Chattanooga Shooter Mohammod Abdulazeez Followed Al Qaeda Cleric Online in 2013

http://abcnews.go.com/US/chattanoog...zeez-al-qaeda-cleric-online/story?id=32585636

Video tapes of Anwar al-Awlaki, the high-profile American al Qaeda cleric and recruiter, have circulated on the internet and have been popular in jihadist circles long after al-Awlaki's death by American drone strike in September 2011.

But there is no evidence so far that Mohammod Abdulazeez, 24 -- whose family insists he was deeply troubled and mentally ill -- was inspired by or directed by ISIS to carry out a bloody attack on U.S. military targets of the sort the Syria and Iraq-based terror group has publicly called for over the past year, the officials said. Al-Awlaki was a high-profile member of al Qaeda, from which ISIS -- once an al Qaeda affiliate in Iraq -- publicly split in recent years.

bbm Does one have to be a follower of isis to be a terrorist?

How far do we have to go? Ain't no way this was an Islamic or Isis attack. No, never. That stupid kid in Charleston was without a doubt a radical, skin-head racist, but this guy was only a depressed, drug using mis-fit who only wanted to do a deed to get in good with his god.
What have we come to in this country?

I'd LOVE to hear the Obama Administration's *reasoning* as to WHY they didn't.
Is anyone from the admin on record as to why they elected not to?

No!
Reporters yesterday asked the why and was told obama would most likely address it today.

Now, now you know he was also drinking with those drugs
Shameful...

FBI investigating armed attack at Tennessee nuclear plant 22 Apr, 2013

Authorities are still searching for answers following a bizarre firefight Sunday between a suspicious person and a security guard patrolling a Tennessee nuclear power plant.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has taken the reigns of the probe, but so far authorities say they have yet to identify the mysterious man who fired at least two shots at a security guard early Sunday morning next to a facility on the property of the Tennessee Valley Authority's Watts Bar nuclear power plant, about 60 miles southwest of Knoxville.

The FBI is being joined in the investigation by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

According to investigators, a Tennessee Valley Authority security officer was routinely patrolling the nuclear plant at around 2 a.m. Sunday when he located a suspicious person in a restricted area, only a few hundred yards from the protected area that houses the nuclear reactor and power production facilities.

“They spoke for a few seconds. The officer didn't believe there was any danger," TVA spokesman Jim Hopson tells reporters.

In a manner of only seconds, though, things quickly changed. The suspect successfully fled the scene seconds later, says Hopson, but not before exchanging gunfire with the security guard.

Abdulazeez also liked driving fast in the hills surrounding Chattanooga.

Two nights before the attack, he and some friends went joyriding in Abdulazeez's rented gray convertible Ford Mustang, passing through the towns of Whitwell, Dayton and Jasper, TN.

"Fast car on a rainy night. We were flying, doing tight turns and drifting," said the friend, adding that they returned home at about 3 o'clock in the morning.

"He seemed totally normal. We made plans to hang out on the weekend," he said.

It's all totally normal, nothing to see here.

Abed al-Kader Ahmad al-Khateeb told The Associated Press that he was barred from seeing his client and that family members were also prevented from visiting the detainee. Computers and cellphones were taken from the man's home, but he has not been charged with anything, the attorney said.

Abdulazeez stayed with the uncle in Jordan, but only to help him with his small cellphone business, the attorney said. Neither Abdulazeez nor his uncle was religious or belonged to any sort of political organization, al-Khateeb said.

Abdulazeez was not religious?? I thought it was reported he was a "devout Muslim" ?

A Navy officer and a Marine fired their sidearms hoping to kill or subdue the gunman who murdered five service members last week in Chattanooga, Tennessee, according to multiple military officials familiar with internal reporting on the tragedy.

It remains unclear whether either hit Muhammad Abdulazeez, who was shot and killed Thursday after he gunned down four Marines and a sailor at the Navy Operational Support Center in Chattanooga.
