I don't believe for a second that they are starting that late. They are purposely misleading the media. They did the same thing yesterday. It wasn't until hours after the operation started that they finally admitted it was already a go.

Both days they started around the same time. I think the first day was 10:40 and the next was 11:00. My guess is they'll do it the same way they have been. They've got a routine going.
This is what I think is going on too.

Exactly this. It’s only 7:15 am there. They started after 9:00 am both times. They should be getting ready to kick out the reporters within the next hour or two.

"COMMUNITY CHOOSES LOVE OVER BLAME" read one of the headlines in response to criticism of the coach.

Worth pondering. If we all thought more like the Thai's do the world might be a slightly nicer place, it's not called the Land of Smiles for nothing! In my opinion he's served his time already and the fact he kept those kids alive and never left them far outweighs the daft mistake he made.

Choose love.=====================================================================

Brought this ^^^ over from last thread. I am sorry. I am bracing myself for tomatoes....but I have to disagree somewhat.

I agree that the smiling, laid back, attitude is very lovely. But before we christen the country with sainthood, it can have it's drawbacks. One of the main things I have learned about Thailand, and neighboring countries, is that it is one of the top tourist destinations for Pedophiles. The sex industry that caters to foreigners, wanting to pay for sex with young victims, is very big here.

And I have to believe that the very attitude we described above, of being calm, laid back, forgiving and with big smiles, helps add to the problem.

I know this might offend some here. But I cant ignore it when I keep hearing how it is the land that chooses love over hate. Being forgiving and laid back is nice. But it can have it's drawbacks..JMO MOO

We have this problem big time in the US too.

I'm not in a position to throw rocks at their culture when I live in a culture where parents think it is a'ok to send their teenagers on drunken senior trip vacations.

As the hour of this ordeal draws closer and we prepare to celebrate the rescue of the 13, could I ask that we keep the positivity going until the many divers and volunteers are also safe. There is a lot of equipment to be removed and many exhausted people to evacuate before we can call this over.

My faith in humankind has been restored during this awful event. I have learned much from you all (and about some of you), and from adversity has come greater understanding.

So many different versions of how the boys are diving with their rescuers. Here is another.

The Thai authorities say the rescued boys are able to eat rice porridge, although their request for a favourite pork dish has been turned down until their digestive systems recover from 10 days without food.

OK, so i'm late to the party (as usual), but you all were talking about hearts and emoticons...
can everybody see a red emoticon heart, and a small black text heart here?

❤️ ❤︎

(I promise this is not a "blue and black or white and gold dress" question!) :)
Gardenista made a post with a small black text heart - but when it was quoted by Elainera, the black text heart changed into a red emoticon heart...
I'm so confused...

Something about this was posted early this morning, but this was just posted and has lots of info

Media behaviour comes under fire

In the race to be the first to get their hands on news and photos of the operation to extract 12 boys and their coach from Tham Luang cave in Chiang Rai's Mae Sai district, some media crossed the line in their attempts to obtain information.

This led members of the public to slam the journalists responsible and question the ethics and professionalism of those channels, publications and portals.

On Sunday, two cases of media malpractice, in particular, infuriated the public: the use of a drone which interfered with a rescue helicopter and the interception of officers' radio communications.

One news outlet, in an attempt to capture photos of the first four boys rescued from the flooded cave, sent a drone flying near a helicopter that was used to evacuate the boys to a hospital in Chiang Rai. The operator of the drone claimed that he had asked for permission from an air force officer — a claim which the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) later denied.

More at the link.

Flying a drone near a rescue helicopter really frosted my cookies. That’s the nicest way I can put it.
