Crews that have searched so far include the U.S. Game Commission, the Virginia State Police, the U.S. Marshals Service and the U.S. Forest service in addition to the local sheriff's offices. These organizations will continue to search Saturday.

Investigators are urging anyone who sees anything to call police as quickly as possible. Shuler said timely calls are important, and the longer someone waits to call the harder it makes it for police.

Archdale Police said they received a call from someone regarding a possible sighting of 14-year-old HW at Pioneer Family Restaurant located at 10914 N. Main Street.

Police said the teenager left the restaurant before police got there. Witnesses said she was seen with an older male and female.

On Friday, Greensboro police told WFMY News 2, the teenager was seen in a vehicle with three men in Archdale around the same time of the restaurant sighting.

I don't know what to say... The FBI needs to be in on this ASAP!

In her FB pics, she clearly has depression and self-esteem issues. In the pics at Walmart she did not look happy, possibly because she realized she's in over her head. But I pray they've been on the run and too busy for him to have touched her.

My fear is that desperate people do desperate things. This guy KNOWS he's not getting out of this unscathed. They need to get this plastered on every news station so people will stop helping them run.

I agree! They really need to widen the Amber alert area to the surrounding states. I was in TN at Norris Lake and got the alert on my phone early in the morning but I have a feeling they were long gone from there by then.

"Law enforcement has also asked anyone with cabins, campers, or other buildings in the mountains of Grayson, Smyth, Wythe, and surrounding Southwest Virginia counties, to check their property for any signs that W and Shook may have passed through."

Okay Archdale is out. I found in this article that they were spotted at Raccoon Branch Campground In Sugar Grove. This was the location the camping gear was possibly found.

Other articles have stated searches continuing in that area. Here's hoping they find them tonight.
I'm willing to bet that H's vision of what this adventure would be have been shattered and she probably just wants to go home. I can't imagine any 14 year old girl not being over the camping and on the run experience at this point.
 
I was so hoping she would be back home by now! Even though the restaurant sighting wasn't her, it shows people are keeping their eyes open. I wish there was more news coverage. They seem to be traveling around so it stands to reason someone could spot them!

Looking at the map and taking Archdale out, it almost looks as if they are traveling in a circle.

According to NCMEC the Amber Alert is still just for Tennessee. http://www.missingkids.com/poster/AMBER/11791/8633/screen

The trip to Marion, NC on Tuesday was just to a WalMart to buy camping gear. There was a report that there was a cell phone ping back in Morristown, TN the next day. From there it looks like they started moving north. I suspect they were planning to head north on the Appalachian Trail. There are a lot of camp sites and camping shelters along the trail. However, the truck got stuck and there were reports that LE found their camping gear. So plans might have changed. Now they would either be looking to acquire more gear or they have found someplace to hide were camping gear is not needed. The weather has been stormy the last few nights so I doubt that they are outside in the elements. The thought of them not having any gear feels ominous to me.

I agree with that and add: The suspect might also be getting frustrated that things are not going as he planned. I pray he doesn't do something really crazy/bad.

There is no $ amount mentioned for this reward the U.S. Marshalls put out.
I wonder, is it more effective to not say how much $ the reward is?

Strange that they are not saying the amount of the reward. I thought I had read an amount this morning, but now I can't find it.

The video attached to this article says they are actively searching on the Appalachian Trail and another horse trail that is nearby. Edit to add: the video also mentioned that they found some gear that is believed to be theirs.
 
That is a fairly isolated area with only a few roadways in and out. If they're still there, law enforcement should have little problem catching him.
 
If this report is true, they were heading for Mt. Rogers. It's easy to get lost in this area, even if you're driving. At the same time, it is very unlikely they would be able to to leave the are without being detected, if law enforcement is monitoring the roadways in and out. I'd have ATVs on every trail and forest road within a 20 mile radius.

I believe that is correct. They were caught on camera in Sugar Grove on 6/23. There was a possible sighting in Archdale, NC on Thursday, but has since been discredited. I read in a link up thread that somebody thinks they may have given them a ride to Virginia at some point. I'll try to find the link

This is the latest article I could find. It doesn't really have any new info, except that they were seen the day after their sighting at Sugar Grove store, twice on Flat Ridge. I hadn't read that before.

I'm increasingly worried for H's well being. Adequate food, water, etc. Temps were in the upper 80s until yesterday. Lots of thunderstorms in the evenings. IMO the situation is desperate at this point, if no one's helping them out. I pray they find her today! He can rot...
 
I played around a little more with the map. From Flat Ridge Rd., one could turn right and come back out in Troutdale.

It does really seem they may have made a circle back to Troutdale and the Appalachian Trail. From there they could have headed back toward NC, TN or to Atkins VA where the trail comes out on Rt. 11 under I81. I wonder if they're still using the dogs to track them.
