi has now hit the ceiling of what he can tolerate and makes clear he & his client cannot agree. He thinks his role as advisor is insignificant and should not compel his further participation. Therefore, the views of lawyer & client converge and it is only court practice that tethers them together. Could this be any more awkward?

Judge Stephens did caution Arias that she was forfeiting the right to complain later her counsel was ineffective when her honor heard the self-representation request. Let's see if we can find that warning and whether it was limited.

Going to be very interesting going forward Tuba.

Was it a relative?

yes! Gus Searcy. What a weirdo. Thanks.

Nurmi received the 'pedo letters' in an anonymous e-mail, I *think* (no cite to back it up) that it was alledged that Matt McCartney was the sender of that e-mail, when MM was deposed JM warned him that if he tried to testify that he would be charged with perjury before his feet hit the floor. JSS disallowed the e-mailed pedo letters as they were only in electronic format, no hard copies, and no way to verfiy the writer, that they looked cut and pasted/forged was mentioned but I did not see that in any official form for their disallowance as evidence in the trial.
