Regarding call off searches - it was a very stormy spring that year, even had tornadoes, and I though that was a big reason..

Every so often I re-read the thread title and wonder what it knows that I don't.

Are you saying this because of the word "believed" in the title?

I can't see her leaving her family voluntarily... thinking of her poor mom in the first video.. Also brother...
too much family to leave on her own without contact IMO..

"Believed abducted" may be read in ways other than "left voluntarily."

Yes, OldSteve, the initial volunteer searches was scheduled to cease on 04/24/2011; Easter Sunday, but were extended due to the significant find/s that afternoon. The violent storms moved in a couple days later and the searches were never resumed by LE..

(CBS/WREG/AP) PARSONS, Tenn. - The search efforts for missing 20-year-old nursing student Holly Bobo were called off Tuesday and Wednesday due to dangerous weather conditions.

According to Reuters, the search was called off due to flooded roadways and violent weather.

The Jackson Sun reported that police were the only ones who would be searching for Bobo during the dangerous storms.

"We don't want to put [volunteers] at risk," Tennessee Highway Patrol Lt. Brad Wilbanks said to the newspaper. "Law enforcement will still be around to respond to anything we find as it comes up."

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, searchers found an additional piece of evidence last week that may pertain to Bobo, but they are not releasing what it is, reports Reuters.

I think two things about the seemingly odd sequence of events help to make sense of it...

First, I always felt the story of what happened had a "redacted" feel to it. Kind of like when the government releases old documents that were once top secret, and some lines have been blacked out. I suspect this came from LE for some reason. Perhaps it is as simple as not wanting a couple key details to be known to the general public in case a suspect ever is brought in. That way those details would be known only to LE and the suspect and not just anyone else.

Second, when you are not excpecting something to happen, you may not be in a hurry or pay particular attention to things. I doubt any of us would expect to wake up to a kidnapping in progress. Taking Clint's statements at face value, it seems that is what happened here... Yes he heard voices outside but he also said he thought maybe it was a utility reader. Yes he saw people in the garage but it was his sister and he was not overly concerned... We also do not know exactly what he did that morning second by second. Just the general series of events, but obviously separated by some degree of time. It doesnt take 30 minutes to see someone, call mom, go back outside and find them gone...

Carla, I think that is well stated. I would bet my house on the fact that LE was telling the family what was ok and what wasn't ok to discuss. Then, when faced with questions, they were trying to answer without discussing those aspects LE told them not to discuss. The result was several "redacted" versions coming out. I also notice that, with time, the family did begin to provide more and more details as well. The one thing that I found that surprised me though is that through all the different statements given by the family, they are all consistent with each other. Additional facts might come out in a later version, but nothing that is inconsistent with an earlier version.

Also, even when you ARE expecting something to happen, people typically don't pay attention to the particulars or details. It reminds me of a tv show I saw in the last couple weeks again where told several subjects they were going to witness a mugging and then questioned them after it happened and it was amazing that only 1 of the subjects got the color of the perp's coat correct.

Hi all,

I'm going to throw out this possible theory because it's been bothering me for a while.

Natalie Bobo is into modeling. I DO NOT THINK SHE IS INVOLVED. I do, however, wonder if perhaps Holly was mistaken for Natalie for some reason.

This is Natalie's modeling agency audition/ad photos

I understand this theory was discussed very early on and perhaps even dismissed but after thinking of Kara Nichol's case, I'm really starting to wonder if there is a possible fake modeling agency out there targeting these young women? Who knows, perhaps Holly even tried to do some modeling herself. There are plenty of beautiful photos of her on the internet. It only takes one terrible mistake to entrust someone into believing it's the real thing only to find out later it was a terrible scam. There have been many cases where young women were lured into modeling or acting by killers.

Like I said. Just a another theory to expore or re explore, perhaps?

We know Holly sang. Another possibility. Not that exploretalent is involved but when ads are placed through this agency, I wonder how they screen the applicants. Sort of like Craigslist, kwim?

ETA: Holly's camera is missing. Yes, she could have had it for a number of reasons but perhaps she planned on meeting up with someone after her exam??????

There was an unsolved murder here, a few months ago. Many people here knew who did it and how but were too afraid to tell it. He had too many best buds and family.

The 100K now being offered is - "Thurstle Mullen, of Memphis, said he is offering a $100,000 reward from his own pocket to Holly Bobo’s abductor" http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2013/jan/14/citizen-offers-100k-reward-holly-bobos-abductor-tu/

Anything is possible n/t. I can't remember if it was on WS or elsewhere but I recall reading some threads that were looking into a modeling connection to several disappearances/murders, not necessarily Holly's. I'll see if I can find where I was reading that.

Remember the Craigslist Killer? He was engaged to be married, medical student, good looking. Who wouldn't trust him? But yet, he stalked, robbed and murdered a woman. Left many victims along the way before he was caught.

And of course we have Alcala

During this period Alcala also convinced hundreds of young men and women that he was a professional fashion photographer, and photographed them for his "portfolio."

I really doubt Holly would have kidnapped from her own yard, if this was some kind of modeling scheme gone wrong. She would more likely have been lured someplace neutral. This case has a more personal, and local feel to me. And really, a modeling rep coming out of the woods in camo?

BBM - agree.

All the time spent in the carport with the is something that's strange about this case... Did she know him? Was she trying to buy time by pretending she couldn't move, hoping her brother would come out? Was she trying to talk him out of it?
Just a mystery.. but

A reward for the abductor to turn himself in (for a measly $100,000) is window-dressing. I wonder why the offer was even made. Something really "off" about it?

The new 100,000 reward to me is almost like an attempt to claim the $250,000 reward. Basically if you offer the $100,000 and someone did come forward and confess, wouldn't you be in line to collect the big reward?
