I have heard of it but never knew really what it was. I just searched about it now and it sounds great. Sounds like I would just have to register and it looks free other than that from what I can tell.

My problem mainly is my old-school stereo system is in my living room and I have a real good sound system there that I can only play music from either my Satellite TV, DVD, CD, or Cassette (yeah...i know....LOL).

The good thing is I have satellite with all the music stations so I usually just have some classic chanells or other music channels going.

I can hook my laptop to my TV with HDMI port and I may try this Pandora thing to see if I can get the sound to come through my stereo system that way.

Whenever I want to listen to music for a long time, I always like to try to listen to it on my good sound system. My speakers are about the size of a washer+dryer machine, and I have 4 of them in there. LOL

Dinasours....like me....LOL

I still have my Fisher Studio speakers I got in 1981, before they started making them in Japan. They weigh 95 lbs each.:scared: There's something about a stereo system with speakers that can pass as furniture, LOL! All my original Technic's components died a long time ago, the gal that watched my kids while I was up on the rez blew out the receiver playing country music (like, seriously?!?!?! You played country music on my stereo?!?!?! No wonder it died, you killed it!!!!!!) Eventually everything got replaced with Kenwood components. I really wanted to get Bang & Olufsen, they were producing their components with gold contacts which were supposed to conduct better, but with kids, critters, dust, too much of an investment........

I'll tell ya, there's nothing like listening to your kid and his friends play "Final Fantasy" the video game in surround sound, I'm just glad he wasn't into the "Call of Duty" kind of games. Even with the volume at 3, it shook the windows.
My son wants my sound system when I die, lol!

National Guard Called Out in Baltimore as Police and Youths Clash After Funeral for Freddie Gray

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/28/us/a-call-for-peace-before-freddie-grays-funeral-in-baltimore.html?emc=edit_na_20150427&nlid=58395070&_r=0

It's just so sad and tragic, that in 2015, there are still people who see other human beings by the color of their skin and judge them as less than a person. Maybe I was just lucky to be raised in a place where people where judged as a human being first, above all else.

Not criticizing or laying blame on anyone's feet, but for every person who wants to pursue peaceful change, there's another that thinks violence is the answer.

I just wish "change" didn't come with the likes of Jackson or Sharpton, I don't put much faith in their "humanness". JMHO.

I've had Pandora for years, I really like it. I didn't get the upgraded version, just the regular "sign up, it's free" so it DOES have a limit for how many hours, but I've only gone over it once.

When you're listening, just go to the screen when you "like"(thumbs up) or "don't like"(thumbs down) a particular tune and it'll start streamlining your music to what you like. You can also have several different "channels", just put an artist name on it and build your collection. The thumbs can be found towards the top in the center, or run your mouse across the album cover and they'll pop up.
My "Channels" are "Chad Kroeger", "Bruno Mars", "Puddle of Mud", "Steve Perry", Cat Stevens", "Santana" and "Aerosmith".

What about led? Did nickelback break up?

Hey all!

re bold - kind of scary! :scared: I too noticed that!

My Huz' speakers are about 1/2 that size, Hatfield! Yes, things back than last a LOT longer from what they make today! That's why we still "old" stuff! LOL!

Hi fellow Dinasour! :seeya:

signing off for the day... :pcguru:

My microwave is at least 30 years old

The damn fools in Baltimore are destroying their own city!
Is it OK for me to say that?

I hear you. I'm freaking out about it on a personal level. As a life-long Marylander, I am appalled at what's happening.

Please keep my family and friends in Baltimore in your hearts as they seek peace and safety in light of the violent outbursts following Freddie Gray's funeral.

We are tremendously dismayed that a handful of th*gs have chosen to use Freddie Gray's unfortunate death as an opportunity to impugn the character of this great city, and effectively hold its mostly law-abiding citizens hostage.

While I want to know all the facts regarding Freddie Gray's death; at this point, I don't see any evidence that police acted in such a way that race played any factor in his injuries and death. It certainly seems that police were negligent, but that is a far different thing than targeting someone simply because they're black (as per the accusations in Ferguson, MO).

