I think his comment was likely connected to the flood of emails they have received with maps and such saying "search here". It sounds harmless enough but when you times it by the world, because people from all over the world are seeing it thanks to social media, it gets to be cumbersome. It is very frustrating because weeding through thousands of maid and psychics and gut feelings and rumors takes a huge amount of time.
ITA! The other day he talked about getting "tips" from "psychics" and how they have to check most of them even though they don't believe in them, because it's part of the job. He said one came in from California - you should have seen the look on his face! Time wasters while a child is missing.
The sheriff is tired and I bet he doesn't spend a lot of time on sm and is probably horrified by what he's seen. He's not related to the family but he may know them from church or something so it may also feel "personal" to him, I dunno.
Unfortunately, his demeanor isn't helping to keep rumors at bay; the grumpier his answers are the more it seems to make people suspicious. I guess it's a no-win situation.
Anyway, at the beginning of the presser sheriff Weaver gave this timeline:
911 call - around 1:40
2:00 - Chester and Madison counties deputies were on scene
Shortly after 2:00 both sheriff's were on scene.
3:00 - THP helicopers arrived.
4:00 - military helicopters arrived.
4:00 - dogs on the ground.
By 6:00 - 75 to 100 LE personnel on scene.
What he wouldn't confirm was how long it took grandma to call 911 and how far into the woods they were when Noah went missing. I'm not complaining - just stating for the timeline.
