"Christmas Eve at the Sidebar"
=====================================

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the Forums,
Not a creature was posting, not even out of Boredom;

Wine glass was placed, by the keyboard with Care,
in hopes that not a drop, would make it in There;

Posters were nestled all snug in their Beds,
while visions of murders, tormented their Heads;

Since Momma was asleep, I poured another Glass,
Even thought about digging out the Stash;

When out on the lawn there arose such a Clatter,
Had to get off my butt, to see what's the Matter;

Rushing to the Window, I flew like a Flash,
Spilled the wine on the Keyboard, with a large Splash;

When what to my wondering eyes should Appear,
It was just my neighbor Nick, dropping a Beer;

So back to the puter, quietly not to Stir,
Lo and Behold, there they all Were!

It was GiGi, Niner, Zuri and Zoe,
Spellbound, Coffeej, FindHG, and YES and NO;

Bendingpages was there, along with Atthelake, Dmacky, and BYO,
Even Caylees Advocate, Nore, Daisymae, Susza, and Bernina Too;

The topics began flying, with discussions Abound,
What a wonderful night, we had Found;

When finally we tired, and had to get off our rear Ends,
We all could sleep well, knowing we're Friends.

:ohwow: :clap: :toastred:

Hey Niner, have you gone to bed with the chicken yet?

Also, that was me with the orange peels - putting them in my tobacco bags to keep the tobacco fresh! :D

Niner- better stay off the roads:

Google Pairs With Ford To Build Self-Driving Cars

"Google and Ford will create a joint venture to build self-driving vehicles with Google’s technology, a huge step by both companies toward a new business of automated ride sharing, Yahoo Autos has learned.

According to three sources familiar with the plans, the partnership is set to be announced by Ford at the Consumer Electronics Show in January. By pairing with Google, Ford gets a massive boost in self-driving software development; while the automaker has been experimenting with its own systems for years, it only revealed plans this month to begin testing on public streets in California. Google has 53 test vehicles on the road in California and Texas, with 1.3 million miles logged in autonomous driving...."

I believe they are doing their testing mostly in the Bay Area... I'm up here in the "rural" area - I don't think they'll be coming up here! So I'm safe! :D

So, WHY is the bus traveling to the Left?? :thinking: It didn't give the answer...

That was a cliff-hanger. No where to click to find out why.

I think it's because buses have doors, which are always are on the right side. In the drawing you only see windows, no door.

A long time ago orange peels, a slice of apple or a lettuce leaf was used to help stop somethings from turning to powder.

I would tease my mother that she went to bed with the chickens. Meaning when they went in to roost for the night at sundown. There was to of been an 'S meaning many, not that Hez is one.

When we first moved to Texas we lived on a small farm, and inherited chickens when the former owner move away and left them, and here was this one crippled chicken that the cat would walk with it to the hen house for the night. My father joked that he was walking his dinner home each night waiting for it to go to chicken heaven.

It was a neat place. It had an old barn that we played in. We built Indian villages out of hay in the loft. We ran all over the pasture. A mama cat had kittens and I picked a furry little calico to be my first cat, and when it was older it wandered into the pasture with the horses and was stepped on.

We'd climb this big old tree one day and my mother helped us to get down, and we climbed up again later that day she told us you got up there you can get down. It had a porch swing ( I guess that started my love of porch swings), and we'd swing after dinner as the sun went down and lightening bugs came out. At night you could hear (and see) bobcats, and this was in 1959 and in town. I look back and think of my parents having fours kids ages ten to seven , and they were just twenty nine years old.

Pages, I think you have been hitting the spiked eggnog a bit much lol. Heck NO!! I can't ride like that, nor could I ever ride like that. My daughter has ridden bareback with just lead ropes attached to the halter. Not me. I needed a seatbelt and all the help I could get. That girl has amazing balance and thigh muscles to stay on like that. Thanks for sharing the video!

hahaha! But it IS a funny mental image, at least to me! Maybe Pages meant when you were younger? Hard to imagine women of "our age" riding bareback, esp. over jumps.

I know a woman (whom I find to be a bit odd) who rides side-saddle (which I also find odd). She's won many competitions. I guess I just don't get the point...

I see some of our dear friends are having some a bad storms. My prayers will be with each of you and the other forty five millions in this storms path,

Doing the xmas light tour in Florida !

With five children with deer eyes !!!

As per usual, I bought a boatload of firewood. What's Christmas with a fire raging in the fireplace? But this year it looks like Christmas day temps will be close to 70!!!!

I love the warm weather (and lower utility bills), but it is a bit weird.

Plus, I normally put bottles of champagne and beer out on the back porch, to save room in the fridge for "real" food. Guess I can't do that this year.

Okay, so I need to make some minor adjustments due to the unseasonably warm weather, but I'LL TAKE IT!!!!

Here's hoping that El Nino continues to bless us with warm temps into Jan and Feb!!!

What an idyllic childhood you must have had. And, I have to say, your memory is amazing!

Are there still bobcats around? And OMG, I can't believe how young your parents were to have already had FOUR kids!

That was our first year here in Texas. It changed greatly after that, and not for for the better. I look back, before we moved to Texas, and see that my parents always had grandma Cora and Uncle Lee to to leave us with, and my dad's father and step mother and they weren't in Texas to help.
There was talk of my oldest sister living with Grandma Cora, my next sister would go to her brother and wife, my brother to go to my grandfather on my father's side of the family. I never been sure would take me in. I think it was my uncle Benny, my mother's only brother. They were always very nice to me, and when I saw them twenty years later it was like there was a bond.

Yes, four between 1949, 1950, 1951 with my sister the same age for sixteen days, and three days after I turned a year old, my brother was born in 1952. Thanks to modern technology I know what they did each March for three years, and December for my oldest sister.

Sometimes having a good memory is not a blessing.

Sorry. Climbing in trees, etc. sounded so wonderful. Of course, I know you have a complicated background, but I guess I didn't realize the extent to which you suffered what can best be described as "neglect."

But I'm glad you have such great recall and that you do have many happy memories in spite of everything. :)

Plus, you turned things around enough to be a good wife, mom and grand mom. That's something to be proud of.

I wish you all and all those you love a peaceful & happy Christmas time.
I feel so grateful to have "met" you. Sharing is the best way to become rich.
My special wishes of well being to all those who are ill or going through difficult times.

I'm now at my parents home; the tulips in my mom's garden are on their way to flourish... I'm afraid my cross country ski will stay in the car :( but I'm also happy because these mild temperatures make life so much more comfortable for my old parents.
Now I'll decorate the Christmas tree together with my dad and I'm afraid ;) my mom will continue to bake; there's always a recipe of cookies left that she has to try out.She is wonderful.
Ok, see you later, dear friends. ENJOY!!!!!

Good Morning! Whew...did we have some bad storms roll in one after another all afternoon...we had hail, straight line winds, wicked lighting. Attaching a picture that was taken about 5 miles from us. Dmacky did you get the storms?

Merry Christmas to all who will be celebrating the holiday, and a wonderful day to everyone no matter how you choose to spend it. We are off to mom-in-laws today, and will have a quiet Christmas tomorrow with so coming for mid-day meal.

Love my Sidebar peeps to the max! Susza, sounds like a lovely time you are having!!

Crazy weather in Georgia---still trying to get alarms just in cast. Some tornado warnings (not my area) but rain (still amazes me how it rains here and I live in Seattle) and major thunderstorm with lighting. I did give my sister's dog a small piece of benadryl for her nerves
