Since they crossed state lines this becomes a federal kidnapping case correct?

I have not seen this pic of ET before.

Hmmm... An Asian restaurant. What was Tad's favorite place?
MOO
ETA: Reading phone # on the wall,
China Chef
5021 Trotwood Ave. Columbia, Tennessee

So, I guess she likes Chinese food too.
Just an observation.

Well she took a bathing suit maybe they went for a swim? They had no problem walking in a crowded Walmart. You can see those cameras right as you walk through the door. He's really stupid especially right after dying your hair to hide then get caught on camera.

They seem to play to the camera in the video IMO. Like she is saying smile for the camera and he smirks at the joke.
Arrogance.

It's so sad my heart breaks for her. I'm sure old Tad will be happy about that. He's out of his mind if he thinks ET is going to stay with him. Now that his wife will get most everything he obviously won't be a millionaire anymore. Cough cough lol

I feel so bad for JC...31 years of marriage and this is what she gets. TC is absolutely heartless.

They better stay away from CA they've been running this story lately on all our major news networks.

Arizona, New Mexico, and beautiful southern Utah. Canyonlands.

If they stay away from the major cities out here in the Southwest, they could hide for a long time. Lots of empty space around here.

I believe at this point this is just a Class E Felony in Tennessee. It should be about the same seriousness as a DUI conviction. I doubt it will become a federal case.

So another words since he doesn't have a criminal record he could just get probation?

My personal opinion is that the DA will end up bargaining with TC in order to bring ET home. TC needs to feel like he's the one in control, and unless LE gets lucky soon and manages to hunt them down, I don't know how else it could end. Maybe if TC feels he's still in control - surrendering on his own terms - they can avoid the risk of a shootout or other violent end.

At least one thing we know for sure they plan on going in body of water

Facial recognition software:
As the shopping pattern, seems to be Walmart, I am wondering if the stores use this. Casinos in Las Vegas, have shown how it works, very effectively. Would be potentially very helpful, as TBI has a range of photos, for each of them.

Report of ET's friend, having knowledge of someone agreeing to 'hide them':
If accurate, it is another example of everyone simply ignoring, this grossly inappropriate relationship. I can't fault ET's acquaintance, for not disclosing this info - when none of the teachers or school administrator, acted on very overt and obvious signs of TC, having 'crossed the line', big time.

TC's 'plan', is looking like he didn't really have one. Perhaps, that is the most difficult person to find. One whose movements, are totally random. Walmart seems to be the one thing, that he goes back to. Part of his pattern of behavior.

Been as impatient as everyone to get a quick resolution of this and ET back home.
I tried to go back on some earlier high profile disappearances to compare this to see the time frame when to expect the victim was returned and when we could expect an ending
Some I remember

Hannah Anderson - about 1 week her and captor were discovered about 1000 miles away in a campsite, captor shot

Abigail Hernandez - 9 months, walked back into her home, no more than 20 miles away, capture arrested and convicted

Elizabeth Smart- 9 months, discovered on a public street, she was only 18 miles away - captors convicted.

Jaycee Dugard - 16 years, walked in to a parole office. Captors convicted

ET - when I tried to compare this to expect when her return the one problem is that these abductions was forced. Can't use any of the other cases as a benchmark her since the circumstances are different. Don't want to get into a mind control over a physical abduction debate. Those were physical and violent, I don't get this "disappearance" and how it is playing out. IMO everyone in this has some part in how bad this went.
I feel horrible for ET how her life has begun and is unfolding. I hope she finds a better life, not with that creep -, lives are shattered. I empathize with the father having raised teens and it is a difficult time and I hope he finds eventual peace.
Time for me to go into lurker mode given the latest developments I don't think I can add any more. I'll watch this and learn and maybe help with the next one.
And to TC I know you will get what you deserve, not ET but a long sentence for the rest of your life. You gave up yours.

I think all cases in which an adult male takes a young girl (or boy) he already knows, has spent a lot of time with and has been obsessed with for awhile is comparable to this.

Some of them are men who steal kids they're related to. Some are teachers or sports instructors and some are creepy men they met elsewhere or on the internet and were lured.

So I think Hannah Anderson's case is comparable.

And the recent case of the uncle by marriage who stole his young niece, sexually assaulted her for awhile until some men hunting them found him and the child and rescued her.

The famous case of Jody Plauche, the boy stolen by the karate instructor who had been molesting him (who was shot to death by the boy's father as he was extradited), is another.

There have been so many. One was a 12 year old (I think) who was taken by some man who murdered her mother. I think she was found in California by an astute observer who saw her leaving a store with a man and just felt something was wrong. And called 911.

There was one just last week or so. A 13 year old California girl stolen by a 34 year old named Papadonis. Popped I think at the Canadian border. Sadly, the mother was aware of the "relationship" and didn't seem too disturbed.

My memory of all these cases isn't that great. Many involve hiding in the woods or whatever. Some in motels or cars in different states. They all seem to last about one-two weeks before getting caught.

Maybe sleuthers can list the cases we've covered on here? And compare how long it took to rescue the kid and how?

He could. If he releases her he's more likely to get a softer sentence. It's frustrating, but the law is written in such a way as to facilitate the return of an abducted child Now he could face other charges, including federal charges, but all that depends on a myriad of circumstances, what condition ET is in, how long she was gone for, how far he took her, if he sexually assaulted her, if he threatened her, if he ever used his weapons to force her to do anything, etc. Right now, if she's unharmed and he releases her, he'll most likely get a fine and be charged with a misdemeanor, but that window is closing the longer he keeps her.
