Meghan needs to rein in her 'massively extravagant' spending, warns veteran royal correspondent Jennie Bond - because it doesn't 'play well' with the British public

The pink Christian Dior gown above is believed to have cost £90,000 and the black Ralph and Russo engagement dress was £55,000. I don’t like either the Christian Dior one looks like a table cloth that has been wrapped around the Duchess. The Ralph and Russo one is too exposed up top you couldn’t wear that to see Her Majesty.

Do they really think she paid for them? Or that price? Designers want her in their clothes

They used to say the same thing about Diana too
But she got hell fire if she showed up in a dress she had worn before. You can’t just ever win in some public’s eyes, blah

(I do agree it looks like a tablecloth lol but love the engagement dress)

Formula for true friendship! The Queen, 93, attends longtime pal Sir Jackie Stewart's 80th birthday lunch at London's Royal Automobile Club - before he escorts her to her car

The monarch, 93, who has known the Formula One great for decades, joined family and friends for a celebratory lunch in the Louis XIV-style restaurant at the Royal Automobile Club in London's Pall Mall this afternoon.

In January Sir Jackie was invited to stay with the Queen at Sandringham, in Norfolk, and was seen out on shoots with the family.

So it is of little surprise the monarch was eager to turn up to mark her friend's milestone birthday.

Members of the royal family are not allowed to accept any free clothing it all gets sent back. They have to declare any gifts they receive. I am sure they get discounts though.

Prince Charles' Highgrove garden raises £7m for charity as it celebrates 25th anniversary
The gardens of Highgrove have raised £7million for charity after the Prince of Wales transformed them from flat neglected plot to an organic haven, it has been revealed on the 25th anniversary of their public opening.

The Gloucestershire garden, which is open to the public even when the Prince is in residence, has helped fund charities from Tusk, tackling elephant poaching in Africa, to apprentice beekeepers and opera for homeless people.

... Nowadays, he regularly catches visitors unawares to lend the gardeners a hand himself, and is said to be a “dab hand” with a long-handled pruner.:D

...the modern garden is also littered with personal mementoes including a tree planted with Prince George and a thatched tree house known as Hollyrood House built for Prince William's seventh birthday in 1989.

It’s hard to believe that a pink Dior table cloth costs 90k. And it’s one of the most unattractive maternity gowns I’ve ever seen. It makes her look like a battleship. And, reveals ill fitting undergarments.

The R&R dress I just love, but I do agree too exposed for company with Her Majesty!

This is a difficult style era for women. So much of what I’m seeing out of the couture houses is made from new blended materials that just don’t look good. Maybe it’s just my preference for older materials, pure cotton, wools, linens, and then finer silks, gabardine, satins, chiffon’s, etc.

Modern style, this monochrome, form fitting, liquid effects are lacking in vibrancy. About the only dress it worked with was Meghan’s after wedding evening dress.

Meghan could study Diana. She kept it quite simple and made a splash at the big events in her Versace outfits!

All rambling fashion jmo!

Yeah, that makes sense and I’m sure about the discounts most likely and those prices are usually for couture off the run way, not for the replicas for in store (at least that’s one thing I retained from my fashion merchandising course in college lol)

 'I am getting the feeling that the public don’t like her terrifically spending huge quantities of money.'
'I think I’d ask Meghan, suggest to her that she tries not to play any games with the press.'
 Playing games? (I don't understand what this is supposed to mean in context.)
'Try not to be too celebrity, because that doesn’t go down well with the public, and to try to ignore the fact that she’s getting quite a lot of flack from various directions.'
 Wot! You mean from people like you who are giving interviews for pointless articles like this?
Worse still this is from Jennie Bond who of all people should know better.

Honestly, she's been seen twice in public since early March <? both times she couldn't have looked any more LESS "celebrity" than a Tory PM ;) if she'd tried.

Give the chick a break!

And I should say it looked like I was getting snippy with you in my comment in response! Please know it wasn’t Towards you at all, just some of these articles just make me want to Binge eat ice cream at the craziness of them sometimes (meh, even a spam email makes me want to binge eat ice cream, sigh lol)

I hope I didn’t make you feel that way. I adore you and your contributions on this thread :)

LOL - No I'm almost always on my phone.
(sneaking a peak when should be doing RL things  )

I keep playing around with the 'reply box' icons to see what they do :D

Posts not always appear on the page as intended, so don't worry about formatting, I only really use the alignment (left/centre) ;)
You should just go ahead & practice right here - see what you end up with!

Harry's verbally abusive? Where have you got that from?

I don’t think the Duke of Sussex was being verbally abusive to the Duchess of Sussex he was just trying to ensure she was following royal protocol. You are not supposed to talk or turn your back on the Monarch especially on the balcony of Buckingham Palace when the national anthem is being played. The press particularly the DM would have went crazy if the Duchess turned her back to Her Majesty and the public. I fully believe the Duke of Sussex loves his wife very much and their relationship cannot be compared in any way to to his parents.

@floridagrrl I never thought you were being snippy. Thank you for being so kind and please know your contributions here are appreciated.

( That's does not come across as "snippy" to me, I highly doubt it would in 'Scottish' either ;) they're not known for their wit & sense of humour without good reason )

The video where Harry tells someone to turn around...there is someone with a hat standing behind the person in front of him (or even a bit behind Harry, hard to tell), to Meghan's right. You can see her hat moving. I believe it is a cousin, he is telling her to turn around, Meghan turns to see their convo, he says this, Meghan also turns around.
