Thanks for the needed correction. I thought that RS had gone with an academic / major fraternity. Sigma Chi was on my campus as well- though I cant remember what kind of reputation they had.

The aspects of being a social fraternity comprised of selected members with a bonding process likely also included the understanding that the pub crawl would be a group activity- abiet with some members being more deeply involved than others.

The totality seems to suggest that RS was owed more support than he received.
Agreed.

My daughter recently graduated university and was in a sorority. She heard about Riley and was in Nashville shortly after he was found. Her sisters were all pretty tight and she said that never would have happened with her sorority. But then again, girl v boy thing. I suspect Riley's machismo after getting bounced played into his decision to go to the hotel alone.

Though not in a sorority per se, my daughter runs track and cross country for her University.

She seconded what your daughter said. RS's situation simply would not have happened with her team. Its also a very bonded group. Whether its team parties off campus, or going out after a travel meet, they also follow the: "Nobody ever walks (or runs- get it, get it) alone" policy.

When one male team mate wanted to split off and participate in a relatively rambunctious beach volleyball game with locals, another male on the team also stayed behind with him.

She also told met that when she left a team social at night early to study, two male team mates walked her to her car down the street- the fact that it was a good area did not matter.

Baltz called Strain within two to three minutes of his ejection and told investigators Strain said he was a "few blocks" on his way to the hotel, about a half mile from the bar, the report said.

This sounds reasonable, that Riley's fraternity brother called him within 2-3 minutes of Riley's ejection from the bar and Riley's telling him that he as on his way back to their hotel which was close by. I don't see any fault of the frat brother if this is the case, he assumed that Riley could make it back to the hotel which was in very close proximity.

Tragic conclusion but it is a relief to hear that he likely wasn't the target of a crime, just unfortunate bad luck with his choices.
A conclusion I disagree with. Riley was found in the river without his pants, his boots or his wallet. There's no way a river current would remove pants and boots while leaving on his button-down shirt. One or more of Riley's credit cards was found on the bank of the river, a short distance from a notorious homeless encampment. That credit card probably got there while whoever "rolled" Riley was riffling through his wallet. His pants and boots were probably removed by whichever nearby criminal wanted them. My opinion only.

Fischer’s investigation shows Riley was alone after getting kicked out of Luke Bryan’s bar and at no point did anyone approach him or pick him up, which dispels rumors about a possible abduction or interaction with the homeless by the river.

Fischer says what the family chooses to do with the report is entirely up to them.

I've obtained photos and video from the investigative file. This shows an alert sent out by bar staff saying Strain was verbally aggressive with staff.

And then this video shows a security member escorting Strain down the stairs from the roof top bar and out of the building. As you see, Strain was with the guard alone and not long after leaving he disappeared.

There is much more to this case file with video which shows how fraternity members reacted when they realized Strain was being escorted from the bar

Taking a drunk patron down those steps seems like a pretty dangerous maneuver. That video definitely shows that Riley was feeling the effects of the alcohol in his system. Couldn't make out in the video what exactly the alert was sent for though.

The private investigator for the family of Riley Strain, the 22-year-old college student who drowned in the Cumberland River after a night in Nashville, released a portion of his findings this week.

The 281-page report contains almost an hour of video presentation that includes important pieces of surveillance footage from March 8th, the night Riley died.

... there is over 100 hours of surveillance video from more than 20 cameras, along with a dozen witness interviews, discussions with Metro police, trauma surgeons and the pathologist who performed the autopsy at the Davidson County Medical Examiner’s office.

Fischer did not got into detail about what his report found, but he also did not dispute officials' findings that Strain's death was an accident.

"As this is the family's report, I cannot disclose my investigative determination or the report's contents," he said. "What the family chooses to do with the report, whether they agree with its contents, or if they publicly comment on the report or the case is entirely up to them. I have no control over these decisions."

Strain appears to be unsteady on his feet as talks to the guard while they walk down the stairs from the roof top bar.

New footage has offered new insight into the last known moments of 22-year-old Riley Strain before his mysterious death

So this seems to prove that none of his frat brothers went outside with him via that staircase. I know I read something recently that claims at least one guy was with him, so perhaps one friend did meet up with him briefly outside and that friend used a main door. But that would contradict the report that stated he was alone.

From that News Channel 5 Nashville video linked above it sounds as if they will be offering some more footage later on today (see 1:25 mark in video where he states that).

One report from the bar stated that a friend followed him to the "door", but did not leave with him. It might come down to what door they were referring to.

For example, were they referring to an interior door at the top of the stair case? There appears to be one visible in the photo. The possibility of reference to an interior door could be increased if other businesses also use that stairwell.

In my experience what bonds frat brothers is booze, partying and girls. Not necessarily in that order. They may circle the wagons when an unwanted focus is on them but overall the connections they make may blossom after they start working.

Getting on a soap box rant....

I suspect that had this unfortunate accident victim's name been, say..... "Rilevian", his melanin content on the higher side, and his profession "aspiring rap performer" the amount of media attention given to the "Intoxicated man gets Booted from Bar, Falls in River, drowns" storyline would be several orders of magnitude lower.

Now, the mayor is considering building what- anti drunk barricades? along the river:

My bet is that intoxicated blacks and whites of the non college kid sort have drowned in that river for generations. In recent years, one might be able to add an over indulged hispanic as well.

Yet something apparently has changed regarding the previously easily acceptable level of risk that the river poses to the intoxicated. What could that change be?

Are you suggesting that the security member may have done something to Riley? Because what I see is a guard who never once touches Riley. His whole demeanor is that of a professional who listens to whatever Riley has to say but continues to focus Riley on leaving the premises using hand gestures. There is no evidence of aggression or anger in his physical demeanor: not in his stance, no clenched fists, no tenseness in the shoulders, no pushing, no shoving, no chest bumping, no lifting of the head in a confrontational manner, nothing. Just a professional who is probably escorting his 10051st drunk patron out the door.

I'm sure this guy doesn't like seeing his image posted online because those individuals who continue to believe malign events occurred resulting in Riley's death will probably harass and doxx him. I personally think he's showing incredible restraint escorting Riley from the premises. Bouncers are like cops, they are there to keep the peace. IMO

This has been a very high profile case in the media and often it takes something like this to get people to take action in some way or another. I'm glad the mayor is taking some actions that may help the next person from drowning in the river when they're out for a night on the town.
