Wow that finger does look like it healed improperly from a break. My cousins finger is like that due to it not being properly taken care of. Judith was on to something. Great find!
When my daughter broke two fingers (around 8 years old) we had to see a hand specialist. Because the hand is still growing in a child, they have to determine if the growth plates were affected. Can hinder normal growth if not properly addressed. We had to go to multiple appointments over several weeks and have several casts/hand braces made as the swelling went down.
ETA: I think you said you were a nurse, so you probably know all this! :blushing:
