Is anyone else having a problem with the sound at the giraffe press conference?

Yes--- it did not work for anyone. from FB page, it should be up on YouTube sometime soon. I found this update:
The post mortem exam showed that the giraffe calf had enlarged lymph nodes and signs of viral infection or premature separation of placenta.

The calf was alive yesterday, but never held air in his lungs, a vet said today at a news conference. Stillborns happen about 5 to 10 percent of the time in giraffes, the zoo's vet said.

Based on her motion, it sounds like it's not a matter of her needing to interview the expert, but of the expert needing to evaluate her. If this is any kind of mental health evaluation, it will require a face-to-face meeting. I think it's the expert's schedule, not hers, that is causing the delay, together with the jail's apparent reluctance to follow whatever procedure was devised to keep the expert's identity under wraps.

Spot on; comports precisely with her handwritten motion.

Hi Nore, I teared up several times today, what a weenie I am, & I am a nurse! What a blue day for me. Hopefully some reason will be discussed at the news conference. On a local SC news site blog I have checked intermittently all day, some are making bad comments about the zoo staff & not paying enough attention to Autumn. Geez, I hope that isn't the case. I did watch that cam ALOT & never saw a lot of belly movement. Guess you can't do an ultrasound so easily on 1500 lb giraffe. How sad is this! Poor Autumn, imagine her hormones now.

How on earth could JSS have granted another delay? Jodi was convicted 1 yr & 3 months ago! She had plenty of time to get her witnesses together. Ridiculous! This judge is awful. The killer has control of the courtroom now. How frustrating. You are right, KCL, the criminals officially have more rights than the victim. I am appalled. Sure, let's shift everyone's calendar to suite the psychpath who is Jodi Arias. So disappointed in this judge. I would think Bill Montgomery, head of the county DA office, would have monitored Judge Stevens & told her to wrap this up. A delay effects everyone's livelihoods except for the killer. This is a travesty of justice. We will see if this trial is indeed wrapped up in 2014. I have my doubts.

If I have learned anything from life, it is that control is an illusion. JA's suffering from that now.

Since this is a DP case she's bending over backwards to cover any appeals issues. That's just what I think is going on.

So until the criminal decides it's time for the trial to start is she no longer spending 23 hours a day in her cell? She can pretty much go where she wants?

This will probably be the last I post on Autumn, unless I find a link to the news conf. . I think this came from the info at the news conf., tho:

Dr. Heather Mills, the zoo’s department of health director, said that Autumn was found to be in labor just after 3 a.m., and the calf was delivered at about 3:25 a.m. She said the calf was malpositioned -- not technically a breech position, but it was delivered hind feet first, which is not the normal delivery position for a giraffe.

She said when the staff realized the calf was abnormally positioned for birth, they turned the webcam away because they were concerned about its welfare.

Miller said veterinarians rarely intervene in giraffe births because in many cases it would cost the life of the mother and the calf. She said calves born in this position often survive and thrive, and the labor was fast enough that Autumn was not in danger, so intervention was not really considered. Miller said she was aware of only one successful Caesarean delivery of a giraffe that she was aware of.

Miller said the calf never took a breath, and the necropsy confirmed that no air had ever entered his lungs. She said it is not known what stage of the birth the calf was in when he died, and it may never be known. She said that he had no heartbeat, and medical attempts to restart his heart never worked.

Miller said the calf was the normal size at birth, and the staff had noted normal pre-birth activity on Tuesday.

She said the cause of death is not yet clear. Miller said he had a few enlarged lymph nodes and some abnormalities in the placenta, but testing of cultures and samples will be tested to see if there was any infection present.

Let me just say this, from experience, about death penalty sentences. EVERYONE on the side of the defendant--lawyers, witnesses and in our case the JUDGE--conspires with them to delay and help them avoid the ultimate penalty. They consider more time, just less likelihood they will ever be executed (and they're right). So this witness not being "available" and someone SHE wants to call, falls under that veil of suspicion for me to. And she's just getting warmed up. 25 years later, still on death row, delaying and supported by the entire system to avoid his sentence. That's what living with the Death Penalty in the state of AZ is like. And that doesn't even go in to the ways the killers (and in our case, mostly their supporters) torture the family of the victim, who in years to come, will not even be mentioned in hearing after hearing. This is just the beginning folks. Sorry to be a wet blanket but this is something I'm intimately acquainted with.

Daisy, are you ok? Has anyone heard from Daisy?

Kudos to KCL for saying how we feel.

i want to ask everyone to forgive me however for spouting off earlier. I said I didn't care about JA's family or friends or defenders or the judge, etc. I was very angry that the trial was delayed. And AZlawyer, if I hurt your feelings by spouting off at the judicial system I apologize for that too. I haven't been through a trial, good or bad personally and hope I never am. But I see trials like CA and JA and OJ and I cringe because it seems people are getting away with murder in the name of being fair to the defendant. I will try my best to hold my temper and tongue. I really want to stay positive and not get wrapped up in all that is Jodi Arias. So if offended anyone here, I really am sorry and ask your forgiveness.

That said, I have read about KCL's sister's case and the travesty there and KCL is one of our own here at WS. So I am now leaning toward wishing the Alexander family would ask that JA be given LWOP, if it is a sure guarantee that she gets no appeals. That is the rub for me. I have said before there should be a third option. Just lock them up in solitary and throw away the key and I mean for those who truly are guilty. If there is a doubt, let the attorneys use DNA to get them out. But we are talking about Jodi on this thread so what will the judge accomplish with all these delays? If you argue that she is trying to ensure there are no appeals I call that bull. It is all about being " fair" to the defendant. This is no longer a defendant. This is a convicted murderer.

I hope they just send her on to LWOP and we can all move on.