For anyone who has never been to Baltimore, let me just say that there's a reason they call it "Charm City." It's an amazing place; full of great food, friendly people, and beautiful sights to see. It's also home to some of the best academic institutions in the country. What you're seeing on the news today is not representative of the Baltimore that I know and love. Trust me, Baltimore is awesome!

What about led? Did nickelback break up?

Don't follow them, just put Kroeger in there because he's done a lot of collaborations with other artists. Did a quick search and nothing about them breaking up......

Are you talking Led Zep? LOL! If I listen to them I crank up the sound system! Just like Hendrix, some music just shouldn't be listened to with head phones! :floorlaugh: (which is how I listen to things on my computer!)

Yup. LOL

Great choices of manufacturers.

The bigger the better back then, And I still like the heaviness and deep sound my large speakers give me. Like you said, I love to rattle the walls every now and then. LOL

An old friend of mine used to work at an electronics store, and they had these extremely large blown speakers that they were tossing out, and I was able to snag them from him to get the cabinets and what I did was take out the 15inch Woofers, the 8-inch Midranges, and metal horn tweeters out, and replaced all the guts in all of them. So, for just the cost of the guts, I was able to put together a really nice set of speakers. I soldered all the connections inside and used "crossovers" to separate the highs from the lows and they came out really great sounding.

They just dont make them like they used to, and so I have hauled these around my whole life. LOL

And you are right that they are basically furniture pieces...LOL I have Lamps on top of 2 of them so they double as large end tables, and the other 2 are nick-nack holders. LOL

The speakers will outlive me for sure. LOL

They are now burning down Baltimore --put slashes in firemen hose so they couldn't fight fires. Oh wow

I read people were bussed in to create chaos, and a credible threat came from 2 gangs. The people of Baltimore are the ones who will ultimately be affected by this.........and the interlopers just move on the the next "big story" or "non-story" to make it a "big story".

Stay safe, peeps in Baltimore!!!! GigiG, I hope your friends and family do to!

We still have and use ours like we did from the seventies. Our speakers are the size of a suitcase and still sound great. We still have two turntables and a large (over a hundred and fifty last count) collection of vinyl LP. I did get rid of all the eight track after my player broke and we have everything on cassettes and cd's. I wasn't into all the woofers and things (dh was the tech guy, I liked to listen to music) I just knew what sounded good. Then again it may of been the brownies.

GiGi, I sure hope your family/friends will be all right. This is so reminiscent of the riots here in Detroit in the late 1967, that even affected my high school graduation (a suburb area). I never thought I would see this repeated. :stormingmad:

Going to try to start back to Jazzercize tomorrow night. Just bought a larger Leotard. Hoping it's 80's music!!

Well, hubby didn't question me about the cost of my new workout clothes, I did a fashion show, and he thought I looked pretty hot! I discovered that black looks really good on me, and it's slimming!

Same here. I've got the free version, so there are also occasional ads between songs. I didn't know there was a limit on hours. I like it once I've trained it to my stations. My stations: Wierd Al Yankovic, 80's Dance Party, 60's, 70's & 80s Hits, WorldBeat, Brazilian, House of the Rising Sun, Love Songs, 70's Lite Rock, Klezmer, Film Scores, Disco, Patty Smythe, Salsa, The Jam, Adam Lambert, Journey. I add similar artists to my stations, like I'll add Joan Jett & other girl bands to my Patty Smythe station.

Stay safe for any WS or family in Baltimore area. It is so sad.

I think a lot of the trouble makers that did most of the damage are just using the protests as an excuse to loot businesses. Which is really sad because the local folks that own and use those businesses will end up not having their businesses back for awhile. If ever in some cases.

Such a terrible tragegy. We saw it happen in Fergusen and now Baltimore which is a huge city. I am so saddened.
I just wish the National Guard would have been able to stop it before it got this bad.

Ive been to Camden Yards to see the Orioles and I have shopped in the Inner Harbor area (I think it was called) and I really enjoyed my time there. It is a unqiue and beautiful city. I am so saddened and feel so sorry for the people that live there. They did not need this to happen to their businesses.

Stay safe everyone

Hi Zoey and Niner. I have a set of Ekco Ware pots and pans I bought in 1953. first type of "waterless cookware" out. I still use it! Bought it through Speigels home sales. :seeya:
