Either way, I think the prospect of having the boys out of his control was a big factor. Maybe he feared what would be brought up during a divorce and that would limit his visitation rights. Maybe SP fed him all this BS about Susan and her "feelings" toward him and it made JP grow so much hatred.

Ugh....I'm just disgusted. Everything they say seems to be the opposite of how things really are. He says he "loves" Susan. I think he hates her and it stewed and stewed until he decided he was not going to allow *her* to have control.

Everything since Susan's disappearance has been controlled by Josh. I'm worried at his desperation especially when it comes to the boys. He may look defeated, but inside I think he's a ticking time bomb.

My two cents here, but after reading Steve's posts in the exmo yahoo forum...wow is the only word coming to mind.

His clear hatred for the church played a role in disrupting the marriage, IMO. He's also very much a misogynist. He paints his ex-wife to be a crazy, fanatical Mormon woman with sexual hangups.

It is also clear he has issues controlling his anger, especially when questioned. If Susan threatened a divorce, I can certainly see him losing it and browbeating his son into killing her.

All my opinion.

And another thing! How is SP supporting 3 adult children and 2 growing grandchildren on his salary. IIRC, I read that SP's income was approx 58k per year. That is not much for such a large household with a 5 BR home in a gated community, 15 computers, elaborate camera equipment for surveilling neighbor children and only SP is working. I'm not buying it. There has to be supplementary income coming in from somewhere....there has to be, IMO.

I can't help but wonder- 15 computers and "elaborate" camera systems and thousands of images- could SP really obtain that much material JUST from taking pictures out his home bedroom windows? What if he was running live webcams or something from remote locations, bathrooms, bedrooms, etc., perhaps at, JP's house taking pics/videos of Susan (maybe that's why she wasn't allowed on the computer at her house!) I'm not really a computer guy, so other then burning a lot of DVD's at once, I'm not sure what they could be used for- servers, web hosting, recording, streaming, etc.???

I'm sitting here in my "computer room" with 2 computers and a printer. I am using 3 separate outlets with surge protectors in each one. Can you imagine how many outlets/power cords etc. to keep 15 computers online at once? My mind is boggled!!

I wonder if it's possible to check into how much electricity he was using in his home and if usage increased in the evenings, etc. In Ontario, we have "smart meters" that record a homeowner's electricity usage at various points of the day since the cost of electricity is different at various times of the day. If he was running 15 computers and possibly other gadgets at the same time, it's gotta show on the bill somehow.

After reading this I am even more convinced they should search SP's house again...there has to be more evidence that she was or is still there....

Reading through his posts on that site, it's clear he obsesses over sex. I would love to know the history, as to why he stopped posting there. They seem to have had some social functions with him, where there would be "booze and hot tubs." I wonder if those people have put it together that he was a member of their community. I wonder how they feel about him now. More directly, I wonder if they tired of his crap, and asked him to leave.

The other thing that's clear is that he's an angry, condescending man.

So, combine the fact that he obsesses over sex, he's angry and condescending, and he DESPISES all things Mormon - I bet Susan's experiences with him were just a non-stop joy fest.
