I've read every post in the HB series of threads, and am stumped, too. My gut says one thing, though, which I will post after I get an answer to this question:

Did the dogs trace her scent TO the woods but not INTO the woods?

or

Did the dogs trace her scent INTO the woods and lost it later?

Very important piece of the puzzle that I cannot get a straight answer on.

And you won't, because no one in authority has said...

IIRC something was mentioned about dogs not being able to trace sent into the woods, but I cannot find a link to it now... All I get with a Google News search:

"Investigators used search dogs and a helicopter to comb the rural area near Holly’s home."

OT, but wow, only 3 member, 12 guests viewing this thread today, Saturday May 14th - that's gotta be a new low...

Video – Frustration Mounts in Search for Holly Bobo

Fox News Geraldo at Large – Apr 25, 2011- 10:40am
John Walsh, Mark Furman
Case Signal Transcriptions:
- Mark Furman @ 7:14: “I called Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. I actually talked to a dispatcher. I talked to somebody in the Sheriff’s department.”
- Mark Furman @ 8:39: “When I called Tennessee, I also found out that the dogs did not scent anything in that treeline where they supposedly entered.”

Sometimes the most simple explanation wins: I don't think they went through the woods. I think they got in a vehicle and are long gone. The only part that confuses me is LE's adamant stance that it's someone local.

Frankly, I think LE came to this conclusion way too early. They may be right, but they also may be wrong. I too think she was in a vehicle within minutes, the item(s) dropped or thrown were done so within a short period of time, and that they are not an indication of where the perp could have taken her.

Read a lot of these posts, great thoughts, I am astounded that major news is not following this, its completely dropped off mainstream media????????????

There isn't much the media can find an angle for, when no one will talk about the case. I am not challenging the family, it is their choice to talk or not. People online will criticize either choice.

I just hope the family does not later wish they had spoken out more, I hope they don't have to regret their choice. It is hard to decide what to do, but I can't imagine allowing what the public at large would think of me or my family affecting me enough to not go on TV at every possible opportunity to speak about my child, show photos, etc.

Again, just my opinion, I am not criticizing their choices but I am of the opposite mind that there is no such thing as too much media in a missing persons case.

There are the cases where the abductor is not someone who would be "missing" because they were never integrated into society to begin with.

Such as Elizabeth Smart's abductors.

There are also the cases where the victim is held in the suspect's basement, cellar, attic or elsewhere. Tied up, blindfolded, gagged, drugged, whatever. Then that person can go to work or do what they need to do.

Shawn and Ben's abductor left the apartment

Sarah Maynard was in the guys basement

Jaycee didn't interrupt Garrido's normal routine

The 62 year old woman who was abducted and her house burned down, was also being held at his house.

If you are holding the person hostage at your house... it is not suspicious when you leave and come back home. You aren't going to a cave in the mountains... you are just coming home. As long as you aren't buying anything obviously weird, you wouldn't draw attention.

Absolutely, it's possible Holly could be being held somewhere.

Nobody thought it was possible for Elizabeth to be abducted like she was... and then still be alive 9 months later.

I've learned to never think something isn't possible... it's always possible.

It may not happen, but it is certainly possible.

Thanks for your insight, I see how it's possible. I guess what's confusing me is LE saying it's a "community member". How can they definitively say this?

Do they think this because they think they know who did it? Or is it because the Bobo house was so remote that it would have to be a local?

Let's assume the LE knows the scent wasn't traced INTO the woods, and that she was taken either by atv or vehicle. Then what is making them so sure it's a community member. If she was taken by vehicle, it could be anyone.

On the same train of thought, if she is held somewhere, I highly doubt any of the "local boys" would be involved as holding them in the home where they live with their parents is not likely. I guess she could be in a cabin or at a remote location, but then again, someone would have to be making trips there at some point.

I wonder if either of Holly's parents have gone back to work at all? Just curious...this case is dragging on and its been a month already.

I think many people have lost interest because there is nothing new to discuss. There really hasn't been any new information released in weeks now. Not much to wrap your mind around.

I only check in once every couple days because LE won't release any info. There is nothing to discuss.....
MOO

To those of you who are believing that their perp is "someone local" because LE reported that this is what they think....what if it's not someone local and LE knows it, but just let that tidbit out to throw off the perp?

If the perp isn't local, I think there is even a less of a chance that LE has any idea who it is...so not sure that would help LE. I think they do believe he is local, but I am not convinced, at least not based on what they said, that he must know the terrain, etc...we've all seen plenty of cases when that did not turn out to be true.

Still thinking that the RSO might be involved. I still haven't been able to find any concrete info about him being cleared by LE for this offense. This is just my opinion though and hope no one runs with this as a rumor.

Guys news has been soo not there for Holly. Another poster gave me a link. I haven't had time to really check out this FB or the information. But for the sake of understanding that this FB discussion and all information you read within that FB stays in the Parking Lot take a look and discuss here.

I'm not sure if this is allowed, so please forgive me Mods and delete if inappropriate; It would be interesting to read what [ in your opinion only ] is the profile of Holly's abductor. As in:
1) 25-35 yrs old
2) someone who sees Holly daily, that she would recognize but not know well
3) has a history of minor brushes w/ the law
4) is an avid hunter with survivalist skills
5) military background

MOO and pure speculation on my part

where is Holly? I want to hear more about the investigation into her case... why are we not hearing a thing?

the turnout for her public searches were the largest I have ever seen...

we need to hear something...

I pray for her safe return or recovery.

MOO and pure speculation on my part

1. Age unknown
2. Someone who Holly has known for a long, long time
3. someone with NO brushes with the law
4. Is a recreational hunter or has been around hunting
5. Someone who is actually living two lives. One as a murderer, and one as a grieving community member. At times, this person themselves can't believe that it actually happened. They don't view themselves as a murderer. At this point, they are starting to believe their own lies, and are slipping away from the reality that they actually killed her.
6. Her body will be found when this person eventually returns to the place he/she put it. He/she loves Holly, and will be drawn to go back to "mourn" her.
