No idea, but better to call the prosecutor than call a tabloid or TMZ or whatever some potential witnesses (in other cases) do. He may be a crackpot offering no value and neither side may want him, but better to go to the state's office.

I wasn't quite sure what went on in court today but I thought that Gus found out from Chris Hughes that he was on the witness list. Gus attempted to call the State Prosecutor and did not receive a call back.

If I heard a rumor that I was on a witness list and could not get the Prosecutor to call me back and give me the 411 I would be irritated. So I go to court to testify and the prosecutor asked me questions, I would think, Oh now you want to talk to me. I would have to keep my attitude in check. (I am only a smart-*advertiser censored* in my head)

Does JA wear caps or something because in a couple photos her teeth are messed up and in others they are perfect. just wondering

Honestly, in light of the letters deemed forgeries I believe the whole scenario was likely set up. TMK the letters talk about pedophilia, the braids are a further hint of that, and the call mentions a 12 year old girl. It seems to fit together too well for it not to be a) true (which is dismissed through handwriting analysis) or b) manufactured manipulation.

JMO

I think it's likely too.
She's a very stupid murderer but she's a highly successful manipulator.

Anyone willing to summarize what happened today?

Nurmi put on the smarmy Gus Searcy who was smiling and smirking during his testimony about having received a text from Chris Hughes indicating he knew he was on the witness list and discussing it with him later via phone.

Juan Martinez ripped him to shreds calling him (basically) an attention *advertiser censored*(dom). (my twist on it).

Then Martinez called Chris Hughes who detailed how that interaction went down and that he was not "in cohoots" with the State like the defense is claiming.

Nurmi asked for a recess to address this after Chris Hughes called him a "liar" related to some correspondence with his wife . It will be continued on Wed. at 3:30

In my opinion, the actual truth is that Jodi Arias premeditated and committed this heinous murder. What's left to be decided is what her sentence will be. And yeah, I'm a total sleuth but in this case, the State of AZ has already conducted and concluded that investigation. We're at the trial phase now, not the investigation phase. But that's just me. :moo:

So investigators are always thorough with cases, and never overlook evidence? Or perhaps get things wrong? People are never wrongly accused of something based on the State's evidence at the time? I guess I'm not as trusting in the police system as you to deliver 100% correct conclusions. JMO

IMO
I know we have defense to come, but so far I have not seen any evidence at all that Jodi could say she was using self defense. The defense MUST put on some other person besides Jodi that correborates that Travis was abusive towards her in a physical way.

In my book, even if Travis was verbally abusive on occasion, that still does not allow someone to stab and shoot him to death. She would have to have been fearing for her life and since we know she is a liar then the testimony must come from someone else besides her IMO.

I just dont see this happening unless the defense has a surprise witness that can testify that travis was physically abusive towards her. I wont believe her or her mom. It would have to come from a 3rd party.

Even if they could come up with this kind of witness, it doesnt explain why she would not immediately call 911 after defending hersefl. Why no mention to Ryan that she just defeneded herself against him.

The whole SD theory is a kockamainy BS story IMO.

But after seeing how the defense got this 1 yahoo on the stand today, I am willing to wait to see who else they can call.

One thing I am a little concerned about is that the jury may not like the PA going balistic with any witnesses. I just think the strong armed approach can make the jury mad at the PA.

I think Juries tend to look at all witnesses like themselves being up there. They think to themselves that they have been drug into jury duty and the witnesses have been drug in to testify, so they tend to feel for the witnesses, and if they get badgered on the stand, then they tend to get mad at the attorney doing the badgering. JMO of course.

Ok. Jodi is on the stand. What is ypur first question? Mine would be to give me your movements from the time you left travis un til u got home.

Is question in the wrong place?

Looking forward to "watching" the trial and chatting about it tomorrow, here.

If no one minds that this "newcomer" joins in! I was always a lurker here. (I loved watching and live chattting over at the Hinky Meter during the Anthony trial!). It's nice to have people to talk to while watching!

Good night to all!

Oh I'm sure those things happen. But I don't see that in this case, not even in the least. If anything I see Martinez leaving out even MORE incriminating evidence against JA. Which I'm hoping he's saving for the rebuttal case.

I don't feel a need to justify how or why I participate on this board and/or how or why I come to conclusions with you, with respect, so i don't think I'll be engaging in much more dialogue with you.

But feel free to carry on! :seeya:

My question: Why did you drag him back into the shower?

Gosh I don't even know where I'd start with Jodi. Maybe "did you kill Travis Alexander?". And really, honestly, who knows what she would say at that point.

Just interesting to an outsider that the point among many doesn't seem to be to examine the facts of the case, nor to find the actual truth... It's more to seek reinforcement of pre-formed notions and only examine the case from one perspective while dismissing others. It seems antithetic to sleuthing. JMO

The facts of the case? I thought that is what we have been talking about. When it comes to anything that Jodi says we don't know if we are getting facts or not though since she lies alot. Then there are "facts" that really aren't facts at all. Like Travis letting Jodi in that early morning, that's not a fact but someones opinion. Facts that we know for sure, just some of them:

1. Travis was stabbed 27 times.
2. Travis was shot in the head.
3. Travis had his throat sliced to the point of almost decapitation.
4. Jodi claims to have not been in AZ at all the day of the murder (first time).
5. Jodi claims to have been at Travis's house when two intruders came in and attacked and killed Travis but left her alive (second time).
6. Jodi claims, through her lawyers, that she killed Travis in self defense (third time).
7. Photos prove that Jodi was there the day Travis was killed.
8. Jodi's blood is mixed with Travis's blood in Jodi's handprint left on the wall of the hallway to the bathroom.
9. Jodi rented a car 90 miles away from her hometown a couple of days before she killed Travis.
10. Jodi made plans to meet Ryan B in Utah on June 4, 2008 but arrived almost 24 hours late.
11. A gun was stolen from Jodi's grandparents home that was the same caliber as the gun Jodi used to shoot Travis.
12. Jodi is a liar.

Now of those facts, plus others I did not list, what points to any sort of self-defense? What points to not having enough information to find Jodi guilty of murdering Travis? I, personally, do not see why there is any need to wait and see what the defense will say concerning this case. The defense will say what Jodi tells them. The defense knows nothing more, truthfull, about this case than we do. The defense has every reason to try and discredit Travis and make him out to be the monster when the real monster is their client. This is also not a court of law and we are able to determine guilt or innocence on our own without listening to the lies brought forward by the defense without being punished for it. Our opinions do not make any difference in the outcome of this trial. We will not decide if Jodi goes to prison for life or gets the death penalty.

MOO

Do we know when the sex tape was recorded? The phone sex that is. Did the defense give a time frame as to when this was? Was it checked to make sure that it is in fact Travis on the tape and not some other guy since we had Ryan testify to he and Jodi also having phone sex? Lots of questions and I refuse to take the word of Jodi and her defense team unless they have actual proof of it.

I think Beth Karas mentioned today that anyone who knows either of them (Travis or Jodi) could testify that it was them on the tape.

People find her charming, sweet, soft-spoken, tend to believe and buy into her story (or what I like to call BS). She uses "what she has" (whatever that is) and seems able to play that up to people's weaknesses -- men, her jailmates, etc.
When she comes across people who confront and call her out, she doesn't have use for them or tries to regain her manipulation over them. And she thought she was doing a fantastic job manipulating Det. Flores, reporters, and others but evidence doesn't lie and Jodi does.
