wow so likely not premeditated if he wore flip flops and left them at the scene
A scenario that comes to mind is a druggie out maybe for a food run, just driving, pulls into deserted church parking lot to eat, shoot up.

Remember the June 2022 arrest for robbery over $10,000? He's going back. Just waiting to process through the system. Then as he eats, shoots up, lolls around, he hears a runner. What's he got to lose? He's going back.

From the Memphis Flyer story about the Kemper Case, Abston took 5 extra years not to admit guilt: "On Monday, Abston pled guilty just before he was scheduled to go to trial and was sentenced to 20 years in prison without parole. He had earlier turned down an offer of 15 years on the same charge but, according to Durand, told the court Òhe did not want to sign his name giving himself the time.Ó Abston has a long juvenile record of theft and aggravated assault." A SAMARITAN’S TALE

I personally think it's doubtful he will be helpful.

Actually the article does say "waiting":
"According to police records, “As the abduction was violent with, as captured on video, the suspect waiting for, then rushing toward the victim, then forcing the victim into the vehicle, where she was confined and removed and continues to be missing, it is believed and supported by the facts and physical evidence that she suffered serious injury. Further, it is probable and apparent from witness statements that these injuries left evidence, e.g. blood, in the vehicle that the Defendant cleaned.

Ok my mistake but that doesn’t make it clear that he was waiting for those 24 minutes.

So his last kidnapping was a blitz attack on the victim immediately after leaving work. Seems planned?
Eliza was kidnapped as she followed her predictable routine, does this guy observe his victims before striking?

His last victim was also a well-to-do lawyer. Does he choose his victims based on their finances?
Seems this case is sexual violence and she knew it and put up a fight to her death. I want to be wrong!
My first thought was he had seen her many times in the area he was scouting for a victim, knew her routine and wanted money and things went wrong when she fought him back.
I don’t know but I don’t feel she is alive. This is another sad, horrible case. He should have never been released from prison.

The car sat there for 4 minutes before it moved. Ugh. MOO.
Yes, and had we known that, then this all would have made a heck of a lot more sense early on.

I was under the impression that this occurred much faster, with a blitz attack and the vehicle speeding away. That seemed suspiciously easy.

He must have been trying to get her under control during that time (or worse).

According to that article he was in the area for 20 minutes, he was waiting for her and then rushed up to her and grabbed her. How did he know her route?
I wonder if her intended running route was a loop or an out-and-back?

If it was an out-and-back with a turnaround point, he might have been parked in the vehicle for unrelated reasons, seen her run past, started imagining his potential crime, and then upon seeing her approach a second time (after her turnaround), made the impulsive decision to act.

MOO this is pure speculation

How exactly did he think he would get away with this?

CCTV cameras everywhere
His DNA would already be on file

The mind boggles that he is just this vile of human being and that jail taught him nothing at all. Don’t you get interviewed before release to make sure you won’t reoffend?

Jail doesn’t teach. He spent 20 years in prison and was let out. Went in at 18, already violent, let out at 38? It seems that if someone got a long term but a chance of being let out into the community, there should be a long pre-discharge program to adapt. 20 years have passed. The world has changed. And, it is great that jail mates are offered a chance by post-release programs, but it backfires partially because it is post- … I think to invest money into a good step program would make more sense. And this man got out, he won’t be flipping burgers, obviously, and he has zero skills for programming. So how high is his chance to reoffend? Sorry, if I digressed.

Per the affidavit posted above, a witness saw him around 7:50 that morning already cleaning his car.

So he was already trying to get rid of the evidence within a few hours. I hope they can find her as he must of been traceable most of the time with most places now having cctv footage.

He also couldn’t of travelled that far within the time frame given imo

Shouldn't they be able to tell everywhere the vehicle had been between abduction and apprehension based on vehicle built in tracking ? Same with where he personally had been based on his cell as long as it was not turned off?

Retrace the path and if she can't be found in any of those locations than she likely transferred to someone else, yes?

SBM: Records also state the GMC Terrain in question was seen 24 minutes before the abduction in surveillance footage.

I wonder where the GMC Terrain was seen. Was he laying in wait, was she being followed or was it seen elsewhere?

It also makes you wonder if he wasn’t the same guy the cross country team spoke of. The one in a dark SUV.

The TBI performed a DNA tests on the slides and found that they belonged to Cleotha Abston after his information matched that in the CODIS database.

According to police records, “As the abduction was violent with, as captured on video, the suspect waiting for, then rushing toward the victim, then forcing the victim into the vehicle, where she was confined and removed and continues to be missing, it is believed and supported by the facts and physical evidence that she suffered serious injury. The slides are men's slip-on shoes, so those are his shoes.

Oh boy. Cleo‘s acquaintance mentioned in the AA works for a cleaning service - Majesty’s cleaning. Did the Fletchers employ a cleaning service?
I know they were looking for someone to hang kids swing from a tree and were looking for specialists - arborists? Shears? This is the connection in my mind.
