SM as a potential focus of the investigation

Hi all,
I'm new around here, so bare with me. The thorn in my side from the beginning had to do the non-response of the school to Kyron's failure to show up in class. How could the teacher be so nonchalant about a child not showing up for class? The only answer that makes sense, apart from gross incompetence and neglect, is that the teachers saw or strongly assumed that he had left with a parent. Well, as a Portlander I know this school and its reputation, so neglect is hard to believe. So he very likely had to leave with a parent.

It would not be strange at all for a parent to bring a child to school for part of the day - in this case, the science fair - only to leave with him for a doctor's appointment. I've done it myself with my own son. As for not signing him out, even if we asume this was the practice at this school, it's not clear that it would have been necessary in this case. As best I understand, the official school day had not started. He arrived in the care of his mother, and it now seems based on what LE is telling us, he was last seen before the official school day started. From a teacher's perspective, he never left the care of his parent.

The chances that this parent accidently hurt this child, or suddenly lost it, on the same day that the science fair provided just enough confusion to help obfuscate the crime is just too hard for me to accept. For the same reason, I long ago rejected the notion that this could be a crime of opportunity by stranger. Too many things worked against Kyron and LE in this case to conclude that this was a random event that could just as easily have happened on any other school day.

Ok, the trafficing of children keeps getting brought up. In Portland as in many cities, it's a problem with teenage prostitutes and sometimes male protitutes. Teenagers not children. This has nothing to do with Kyron. Has legit child trafficing ever had to do with any of these cases?

Also, other than crimes to do with the WWF crowd, has any of these similar cases ever had to do with steroids? It always gets brought up in every thread and never has anything to do with anything.

Sorry, but it's always brought up and is distracting.

Thank you, SuziQ. I love Portland, have lived hear a long time. On another thread, someone referred to it as Pornland - which hurts. The city may have some underage rings, but there is also have a massive problem with "street kids" (teens) and runaways, and I think that is what the reports - if there are that lead to Portland #1- refer to when addressing "trafficking." I have no doubt it's a problem, and could have it's own forum, but it is not at all related here in Kyron's case - and is a distraction.

I'm not suspicious of steroids in this case but I can see how some ppl might be, shes into body building...steriod use is not uncommon in body building, and steroids can make you "rage' which would explain her freaking out on Kyron. Steriods=rage=harm to Kyron. See?

Freaking out when? If she's responsible for Kyron missing then it was an elaborate plan.

That could be why?

No, really I just am trying to find a way that this, if it happened with Terri, was not pre-planned. That, I don't think I can wrap my head around at all. Maybe she was going somewhere that sounded like more fun to Kyron once he was done showing off his project and maybe he did not want to be in the talent show. Maybe it was rare for her to be going anywhere without the baby and he wanted to be alone with her. I don't know...as I said, I was trying to figure out a way that he went with her and THEN something happened...

Maybe he really did have an appointment that day. I keep doing the same thing: trying to figure out a way this wasn't premeditated.

The more I look at Terri's life, though, the more I'm thinking maybe she's one of those people who get what they want, no matter what the method. Maybe not, but I think quite a few of the situations she's found herself in point that way.

From this article:
http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/06/19/oregon.missing.boy/index.html?hpt=T2

LE said.. according to CNN...
"We are not in a position to name anybody a person of interest."
and they said:
sheriff spokeswoman Lt. Mary Lindstrand said the focus of the investigation is not on Terri Horman.

This folks is word games at its best.
The fact that they are not in a position to name anybody tells me they do not want anyone to lawyer up. To become unavailable to them, so they are NOT IN A POSITION to do that YET, name Terri that is.
and my favorite, the FOCUS is not on Terri, well of course its not the focus is Kyron. If she was not a POI than they would say Terri is not a POI or suspect, their use of the word focus is nothing but word games.
Now IF she is arrested if its said "you said Terri was not a suspect" they will say "we never said that we said she was not the focus, and she was not Kyron has been our focus and that has not changed."

You have to LOVE LE and thier spokesman word games.

I think **IF** Terri did this, the only mistake she made was NOT to go to that talent show in the afternoon....that would have made her look more innocent than not ..like if she showed up at the concert to watch Kyron (becaseu she knows he's at school) and then say "Where is Kyron"

Then I think, well maybe she was still busy at 1:00...but, I thought that is when she was posting pics on FB? So.. she was at home.

Therefore, I think this was one major slip-up on her part **IF** she did it.

I have to admit.. I watch Missing, CSI & shows like that.. and it didn't enter my mind that LE could trace cell phone pings. I thought they could only ping IF I talked on the phone.... I guess I was wrong about that!!

I'm babbling .. LOL.. trying to make sense of my own thoughts..LOL.. Sorry!
I think she made a lot of mistakes. The cell phone would be the first. Even I know to leave my cell phone home *if* I commit a crime. That is murder 101.
Or at least take the battery out. Someone that watches CSI should have known this, which is the only reason I think it may not have been planned. She may really have had an appointment and something happened after she left the science fair and she lost it and decided to blame the school. She may have been counting on the busyness of the day to know that no one saw them leave. She also should have gone to places where there was video evidence of her being there for her alibi but that wouldn't have helped if she had a block of time unaccounted for. She could have left the cell phone home and say she was there after she left the school. Then she would have to worry if neighbors saw her car at home. Hopefully there is no fool proof way to murder someone. But there are a lot of unsolved crimes so people are getting away with it.

How so? I don't see it. I could be possible. But most cases it's merely a caregiver wigging out on their kid in an act of abuse that goes too far. Not to be confused with an accidental death. Most states recognize death of a child during the act of abuse is murder one.

Awesome breakdown, and this really could be what is going on.

I never thought of that...she just don't look like a body builder to me.

What was funny about the pornland comment was that I grew up in San Fernando Valley aka *advertiser censored* Valley. Google it. I lived on the coast of Oregon and have many ties to Portland. Portland issues just like any other big city. I like Portland.

Hi Cash, I would like to believe what you say. What stops me is the possibility the teacher was in fact manipulated to think Kyron was busy and OK when he really wasn't. The paperwork on an appt, confusion of a Fri and which date and a call across the gym that it was really set for Monday. Doesn't add up to me. Hmmmmmmmm . . . . . .

Where is the information coming from that Terri used steroids?

Crack me up DairyGirl, and then some. LOLOL Fortunately most criminals are as dumb as a box of rocks even if they are very intelligent. And . . . :croc: YES

That will happen in this case too. I believe LE knows enough to say the case will not go cold.

The call across the gym is nothing but a rumor, left by an anonymous commenter on an article. Not verified by print. The only thing mentioned about an appointment was the paperwork, from the Oregonian article.
