Then for the love of god, can you explain to me why your mom/Cindy would do that? My oldest sister is just like that and I can't figure her out either. She wasn't mad when her son robbed a bank, she was mad at the person who she wrongly thought turned him in..I mean it couldn't have been the fact that his picture was all over the news..arrrgghh.

IMO These kinds of women know they were not the best of mothers and feel that if they had been , their children would have turned out to be better people.. Allowing the bad behaviors isn't so much about loving their child unconditionally, it's about avoiding their own feelings of guilt at having "failed" us. Pretending that we are good people, that whatever it is we did wrong is someone (anyone) elses fault (blaming the people we hang out with, blaming LE etc etc) allows them to pretend that they are good mothers.
