Agreed!!!

Michael Jackson's Dr is a good example. If I remember correctly, Dr. Conrad was MJ's Dr's name. I realize we're not comparing apples to apples here....just saying.

I've seen Scott Weiland in concert many times, with STP, Velvet Revolver and solo w/The Wildabouts. The second to last time I saw him solo, he was a mess - falling all over the stage, incoherent. I was so pissed at his handlers, saying why are they enabling him like this! Then it dawned on me - they were getting paid to enable him. It was their job.

The last time I saw him was 4 days before his death. He seemed sober, or at least less f'd up. Sober-ish I guess you could say.

I'm heartbroken over these guys.

I'm just so sad... I feel like CC's drug use will be confirmed by tox report and I can't shake my feelings of disappointment and grief.

I work in entertainment and am all too familiar with the struggles of an artistic spirit. I am reminded to stay grateful for Chris' contributions to my life, he made my own mysterious emotions into something tangible and manageable at just the right times.

Thank you to Chris and to his family for sharing him.

Oh yes, how can we forget about Velvet Revolver....Scott joining forces with Slash and Duf . Holy *hit! At the time, I couldn't have come up with a bigger hot mess. Looking back that has to be one big blur for those guys. They were so messed up on drugs during the revolver days! Don't get me wrong, I love their music and that entire era of music, but that had to have been a hell of a ride.

Admittedly, I was more of an STP fan, but I still liked Soundgarden as well. Weiland was a great front man, but oddly his death wasn't that shocking to me, even as someone who loved his 90s work.

I think to an extent we knew he was on borrowed time, whereas CC was more shocking to me as he seemed like he actually cleaned up and got himself together.

Thank You bornofposeidon for both your above posts. Any chance you remember where you saw that pic of his Mom at the memorial? His brother Peter's touching post and the picture of when they were young brought tears to my eyes.

Ah-ha, I think you get what's been bothering me about the shifting facts and conflicting stories of Mother's Day, and what seems to me the attempts to control what the public hears and believes.

Yes, weirdness. :shakehead:

I've seen the picture quite a few times around the web but it was on another message board that someone stated that CC's mom, 2 sister's and a brother (not Peter) are sitting beside and behind SS in the picture. So, take that with a grain of salt. SS is apparently the woman in glasses, though her hair looks slightly different in a picture taken of her later that day.

Old school Soundgarden fans should appreciate this pic, it was taken after the funeral and posted by Stuart Hallerman with the title "We're all living on "silver linings" today, but they are abundant." (See, SS's hair seems darker in this pic and not as layered as the first pic). Either way, in another universe Chris is still alive and is the one taking the photo. :sigh:

So sad for all of Chris Cornell's family & friends. Another loss to the music world of a fine musician. R.I.P Chris <3

I'm listening to Badmotorfinger right now. It's SO good.

I still feel like someone punched me in the gut.

Article should say at that time the autopsy wasn't completed because at this time the body has already been cremated. We'll see what the toxicology reports say. Nothing can take away the pain of losing him, but there's still that need to know the truth and understand if he actually meant to do it.

The family says it's "mystified" the Medical Examiner announced to the world Chris' death was a suicide when the full autopsy hasn't been completed.

Just so you know, lately I can't reply to a full quote here. The edit function of WS has been flukey for me.

I, as a Soundgarden fan, have been following the untimely demise of Chris Cornell, singer, songwriter, performer, frontman extraordinaire since the heartbreaking day of May 18. I found a website that seems to have the most comprehensive, sensible discussion and as it has turned into a Websleuths-style discussion, I thought to check here! If any of you ladies and gentleman are interested, the site is Lipstick Alley, the thread topic is Chris Cornell Blind Item - Might Explain His Death. I'm still just lurking there and am anxiously awaiting the toxicology report to complete the autopsy report. The case is still an active investigation by the Detroit Police Dept. Homicide Division.

I too am curious about the tox report, at least to get some idea of why this happened, or at at least as much as possible.

I feel like it's been a frequent comparison but regardless when Kurt Cobain died in 1994, we did certainly see some unhealthy red flags, but ultimately whatever the true reason was, Kurt took it to the grave with him. Sure, it could have been a combination of things that created a perfect storm of sorts...or a singular reason - his struggle with drugs, maybe he wasn't truly happy with his marriage, maybe health reasons, maybe he felt he couldn't live up to the expectations people had of him.

With that said, I'd like to know more with CC, but I'm not holding my breath for any real answers.

I definitely don't think it was solely due to taking an extra Ativan. Behind Xanax it's the second most prescribed benzo in the US, even beating the arguably more well known and sought after Klonopin.

Working in the health field you see a lot of varying doses for this but most docs aren't doing to do some ridiculous dose like 2 mg x4 daily for a recovering drug addict. If I recall the doctor was also his friend so either way I doubt he'd be on some crazy high dose, if anything for the doc to cover his own butt.

Here's the tox:

According to the report, obtained by TMZ, the singer had Naloxone (Narcan), Butalbital (sedative), Lorazepam (Ativan), Pseudoephedrine (decongestant) and barbiturates in his system at the time of death. It appears Chris had taken 4 (1 mg) Lorazepam tablets.

Definitely leaves you with more questions than answers. The 'track marks' were left after the EMT administered Narcan which is used to reverse the effects of an OD. Why give Narcan to a guy who has hung himself?

Welcome thornfae, first post I see after being a member for almost 6 years!

Perhaps narcan was given before they knew what he had taken. Someone could have told EMTs that there was a history of opiate use. Not sure if that's typical.

Such a shame.

Maybe the bodyguard told the EMT he had been taking the pills. It sounds like it was pretty obvious he was under the influence of something that night. Maybe it was just a last ditch effort, even though he had hung himself.

Thank you for the welcome, Margarita25 and those who thanked the post! I joined to follow the Rebecca Zahau case, as I live in San Diego and spent my teen years in Coronado, and know that area very well.

Re Chris Cornell: I've read the actual toxicology report and autopsy report and can only conclude that Chris knowingly and willingly committed suicide. No one will ever know the definitive reason of why, why then, and why he felt he could not give another day a chance. I am heartbroken that he died. He had been tormented for most of his life with depression and drug abuse. It looks like he stayed on the wagon and didn't die as a relapsed drug user or junkie. He gave his heart and soul to his music and gave us great gifts for entertainment, inspiration and spiritual nourishment.

I cannot say much about his personal life as I didn't follow it.

My prayer to God for Chris Cornell:

Dear God,
Please take Chris' soul into Your arms and grace, into Your heavenly kingdom. Please give comfort and peace to those who truly loved him regardless of their personal connection to him.

Peace be to all.
