The Talent show

Desiree possibly would not be able to get off of work for a whole day. Not all businesses are family friendly and if one takes too much time off from work for family things, the other employees and the bosses get upset. I know nothing of her business where she works so i am not casting aspersions; just presenting an idea.

And if Kaine is like my hubby, school events were my domain. I was in charge of those things.

He's in charge of fixing the plumbing, roofing the house, that kind of thing where I am only the very unskilled tool holder and hander to . Yes, I am a teacher making up words and ending a sentence with a preposition.

I'm not sure why you're addressing all that to me. I've said nothing (ever) about anyone attending or not attending the talent show.

Perhaps you have me confused with someone else.

I am simply baffled by this information, and trying to understand the facts of this case, in order to try to find out what happened to Kyron.

Yes, nurse, I agree as to the story not being totally clear about what was GJ and what mom was reported as saying about the talent show. When I watched it back (DVR) it was said that mom did not ask child about his GJ testimony.
Wow, that's so ethical, if true, and so difficult, IMO.

OMG...I "thought" I heard that too, but wanted to confirm before I commented on it...thank you so much, woo hoo, I am not  after all..

Well, the talent show doesn't change my theories much as I still think whatever happened to Kyron, if it was via Terri, was an accident and hence the half-baked alibi.

But why didn't Kyron say anything to Kaine about the talent show all that week?

I am thinking a reason could be that Kyron really didn't want to perform in the talent show. He wasn't proud of performing in it so surely he wouldn't want his folks there. It could have been a simple thing such as singing a song and maybe he doesn't like to sing. Or maybe he was to play an instrument he hadn't practiced on so well.

Or maybe another reason is this 9 yo is mistaken and Kyron wasn't in the talent show at all! JUst a thought.

Wasn't Kyron's class a split? Was it a second and third grade split? An 8 year old could have just had a birthday and turned 9.
Yes, I think it was a split class with second and third graders.

I'll have to go back, but I believe Calliope stated a parent had to accompany a child under the age of 12. If that is the case, mom should know what was asked and answered, unless, Dad went with him instead...I'll go back and see if I can find that post. Either way, too tough for any child ......

Huh, you know I just get the feeling that if Terri is guilty, she expected the school to notice his absence and contact her during the day. Maybe she didn't think she'd need an entire day of alibi, but just the trips to the grocery store, during which time she'd receive "the call" from Skyline and spring into concerned parent mode.

Maybe she never considered the entire day passing with no one noticing his absence, the talent show, etc.

In that case, one would think she would have sought out a more verifiable *alibi* than driving around on random roads for 90 minutes. MOO

If she had planned this whole thing, she would have been better off just going home and getting on the computer there for an alibi once she was "done"...

The school supposedly puts out a calendar of events for the school year. Hopefully ALL parents know what is going on in their children's lives from month to month at school. TS,SF,Spelling Bee, Snow days...whatever it maybe...however, there seems to be some who did not know this info for whatever reason! They either didn't have the calendar or paid no attention to it!

In my experience, raising 4 children, and now having 3 grandsons currently living in my home in 2/4/6 grades, we have a calendar that comes out at beginning of year with things like holidays, early release days, conference days, snow days, etc. There is nothing on that calendar about individual talent shows, programs, science fairs, etc. Those all appear to be dates determined later as the school year evolves. There is an online calendar where you can look for school functions in "real time", and this seems to be more current, but even then, I have had "surprise" events that we didn't know anything about until a week or two prior.

I don't know what other districts do, but I imagine some are very exactly planned, and others are not. I know the IB is a constant and there is a lot of info on different IB projects and news on the participating school websites.

The talent show, who knows.....

I don't look too deeply into the talent show either, other than that he was suppose to participate. It very well could have been that he was signed up by his teacher, but didn't want to do it, therefore didn't talk about it. My son did this exact thing back in May. His teacher signed him up against his wishes, and was made to participate along with all the children in his class. I found out about it after it was over with that afternoon, when he came home from school.

I think that Terri knew that the school would not call her, nor Kaine, because it was the last day of school. There would be no need to send his work home the next day to complete, and he probably had taken most of his things home throughout the week. IMHO

I'll be the first to eat crow if this is not Terri's doings. But right now, everything surrounding the events of the last day of school raise huge red flags.

If she's guilty it means that she could not have any legit alibi for some part of the day, because that's when she would have been committing the crime.

they still had about 1.5 weeks of school left, it wasn't the last day...

If she was fishing with her e-mail, then why not show up at the school for the talent show and fish there? Talk about a supposed narcissist's dream spotlight...complete with her finding out Kyron is missing, sobbing, and holding baby K.

Just because there was a talent show, doesn't mean the parents were required or even supposed to attend. It may have been an okay if you come, okay if you don't scenario. If Kyron didn't have a big part, or was lumped in with another group because it was an "everyone must participate" type of school-wide talent show, then I honestly don't believe this is a big deal or the smoking gun. Honestly, of all the information to come out, this is the least important and most easily dismissed, IMHO.

And what's with having the nine-year-old testify? Couldn't they haven't gotten a teacher to testify about the specifics of the talent show? Is the prosecutor attempting to play on emotions with a child's testimony?

Last day of school was June 15th, though, according to the school calendar.

OMG! Where have I been all this time?
I could have sworn it was the last day!

Ummmm...now I really need to go back to the beginning!

It was only Kyron's last day of school. :(

Also, something about Kyron being characterized as "shy" is bothering me a little bit. We have seen that he was front and center for one talent show on the small clip of the video that the media has shown, and while he isn't grandstanding, he doesn't appear to be so shy that he was unable to perform.
The other clip of him also, where he is reading something about his Bridge project, yes, somewhat shy/quiet, but again, not so withdrawn that the thougt of a public appearance terrified him.
I'm not sure if I am misinterpreting him or not, but I think we may have attributed more shyness to him than he really exhibits.
MOO...
