Initial reports have varied. The following descriptors have been used in MSM articles in relation to how long grandmother's attention was elsewhere.

moments
a short time
minute
briefly

Please do not get caught up on the semantics of it. Reports have varied. Which reports any given member will have read will vary as well.

:welcome: to ALL newby's that I may of missed............great to see you!

I hope this press conference means they have more information because in one of these latest news articles it was said there weren't going to be any more until/unless they had something different to report.

Also, I know they say they've found something...something indicating at least he was in the woods at some point. Just now looking at pics of the house (grandmother's) and it looks like a modular type like we had. There was a crawlspace underneath. Our house had at least two points where an adult could crawl through and possibly even additional points a small toddler could. (And it was easy to push back the 'doors' down there to make it shut/look undisturbed.) Having two kids of my own, I know when my son was also around two, he also pulled the 'hiding in the clothes rack' stunt. I was frantic- he never made a PEEP when I realized where he was and was saying "Don't ever do that again!" He even made a point to blend in as much as possible behind the clothes. The only reason I found him after looking for what seemed like an eternity is because I saw slight movement out of the corner of my eye. (He was pushing the clothes on the rack 'tighter' to cover his face.) My point being- I hope little Noah didn't go hide in that crawlspace, thinking he'd found the perfect spot, and just stayed quiet while all was going on in the woods (which common sense would dictate that's where one would go first to look) and fell asleep, never to wake up again. :(

I know they say they've searched the house, but I wonder if they went under it... (And again, this is NOT victim blaming at all...just a spot he could've hidden obviously not being aware of the danger at the age of two).

I'm hoping they have a really good reason to believe that they are very close to finding him. Because of all the extra experts out searching today and them not allowing volunteers out, to me it seems like they may want to prevent a volunteer being the one to find him, they know it will most likely be a devastating scene even for trained professionals. Just my thoughts.

Hopefully we will actually get something out of the presser but given history I doubt it.

Weren't they not going to have a presser today? If that's the case, I can't imagine having a presser without any new information. Then again, who knows.

For some reason my heart is sinking right now.

I still cannot believe Noah is still out there :(

Nothing else to add except my prayers.

This has probably been discussed earlier on so forgive me if it has, but maybe Noah didn't really walk off to begin with. He could have been just a few yards away but hidden behind a tree playing with whatever that had his attention when his gma realized he was out of sight. It's been mentioned that she must have had her attention away for longer than the brief time she said, but perhaps not. He wouldn't know he was "missing" and perhaps continue to play as she called out for him. And it's when she went to phone 911 that he realized she was not there and became lost looking for her.

Froggy 104 just announced a moment of silence for Noah...........................
maybe because 7 days ago at 1:19 he went missing????
or ...............

local radio stations have been doing that daily at 1:19 as a way to recognize Noah and the search for him. A way to have the community focus on him in unity.

I hope the announcement of a presser today, after previously saying that there wouldn't be one unless there were developments, means that they found something substantial. Surely there must be news, they have to know that the announcement of a presser now would everyone's hopes and peak curiosity. It would be cruel not to announce something significant.

I sure hope they let us all know they've found him at this presser today. It's been far too long already. Really don't feel like there's anything else to say at this point but feel like I need to say something. They just need to bring that baby out of those blasted woods! :(

My bet on the presser is that they are going to suspend the search until after the storm.

This is just so depressing. What a horrible horrible accident. I hate the thought of him stumbling around in the woods by himself trying to find someone he knows. :( I just wish the outcome could be a positive one so so badly.

I've read every post since poor Noah went missing but this one has just broken my heart. I've read that he's missing, the sink holes etc etc but the thought of a toddler trying to find someone he knows, being upset, crying, tired, lost has finally brought me to tears :tears:

I suspect we will see the search efforts begin to be greatly scaled back from today on out. Heartbreaking.

This is me being nit-picky, but it always bothers me in missing children cases when the height and/or weight is so clearly incorrect. Noah is reported as being 2 feet tall, which is 24" - the average length of a 3-6 month old boy. Average height for a 2 year old is 34-35". Noah doesn't look small for his age in pics.

I can't tell you how many 5-6-7 year olds I've seen described as 3 feet tall when they're missing!

I realize there are variations from average; my kids are always on the larger side of the charts, but it's highly unlikely Noah is only 24" tall.

The good news is, since he's likely to be the only toddler in the woods, it won't matter when it comes to finding him. I don't think the searchers will be like "I've got a young'n here, but he's about 3 feet tall...guess I'll ignore him and keep looking for that other boy" lol.

Anyone in the area can confirm a storm is there now? Last I heard, the storm wasn't supposed to hit until tomorrow.

Hi Elainera! I believe he meant Noah had no shoes on and was only wearing a t-shirt, so only the shoes would be off. He didn't say anything about shoes being found though - I wish the local sheriffs would confirm or deny that statement. And I had assumed the grey shirt was long-sleeved and not a t-shirt but now I don't know what to think.

Information officer Mapes said there'd be no updates today unless they find Noah. I hope LE changes their minds and gives us some sort of update.

ETA: To clarify, Noah was also wearing blue jeans but nothing was said about them

Thank you MSMarple! For me it just sounds weird to mention the missing shoes and the shirt, but not the pants. The sentence sounded to me as if Noah only has a shirt on now.

Another link for a good picture gallery. Just trying to save the links for future reference. This was probably the Thursday and Friday pictures.

Maybe a media thread to collect all the links and pertinent information would be helpful at this point? That way it is all one place for later reference.

I also think they will announce that they will scale back the search, given the worsening weather. :(
