Wow that finger does look like it healed improperly from a break. My cousins finger is like that due to it not being properly taken care of. Judith was on to something. Great find!

When my daughter broke two fingers (around 8 years old) we had to see a hand specialist. Because the hand is still growing in a child, they have to determine if the growth plates were affected. Can hinder normal growth if not properly addressed. We had to go to multiple appointments over several weeks and have several casts/hand braces made as the swelling went down.

I'd like to know more details on this finger injury as well.. Was it actually broken for unknown reasons by someone but hushed up? Years ago on FFJ Judith Philips was posting for awhile and the possibility was brought up that this finger was broken. Its slightly bent and doesn't line up with her other fingers with her hand placed against her face. If memory serves me correctly, Judith believed it was broken and healed in place. I don't want to put words in her mouth as that discussion was years ago. Here was the pic used in that discussion.....

Edit. Thanks tadpole for the close up pics of the WC doll. THose are the highest quality pics we've seen yet. Everyone should send a 'thanks' tadpole's way because for years we had one extremely grainy pic blown up to look at. You're another huge asset to this community.

So if this untreated broken finger thing is true, this is another serious injury (like face bashed with golf club) that the Ramseys decided not to have examined or report?

That looks like a shadow of her hair to me. Both sides have a shadow from her bangs/fringe.

I am a nurse ! You are very right too! My son's arm was broken twice during baseball games in high school and it was broken around his growth plate. (He ended up quitting BB and did cross country instead thankfully!) You are so correct. They have to watch it to make sure growth is not hindered. He also had to have several different casts throughout the healing process due to the swelling going down. This doesn't look like it was ever seen by a doctor. I wonder if they just bought a finger splint at a local pharmacy to use. (Especially if it was in fact from an abusive act by a family member. Maybe it happened in close proximity to another injury and would have been questioned.) MOO

Interesting in the second quote how her example paints her dead victim daughter as antagonizing Burke. Burke was 'made unhappy' by Jonbenet's actions.

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder when this photo was taken? Maybe it could be compared to the Dr. timeline to see if it lines up with another injury. There does appear to be swelling between the middle joint and fingertip. I want to look through other photos now to compare and look for further possible injuries. I do know there's a picture of her with what appears to be either a bite mark or bruise on her inner arm. Let me find that one and post it really quick.

I tripped, fell forward and although my hands were extended, planted my forehead smack into the sharp corner of a metal furniture leg, requiring stitches by a plastic surgeon. My nephew, at about 3 years of age, slipped, fell forward and busted his chin on the opened and down door of the dishwasher as it was being loaded, requiring stitches by a plastic surgeon. My niece did a face plant after getting tangled in a jump rope, scrapes on nose - no doctor needed.

I don't think JBR's prior injuries are from anything sinister, such as being abused. As for her other doctor visits, they seem to be just normal childhood germ issues.

PR believed that LE was her enemy. No doubt she was coached that LE will lie to get a response so she was on guard and likely thought that the information about prior sexual abuse was a lie just to gauge her reaction. She wanted proof. Had they shown her proof, we may have seen an hysterical reaction.

I am not convinced that JBR was being sexually abused by anyone. To my non-scientific mind, all the injuries noted to that area may very well be consistent with her falling on her bike and chronic vaginitis.

BBM ~ I am not convinced JBR was sexually abused either, but I do believe BR tormented her and caused her physical injuries on purpose, up to and including Dec. 25/96.

As a poster mentioned, the physical injuries started about 1 year prior to her death, around the same time she was heavily into pageants. This is IMO when PR started to ignore BR and focused ALL her energy into JBR, and he lashed out in anger and jealousy.

Cold sores are caused by a Herpes virus (HSV-1 HSV-2)

They may be exacerbated by diet once the virus is in your system. Jonbenet had to contract it from another person.

I've had cold sores my whole life. I got them from my mom, initially.

O/T My nurse MIL gets them. Somehow, none of the rest of the family got them from her. That being said, for a nurse, she's super relaxed about swapping germs within the household, sharing food, reusing unwashed glasses waiting to be washed in the dishwasher....

She once had a cold sore while visiting us, and asked my daughter for a sip from her soda bottle. I had previously explained to my daughter how they spread, so I had to subtly fire my super-powered-eye-glare-of-death at my daughter, which successfully conveyed "Just give the dang soda to Lola! Don't drink after her! I'll buy you a new one!" :laughing:

I would call my ring finger my 4th finger as though the thumb is the first.
