Disagree. The coroner only has to examine the facts he/she is presented with. IMO cannot call witnesses.
They can and do.

If a witness lives in England and Wales and has evidence that the Coroner regards as relevant and important to help in establishing the facts of the death, he/she can be required to attend Court. A witness will usually be asked to attend the inquest voluntarily, but if they do not agree and their evidence is crucial, the Coroner may issue a witness summons to compel their attendance. If the witness then does not attend he/she may be arrested, brought before the Coroner and charged with contempt of Court. This is an offence that is punishable with a fine or a term of imprisonment. If a witness lives abroad they can be invited, but cannot be compelled to attend or to give evidence.

Thoughts on the secrecy behind the police not giving information on the watch - JMO

We already know the Spanish police work strictly on not giving out any information pertaining to a case whilst it is still ongoing. I'd imagine stating whether the watch was or wasn't found with Jay would come under this secrecy. Although Jay's body has been found IMO this is still a live investigation. Perhaps they may close it once Jay's body leaves for the UK unless they wish to further look into the circumstances of how and why Jay came to being in the mountains in the first place.

I followed the MM case closely and the Portuguese police worked under similar strict privacy rules. However once the Portuguese closed the case every single piece of information that had been looked at was publically released. Does anyone know if this is the case in Spain? Do they release all case details once a case is closed? I read somewhere yesterday they do but I've no idea whether its true or not.

All MOO.

Silence from the police in Spain is basically always the standard -- in almost every case I've seen, they say nothing. Let alone preoccupy themselves with online theories or dispelling rumours etc. I can understand the frustration -- absolutely. But Q+As / press updates etc, in Spain it's simply a rarity. I have a family member in the Guardia Civil and he has remarked before on that culture of closed lips versus the openness you see in many American cases etc.
Correct. We often assume that LE from other countries is less effective than in other countries. That's simply untrue: they just operate in a different way.
Known facts:
JS went to Tenerife.
JS went missing in Tenerife.
A body has been found which is presumed to be that of JS
The coroner will announce the results of their initial autopsy.
Upon repatriation, UK coroners will carry out their own investigation.
That's honestly all that we know.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “People are allowed to voice their opinions on social media as they are allowed to voice them in person, simply because you don't agree with their opinion (particularly where it is about you personally) does not mean this is a crime or that the police can take action.

“If a person sends threatening/abusive/grossly offensive messages to another person via Facebook, Twitter, or any other social networking site, they could be committing an offence. The most relevant offences are 'harassment' and 'malicious communications'.

“For harassment to be committed, there must be a 'course of conduct' (i.e. two or more related occurrences). The messages do not necessarily have to be violent in nature, but would need to have caused some alarm or distress.

That certainly clears a couple of points up e.g they all knew one another back in the UK ,but where did MWT get the idea from tha JS was afraid?

Well we really only have Ayub's word for that, that they knew each other from Lancashire. I'm not sure I would put too much faith in anything Ayub says but thats just my opinion.

MWT said Jay told Lucy in their phonecall that he was afraid. I often wondered whether MWT was reaching here - was Jay afraid of the B&B guys or was it just that he was lost in the mountains with no water or phone battery and was now afraid?

All JMOO

Is anyone any the wiser after that 'Q&A' opportunity? What a load of deliberately obtuse responses. I have zero idea really whether they were involved in any way - but this did nothing to persuade me finally that they weren't.
Smoke and mirrors.
I think ayub is referring to jay being on drugs and paranoid. When he is speaking in" street slang " person asks "why did jay set off without a lift etc ayub states "use your head bro " what he is saying is ".the young chap jay had consumed a filling of drink and drugs for 3 days straight and obviously had gotten paranoid ( gone off on a mad one ) and set off on a bad comedown imo and stating they didn't invite jay to get in the car he invited himself into it .what happened to ayub's intitial media interview where he says Jay's friends left him ,he had no where to go ,so I brought him to mine ,gave him a towel ,blanket and cigarette.
More fuel for the fire

As regards the questions put to these guys about the watch and knives and about Allegedly hitting jay . I don't understand why they alluded to having no knowledge of these .Surely MTW put these questions to them .

I honestly don't think these guys killed jay .I felt ayub's past being reported was wrong ,as nothing criminal had been suspected by Guardia civilla . Why this Q&A live now though and 2nd guy Rocky had enjoyed his anonymity until he exposed it .It just threw more ammunition at the conspiracists.

And why did the media state at the beginning that Lucy drove around with American woman and located the men through a Snapchat pic . When all along they All knew one another from Lancashire. Absolute madness the whole reporting regarding this case.

I feel like Alice in wonderland I've gone down rabbit hole come out the other side ,now I've gone through the looking glass I'm sitting with the mad hatter .everything is as mad as a box of frogs . And I'm talking to the Cheshire cat and nothing is as it seems .Like what the actual ????

I think jay being afraid was blown out of proportion and he was afraid of the terrain he found himself in .

I wonder was Jay's phone found with him .I find it amazing that this hasn't been reported by the media . The family through their representatives work with the media regarding information for other news articles, why not this ?

That's what I mean by 'smoke and mirrors' - not a straight answer to any of the questions. As for the reporting - I agree to an extent but I do believe that certain people spoke out very early on and their stories may have got lost or slightly rearranged over time - because perhaps they were slightly, just slightly, confused or distorted at the outset, for reasons best known to themselves. We know Jay and LUcy hadn't been whiter than white in the past (no criticism - at least in Jay's case it was some years ago) and perhaps Lucy was painting the portrait of innocent boy lost, in case anyone picked up on his past. The one account I do trust is Brad's - but still confused by the probable incoming call no-one is mentioning. Not sure it's entirely the fault of the reporting (although I don't have much time for that, either). I believe the only reason they did this Q&A session is because they knew they couldn't be forced to say anything they didn't want to and it is free monetised exposure.

Was the Q&A monetised, didnt cop that . Seems a lot are capitalising on this young lads unfortunate demise and by that I mean journalists, ex detectives ,youtubers ,TikTokers and the likes
