Do you mean "whole"? The same question came to my mind.
Yes! I'm sorry! If the body was not whole.

It sounds to me like those pics the detective saw of the boys were not pornographic
I read that new information was recently released that, I believe, Aaron Larson, was groped in the groin area before being told to run and not look back.
Does anyone know if his pants were kept as evidence? If Heinrich's DNA is on those pants, it would prove beyond reasonable doubt that he was Jacob's kidnapper.
I am hoping LE has those pants, just as they had Jared's sweatshirt.
I looked through some old news articles from when the boys in the pictures were in school. At least 3 of the boys were on the school wrestling team in high school. From what I can tell they are all still living. I wonder if LE has talked to any of them to see if DJH was acting strangely or said anything before or after their house was burned down. Did they suspect him of the burglaries?
The fire originated in a basement storage room.
The affidavit makes it sound as though the house was burglarized at the same time as the arson.
"...had again been burglarized and set on fire in approximately 11/1989."
If one wanted to burn evidence, such as clothing, to avoid detection, wouldn't it make more sense to set a fire in a wooded or isolated outdoor area?
I have a feeling that if DJH did, indeed, start the fire, it wasn't related to Jacob's abduction, per se, but might have been another manifestation of the pathological behavior he was exhibiting during that period. JMO
The article that Lotus linked is worth a read.

I'd love to know what items were taken during the burglaries beside photographs. I also wonder if he didn't spend time hiding inside that basement, and creeping around when no one was home, or the occupants were asleep. If that were true, I could see where he might stash 'souvenirs", e.g., a victim's hair, items of clothing and personal effects, in a secret lair. Then out of a twisted sense of guilt, he had to burn them in a kind of cleansing ritual.

DJH could have had an obsession with those boys hence why he would come over with his brother and watch them play football. He might have been so obsessed with them that he wanted photos and burglarized the aunt's home to get photos of them. Maybe he had done other things with the boys and burned the home because he thought his DNA might be found on clothing or somewhere else in the home.
It's possible he could have stolen more things before starting the fire and thought that people would think the items were lost in the fire instead of stolen and wouldn't be looking for them.

It seems odd also that all the boys (that we know about) who were attacked in Paynesville hung around in the same group. From the victim interviewed on TV... "Cole explained that he and the other victims were in a small circle of friends, and felt they were being stalked or watched." Heinrich did seem obsessed with just this one small group of friends.
Why do sexually abused kids do fires?
When my hubby was a kid, for awhile he lived by a family that sexually abused their children, Everyone knew it but it was considered disgusting , but so what.
Anyway, a couple of the boys , I suppose at least old enough to be committed to St. Peter, would be released for some kind of home visits. My hubby was a kid so he had no idea why this happened.
Anyway, they would be home for awhile. One of the boys would start a fire and then run in to rescue the people. He was hailed as a hero in the paper .
My hubby did report him to LE. I forget now if they listened to him or not. He was just a kid at the time.
I remember almost 40 years ago when I was first a teacher hearing about a car crash with teens in this family and another family. One boy was killed. Another teacher reported to me that the sister was upset her brother died because she would not have anyone to sleep with anymore. We were disgusted, but there was no mandatory reporting then. Nor did we think of it as a crime.
Yes, that is the way it was before Jacob happened.
I have other stories as well and I am sure others do too
ELOC, could you refresh me on the fbi book title you read?
