I'm wondering if the place they were playing in the water has been searched?. Also who was with her at the pond? How far is it from their home? These questions may have been answered previously and I missed it. If so can you point me in the direction of where they were addressed. Thank you.

I think the Dad of Summer was speaking of the K-9 dogs losing the scent at the road. I believe others were saying they think one of the owned dogs would’ve accompanied Summer on a walk or trip into the forest. In which case, there would also be a missing dog. Maybe there is a missing dog, we just don’t know.
interesting, he seems to think someone snuck off with her at end of the road, does he think it is no longer necessary to search the area?

im wondering , they stop the search at 8:00 p.m. surly they have people calling out her name from the roads through out the night. it would be quite and maybe she could hear and respond. they could use normal volunteers for that.

If a SAR dog couldn’t track a scent, something is wrong. I have 2 bloodhounds, both just family pets, we can play hide and seek with toys or kids they find them every time! These are untrained dogs with good noses. This story just isn’t making sense.

My dog is aloof and has her own agenda, but if I go somewhere she’ll put everything she has into making sure I’m nearby. She’ll walk a long way ahead of me on a trail, but she’ll still turn and look to make sure I’m following. I’m very suspicious that none of the dogs went with her. I’m sitting on my hands about so much stuff I need to buy more butt cheeks.

Regarding the search dogs, how does it work for them when they’re in an area where the child spends a lot of time? For example, I’m assuming the kids played outside in the yard a lot - most kids do, and especially country kids when there’s a lot of space to play.

How does the search dog know which scent is most recent if there are multiple scents from Summer? Her father is saying one dog indicated he smelled Summer to the road and then no more. Could that have been from a time she went down to the road, turned around, and came back to the house?

The scent dissipates over time. They follow where the scent is strongest. I have friends who breed tracking dogs and they can correctly follow a scent track even if the track loops over itself.

A good scent dog can pick out the very most recent scent trail, and ignore the older ones---from what I understand.

@K9Enzo @Trackergd -----this^^^ is a case we have a lot of questions about...

He also said he felt that Summer would never leave the hill where her family lives. But you never can tell what kids will do. Sometimes the very thing you think they won’t do because you’ve told them 100 times not to do it and explained to them why they shouldn’t is the very thing they end up doing. Doesn’t matter if they are 5 or 15, sometimes kids are just gonna do what they’re not supposed to do and end up in dire straits as a result.

I used to not believe stranger abductions however after the deviate who almost snatched that young girl I've grown more receptive. I believe it was in Florida and he was arrested.

Anyway Dad believes she was kidnapped so I'm willing to go along with his feelings.

Either way it's another HEARTBREAKING case. :(

MOO
After years as a member here, I don't discount much of anything anymore - within reason, that is. Just when I think the unthinkable couldn't happen, it does.

I have no doubt that most people know or know of one another in their community. And with that many SOs in the area, anything is possible.

It's hard to feel optimistic in this instance.

The video is great!

I do wonder what the access is like to their home from the road he was driving on. There are several homes close to the intersection of the road where their home is located and the road he was on. Those homes are close to the road, too.
Yes, those homes are close to the road. Makes me wonder if there are neighbours that she likes to visit? We used to have a sweet old lady who lived next door, that always baked cookies and cupcakes for the kids. When my son was 3 and 4, he used to always try and sneak over to her house to get some treats.

Was there a neighbour that her family used to visit?

I just rewatched the video. When asked about Summer’s parents he states “Summer lived (past tense) with her parents and 3 siblings.” His body language also seems to be one of frustration and sadness. When asked if he believes this to be an abduction, he shakes his head no while saying nothing is off the table.
Oh God. I missed him using past tense. Summer lived... NOT GOOD for this darling girl. Praying for Summer Wells
